It’s Official: Channing Tatum will be your new Gambit in 2016

Entertainment trade site Variety is reporting 20th Century Fox has set October 2016 as the date you can finally replace your old Gambit action figure with a new one that looks vaguely like Channing Tatum.
Variety reports Gambit’s solo outing will open on October 7th, 2016, making the film Fox’s third entry in the X-Men franchise for the year (following Deadpool in February and X-Men: Apocalypse in May).
Tatum’s interest in playing Gambit isn’t exactly breaking news, as he was confirmed in the role back in May of last year. Taylor Kitsch previously played Gambit in the 2009 bomb X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but only Hugh Jackman and apparently Ryan Reynolds survived recasting after that mess.
For what it’s worth this far out, Tatum has promised a different take on Gambit. From ComicBookResources:
“We really do want to try our hardest to give something fresh. We’re obviously going to go to the saving the world superhero movies eventually, but maybe not for the first one. We kinda want to introduce this character in a different way. When you try to do something different, you never know right off the bat what that is.”

Being a "not Gambit fan" works out with me being a "Not Channing Tatum fan" so now I don't have to give even a tiny crap about this.
