Fox Drama Cancels “Almost Human”
A television show set an indeterminate amount of time in the future featuring humans and robot cops working together to put a stop to criminals using unregulated technology for mischief and personal gain. Sounds like every nerd’s dream show, no? However, it appears that Almost Human didn’t capture the desired audience – from the geek culture and elsewhere – as it has been revealed that Fox Drama will not renew the show for a second season. The low ratings at the beginning of the first season couldn’t be overcome, regardless of the steady pick-up of viewers towards the end of the run.
Also not of help are Fox Drama’s competing new shows, such as Gotham, The Red Band Society, and Empire, which are all projected to have strong viewership themselves.
Almost Human was created by J.J. Abrams and J.H. Wyman and featured a human police officer (played by Karl Urban) with a troubled past and his android partner (Michael Ealy) as they struggled to solve crimes committed by those willing to use high-tech tools of the trade without concern to human collateral damage.
