“Transformers” passes “Pirates,” Expectations

{mosimage} astf contiues to break expectations. Even with dwindling amounts of theaters still showing the movie, it's numbers are still going up. It is now estimated to have a domestic gross of $308,631,000, which means it has passed Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and sits as the #3 highest domestic grossing movie of the year.  The top two spots remain to be Spider-Man 3 and Shrek the Third at $336,530,303 and $321,012,359 respectively.

What else does $308,631,000 mean? According to Box Office Mojo that number places the movie at the 23rd highest grossing movie of all-time , and also enables it to break the top 100 "adjusted for inflation" chart . That chart shows a more accurate account of actual tickets sold and is topped by the likes of Gone with the Wind and Star Wars.
