The June 2008 issue of Dengeki Hobby Magazine is out in Japan, and it features an article on upcoming TakaraTomy releases. Included in the article is a bit more information on the HenKei! HenKei! release of Hot Rodimus (Classics Rodimus); it looks like the chrome on this figure will be on his spoiler, and it will be orange chrome! Although it was never in doubt, this is further evidence that Hot Rod like to bring the bling!
TFW2005 is reporting that they received a message from the class that is going on now revealing what the Customizing Class figure is. It looks like some lucky Botcon goers will be getting their hands on a Timelines Nightbeat figure...Or rather the Shattered Glass version of Timelines Nightbeat!
Click here to see the original report, and discuss this news here in The Walky's thread. We'll report any images of the actual toy as they become available!
*Update* Images! Click here to see them on TFW2005! Being an evil repaint, he gets black paint added to him...and those lines and pretty-looking symbol are from a sticker sheet that each class member received! And no figure would be complete without tech specs. And to make him even more a part of the Shattered Glass Universe, look for him to appear in the pages of the Botcon Comic!
Sean Long has another video review, this one of the uber-cool, uber-crazy Transformers Animated Blitzwing! Now you can see how his split personality gimmick works, how he transforms, gimmicks, and more size comparisons with the other Animated Voyagers and G1 Blitzwing!
Chuga-chuga-chuga-chuga Whoo-woo! Houston we have a problem! Those people waiting for a cartoon accurate Classics Astrotrain don't have to wait any longer - as TakaraTomy's Henkei! Henkei! Transformers Astrotrain is now released! Sporting a color scheme similar to the limited G1 reissue e-Hobby release, this figure is sure to be popular. You can see an image of the just released figure in package (he's already "Discontinued" at HLJ - meaning they're not expecting more at this time) at Hobby Link Japan. Also just released is Trans-Scanning Bumblebee, who features both armor to make his protoform and concept Camaro robot and vehicle mode forms.
Coming out this week in the UK is the 11th issue of the Transformers: The Movie UK Magazine by Titan, so Simon Furman has updated his blog with a little bit of information about the comic portion of the magazine. This will be the 3rd part of Twilight's Last Gleaming, an alternate take on the Transformers Movie that give it a less happy ending. Now the Autobots and humans must take on the Decepticons without Optimus Prime. Bumblebee fights Megatron, Mikaela fights Frenzy...And you have to read the comic for the rest!
Click here to see all of what the writer has to say about the comic! And fans attending Botcon don't forget that Simon Furman will be there too for autographs, questions, and the festivities!
Get your salt shakers ready as Hobby Link Japan has added a listing for HenKei! HenKei! Transformers D-04 Thrust. This figure was originally solicited as D-04 Ramjet. So is the figure going to actually be Ramjet or is his conehead buddy in red Thrust seeing a release outside of the Botcon 2007 Games of Deception set? Is this listing just some confusion on HLJ's part? Only time will tell as the release date becomes closer.
You can view the listing at HLJ (along with the third & fourth wave of Japanese Classics). Thanks to Seibertron for the news which you can discuss on our boards.
*UPDATE* Thanks to Nevermore for pointing out that both AmiAmi and Red Mercury (Japanese retailers) refer to the figure as Thrust and not Ramjet. The plot thickens...
*UPDATE 2* Apparently HLJ has changed their listing to Ramjet stating that the original list was a mistake. Thanks to Nevermore for pointing this out. And now the story goes down hill...
A member of ACToys has posted a gallery and review of the upcoming Transformers Animated Blitzwing figure. Even if you can't read the review, there are plenty of pictures to look at, giving different views of each mode, a close-up of the helmet, and comparison pictures with G1 Blitzwing and an Animated Lugnut! So now you can get a feel for just what this toy will be like when he finally arrives on store shelves later this year!
Click here to see the gallery, and here to discuss it on the Allspark. Thanks to Sso02V for the link!
Sean Long has another video review ready. This one is for the Transformers: The Movie Premium Barricade, which like the other Premium Series figures, is a repaint of the original figure that gives it a little more paint detailing to better reflect how he was represented in the movie! Check out the video for a look at Premium Barricade, his packaging as well as a comparison with a regular Barricade so you can see just what makes him Premium!
Let's try this again! TFW2005 now has images of a SDCC Nemesis Prime with red windows, Autobot symbols and paint ops that vary quite a bit from the SDCC Nemesis Prime reported a couple days ago. This Nemesis Prime also sports the usual "Not for Sale" and defacing marks that are typically found on pre-production samples. So it looks like we may have to wait to see what the final Nemesis Prime will look like!
Click here to see the original report and images on TFW2005! And then discuss all things Classics Nemesis Prime in this thread!
Diamond Select Toys has revealed one of their exclusives for San Diego Comic Con this year. It will be a bust of Autobot leader Optimus Prime! It will use a sculpt and color palette reminiscent of the G1 animation model, and will be limited to 750 pieces. It'll be $60 and will only be available at SDCC, so convention goers keep an eye out for the heroic red and blue robot!
This week, one will be on comic shelves and one will be in Cincinnati... Transformers writer Simon Furman has updated his blog with a little teaser of IDW's Transformers Spotlight: Grimlock. The comic book will serve as a sequel to Spotlight Shockwave telling what happened to the Dinobots after they became entombed in a molten lava flow! Grimlock wakes up in modern times, angry at himself (and therefore everyone else) for possibly dooming the other Dinobots. And his fury may just put him in the position to side with a cerebral Decepticon who is looking to get a head in Decepticon politics...
Click here to read all of what the writer has to say about the issue. Spotlight Grimlock is due out this Wednesday, perfect timing to get it autographed by Simon Furman, who will be attending Botcon this weekend in Cincinnati, OH!
