I don't think RG1 is the true ending to the Marvel because G. I Joe was in the same continuity as Transformers and they had a crossover with G2, not RG1 (obviously RG1 didn't exist back then). So G2/Alignment is the true ending.

Honestly, the movie designs look fine and are totally recognizable, the problem is how they're filmed (in close-up, shakeycam, with split-second cuts). We just need more wide shots, and a plot that focuses on the TFs as characters rather than as props for the (terrible) human characters..

Yeah it's pretty obvious that the movie designs go out of their way to have parts in particular places that move around like muscles. They're going for metal aliens instead of megazords. A reboot, no matter how faithful to G1, would probably still have to try and go for a visual style that allows that kind of fluid movement.

The movie designs were never about realism. They're about natural looking movement. Realistic G1 style designs would not move the way we want to see Transformers move. They'd collide with their own boxiness. The shredded metal look of the movie designs lets them flex.

He is mistransformed. His stomach, at least. According to the images of him from BotCon, the sides of his abs fold back.

Also, that prod of his totally looks like the Scorpion-guy that Takara's Soundwave comes with.

Looks like his fenders need to tilt back further on his shouders, his "belt" needs to fold around his waist, and his windows need to fold down on his arms. Looks pretty good now, and I think he'll look great when properly transformed.

Boy - with a very little bit of paint that head could be turned into a pretty decent Terrorsaur.

And aren't his wheels supposed to be up higher by his shoulders too?

Love that he comes with that cattle prod spear thing. I definitely didn't think he would, especially since I believe he only used it once on the show.

Boy are they're going to be any surprises as Toyfair this year? I mean we've seen a mockup of him before but they're revealing all the goods before I get there. icon-fire.gif

Thanks, I was looking for that picture. For future reference do you know if the Skyquake picture is still around? I really hope his and Breakdowns toys get shown.

Yeah, but they may end up being hand painted samples that are not indicative of the final product (like silver eared Universe Sunstreaker or black faced Alternator Silverstreak). icon-fire.gif

So he's actually not that much mistransformed. Just fold back the stomach pieces and straighten his chest kibble.

Ouch. I was at least hoping that the windows folded over the forearms to help with that area of nothingness on the inside of the arms. And that the hood torso did...something to make that look less goofy.

I'm a little disappointed he doesn't have the large yellow semi-circular areas to either side of his head, those are my favorite parts of his robot mode.

Looks decent otherwise, face looks fantastic!

Takara Soundwave has a circular, multi-pronged weapon-mode Minicon.

This here has a u-shaped prod at the end of it. the Micron Booster snake looks more like Knockout's weapon than the scorpion does, which is based off of Soundwave's tentacle.
