Discovery Plans Rebrand of The Hub
The Hub Network, the joint venture between Hasbro and Discovery, is about to get a make-over as well as a new name. Discovery Family would be controlled by Discovery, who would buy acquire some of Hasbro’s current share of the channel. Hasbro would still have a large stake in the network, however, as well as access to the 9am-3pm programming block.
Such a move has been rumored ever since The Hub Network CEO Margaret Loesch stepped down in June. The network has existed as The Hub for five years, with plenty of struggles from the start largely in part due to an inability to compete with kids network giants such as Nickelodeon and Disney channels.
