The Official Transformers Collectors Club panel has just finished at BotCon 2008 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Allspark staff member Galenraff has sent us a few tidbits from the panel: the Club exclusive Nightbeat toy may get a pack-in comic, and the Shattered Glass and "April Fool's Day" comics will both continue in some form. Tformers also has a live report from the panel with more news, including details about the shaving habits of the "Shattered Universe" denizens.
HasbroToyShop.com now has in stock the upcoming Transformers Movie figures Salvage (Dropkick recolor), Stealth Bumblebee (with new headsculpt), and Premium Barricade and Jazz (who feature more movie accurate decos). As of this writing all of the figures are in stock. You Big Dummy, don't forget to use code GETOUT20 to save 20% off your order!
TFW2005 user Peaugh has gotten ahold of the Leader-class Megatron figure from Transformers Animated, and has posted an in-depth photo shoot and review of the figure, comparing it with other large Transformers figures, as well as other figures in the Animated series. You can view the review here, and discuss the news on our forums here.
The first tidbit of news coming from Botcon this fine Saturday morning is the news that Fun Publications screened the upcoming Animated episode "Garbage In, Garbage Out", which won't air in the US until May 10th. The episode, which features "Weird Al" Yankovic as classic Transformers character Wreck-Gar, was a big hit with 'con-goers. You can read the discussion of it, and all of Saturday's festivities, here in our ongoing discussion thread.
If you're a Transformers fan who owns a Nintendo DS game system, but not the Transformers: Autobots game that came out last year as a Transformers: The Movie tie-in, there's a great deal available right now--but you'd better move fast! Amazon.com's "Gold Box" contains the game as a "Lightning Deal" right now, cutting the price in half from $19.99 to a measly ten bucks. The catch is, the deal is only good until 6PM PDT, which as of this posting is about two and a half hours away. After that time (or sooner, if all their copies of the game sell out), another DS game will swoop in to take its place as the current deal in the Gold Box.
The normal product page still lists Transformers: Autobots at full price. To get in on the deal, visit Amazon.com and click on the "Today's Deals" link with the gold treasure chest icon at the top of the page. Time's a-wastin'!
He's big, he's green, and clumsy when he's mean! Sean Long has stopped by with a video review of Animated Leader Class Bulkhead! See the lights, hear the sounds, and behold the ownage!
Yet more repaints were on display at Botcon, and TFW2005 has images of them! Check out their Botcon Gallery for images of a "Patrol" repaint of Animated Bumblebee (that's Bumblebee as a police car), a Target exclusive Aerial Rivals Legends 5-pack, and a KMart exclusive Minicon 12-pack! Also in the gallery are some more images of the Universe figures, Robot Heroes, Animated figures and a look at more of the Bumper Battler toys.

Tformers has added a live report of the Transformers Animated panel, which just ended over at BotCon 2008 in Cincinnati, Ohio. They've got a long list of the factoids divulged by panelists Matt Youngberg (Chief Director), Derrick Wyatt (Art Director) and Marty Isenberg (Head Writer). The biggest news is that things are looking good for a third season of the series, based on the show's strong ratings, and that such a season would include "BIG plans" for Soundwave, as well as the potential return of many other Animated--and G1--characters. In other news, Oil Slick is toy-only at the moment, Nanosec will return, Ultra Magnus' toy is awesome, Unicron will NOT be appearing, and more!
Read the full report at Tformers, and discuss this and all the other BotCon 2008 news in this thread on the Allspark!
It's Friday and the dealer room is open, that means we're starting to get pictures of Hasbro's booth! TFW2005 has posted images of several upcoming Universe repaints, including a Legends "Leadership" 5-pack that repaints the Cyberton Legends into five of the combiner team leaders! Hotspot is repainted from Prime, Razorclaw from Leobreaker, Hun-Grrr from Scourge, Silverbolt from Thundercracker and Scattorshot from Alpha Trion! Also pictured is a maroon Legends Starscream, a Blades repaint of Cybertron Voyager EVAC, a tan and brown repaint of Cybertron Defense Scattorshot called Dropshot, and a camouflage green Classics Seeker repaint called Acid Storm!
You can see all of these images here on TFW2005! Then discuss them in this thread on the Allspark!
The IDW Panel has wrapped up, and TFormers.com brings us some of the highlights. It looks like the Headmasters will be the only -Masters to appear in IDW (what does that mean about Double Dealer?), Arcee is blind in her dedication to destroy Jhiaxus and we'll see how blind in Revelations, Hearts of Steel is definitely the last Evolutions book, Star Saber and Victory Saber will be featured in the IDW 'Verse, and they will be looking into doing another Beast Wars title.
You can see this info and the rest of TFormers' report here, and discuss everything Botcon in this thread on the Allspark!
For those of us waiting for Botcon news from our computers, Botcon.com has put up images of the souvenir figures, as well as images from Thursday night at the Con. The images of the souvenirs look like the posters that are on display at the convention, but they still give a good looks at the toys!
