I know this thread is a bit early, but I'm looking forward to the new episode a lot. These waits are annoying!

Anyway, this is what we know:

QUOTE
Apple Bloom doesn't want Granny Smith to embarrass her by speaking in her class.

Looks like we might be getting more character development for the rest of the Apple family.

I hope they never explain Applejack's unseen parents. It's more amusing that way.

And they have no contact with their family in order to protect them from criminals and to save the show's special effects budget.

I always figured that out of everybody, the Apple parents were the most likely to have actually dies in the show.

I know I'm being selfish, but I hope we don't see their parents, or especially Fluttershy's and Dash's. At least until I can get my fic finished in another few weeks.[/selfish]
I had a better signature... then it ran away. MLP card trade list. MLP blind bag trade list.

which was just before Applejack went to the Orange's

Ma and Pa Apple have actually appeared in every episode of the series.

They're actually Celestia's team of ninjas.

Okay, show of hands. Who actually expected this episode to have...
HIGHLIGHT to view:
the story of how Ponyville was formed?

I really liked that ep!

Though you do realise Granny Smith is now canonically hundreds of years old, ref: Winter Wrap Up "Ponyville was started by earth ponies, so for hundreds of years they've never used magic to clean up winter"

Well I certainly didn't expect this episode to tell the history of how Ponyville was founded. Or that Granny Smith was one of the original founders. Great stuff!

Also, the rainbow coloured Zap-Apples reminded me of something...

Another great episode in my opinion.

With the exception of Ponyville's origin story and Diamond's punishment, I found this to be a very weak episode. Very by the books "Old people are eccentric for a reason." moral

Let the extra nerdy "Is Granny Smith a reliable narrator?" debate begin!

And since they're never going to address it I'm going to assume that Ma and Pa Apple were not killed in a tragic applebucking accident but are, in fact, fighting evil picking apples in an alternate universe thanks to a mishap in the Everfree Forest.

Liked this episode enough the watch the repeat...not the greatest ever, but, you know, funny. Loved the "I prefer Rich" running gag.

Oddly enough, I kind of ignored the routineness of the story, because I was having so much fun between Granny Smith's antics, the peculiarities of Zap apples, and the Ponyville origin story. YMMV. As Applebloom episodes go, I preferred this to "Cutie Pox".
