My Little Pony Movie trotting to theaters in 2017

Entertainment trade website variety reports Hasbro has greenlit a big screen pony adventure, due out in three years.

Joining Hasbro properties including Transformers, GI Joe, Jem, and Battleship, the animated feature will mark My Little Pony’s first foray into theaters in over 30 years. The film will be produced by Hasbro’s new in-house studio, Allspark Pictures, with Joe Ballarini (Ice Age: Continental Drift) providing the script. MLP:FIM writer Megan McCarthy is attached as co-executive producer.
