Supposedly.

After he finishes his eight-year drag on the Avengers franchise, Brian Michael Bendis may be getting the keys to the X-Men corner of the universe.

So enjoy Wolverine and the X-Men, X-Factor, and whatever else is fun and quirky while you can. They might not be around after this year.

On the plus side, Avengers will finally be free.

If anyone deserves to be shackled at the ankle to Greg Land, it is Brian Michael Bendis.

Agreed.

Transformers is a brand that really has something for everyone. We are a darn lucky fandom.

Let's see...Spider-Woman will be retroactively be found to have an X-Gene.

Luke Cage's baby will turn out to be a mutant, facilitating Cage and Jessica Jones to move in with the X-Men.

Magneto will split off from the X-Men again, and instead of forming a new Brotherhood, will form a new Dark X-Men.

Ms. Marvel will frequently guest-star.

Everyone will begin speaking like a twelve year old girl. The conversations they have will last an entire issue.

What else?

Didn't they already make Jessica Drew a mutant? I mean I guess she's different from an x-gene mutant, but that's kinda splitting hairs. They still call Namor a mutant after all.

As long as it gets him away from the Avengers franchise. I don't read most xbooks anyway.

I just miss the days when heroes had big exciting adventures ful of wonder and epic scale, when they did fun stuff and fought colorful supervillians in costumes. The day Bendis leaves will be one step closer to the Avengers being the type of comic I want to read again.

-ZacWilliam, if the Avengers never have another issue long, semi-depresive conversation in their living room, have their house/skyscraper/mythical city blown up, or fight other heroes over political differences, an army of generic sci-fi ish government/semi-government troops, or semi-villians who mostly wear normal clothes and want to talk about how the Avengers are the real villians ever again it will be TOO SOON.

There is nothing official...just Rich trying to break a story. He did break the New 52 story and Before Watchmen though, I saw a rumour that it is Uncanny X-Men that Bendis will be taking over, which I'm fine with.

Well he is a human Atlatean hybrid which is a type of human mutant. Not much different then Franklin being a mutant by being the offspring of Reed and Sue.

Actually, no. Namor is a mutant becasue of those tiny wings on his ankles that give him the power of flight. Seriously. They're from the x-gene and what make him a mutant.

-ZacWilliam, it has nothing to do with his hybrid human atlantian mix.

God, bendis is such a hack. He's a big reason why I havent been reading anything from marvel or dc lately. Let him write some solo, noir-ish characters. Dude just doesn't know how to write anything else.

Why would Bendis be a big reason why you're not reading from BOTH companies? I could understand Marvel...but he doesn't write for DC icon-hotrod.gif He's not a hack. He just gets complacent on books that he has had a long run on. Such as both Avengers books. His work on Ultimate Comics Spider-Man has been really good so far, better than I expected.

Because his writing style has become extremely popular. It seems like both companies prefer writers that write in that obnoxious, overly talky style. He's also one of the first writers, to my knowledge, to start "writing for the trade", which has also become the norm.

Yeah Geoff Johns is right up there with him in that regard. I used to be a much bigger Bendis fan than I am now. I don't think though he's a better choice than the two main writers they have writing X-Men right now....although like I said, I would be fine with him taking over Uncanny X-Men, as that book has just been plain boring.

Not the ones I'm reading. Wolverine and the X-Men has been the most fun I've had reading a X-Men book in years as the Schism has taken elements from various different runs and made them work.

Wolverine and the x-men is excellent. That and x-force are the only ones I like at all. X-factor really isn't even that good anymore.

Bendis sort of addresses the rumour and boasts that what he's doing after AVX is so much more...still not spilling the beans. I'm guessing they're waiting for the next major con to divulge this information.
