From the Planet Iacon Facebook page.

Seems there is a clear version of the DIA commander armor being produced, probably not by Fansproject. Looks nice with Crystal Convoy.

While the Takara Crystal Convoy is almost impossible to get, and KOtoys reproduction of it is offline, I see Chimungmung just started stocking "Krystal Konvoy". For those without the rare Takara toy that might be the only option to put a cab on this armor.

Title should read 'KO' then, not 'Repro'....

I cannot see this being a good idea. Even if FP made it

Transparent plastic plus that nasty tight grip these things have on the legs of the Prime mold basically mean that you are not going to get it off the feet, and if you try, something is going to break horribly

Can you define the difference between a reproduction and a knockoff to you?

Technically they are the same thing, but I usually say reproduction if it's a medium to high quality immitation sold to the collectors market, which these seem to be from my experience with the other non-Fansproject made Commander armors, and usually say knockoff for low quality mass produced item sold the the kids in China or in discount stores in the USA.

There isn't any.

"Reproduction" as often used by sellers, is just a way of presenting a shadily produced knock-off as somehow more savoury.

If they are the same thing then I didn't used it wrong.

Like Reprolables or Tranrepro parts, Reproduction is generally used to mean some collector's item not made by the original company. Knockoff had the connotation of being cheap mass produced copies of low quality.

For my personal use, this is a "knockoff" Starscream:

This is a "reproduction" Starscream:

Are Reprolabels knockoffs?

The ones that replicate existing sticker sheets, yes

The ones that add more detail? Nope

Anywho, I still stand by my point that this is a mold that should not be done in transparent plastic

Didn't we have the argument before? It's semantics at best. Just calling something a "reproduction" adds an air of legitimacy to it. As though Fansproject perhaps allowed a new company to pick up the Commander armor mantle that it no long desired to wear . Since this is likely not the case - it's a knock off, a boot leg or, if you really want to still use reproduction just tack on "unauthorized" to the front.

For a more precise example: the minibot keychains were reproductions. Encore Optimus Prime, Megatron, etc is a reproduction. They are not original G1 toys, but they are new versions of old toys made by their original creators. This is a fourth party stealing a third party's idea and making their own copy of it.

In any case yes it's pretty but I also agree it looks crack-tastic. It'd be surprised if it arrived in one piece let alone held together long enough to put it on.

^What Dake said.

This is a KO, not a reproduction.

It's also a KO because it's not authorised by the original maker, and is not actually a reproduction of the item, as it's different anyway (FP never did a clear version).

It's a KO.

"No officer, these aren't counterfeit Louis Vutton handbags. They're just high quality imitations. See, totally fine. Wait, why are you still cuffing me?"

And bonus: seeing this set is most likely to be used with a KOLD Convoy (unless im wrong on the manufacturer of that KO. I do get the whole CHMS thing confused sometime), isn't the clue right there? The KO part in KOLD says it all.

And Mignash, you chopped off the rest of what Nickstart said. It also mattered.

If I started a thread in the main Transformers forum about Prime toys, but labelled the thread as 'Kre-Os', people would immediately point out my use of the wrong term. Same here. You've labelled this as 'Repro', when it's not.

A thread about FP doing this would also go in this forum, so isn't it best to be clear, and use the correct terminology?

What annoys me is the people who keep bringing up the ethics of KOs in every thread about a KO product. Seems to be an effort by certain people to harass the subject into silence and it's very annoying.

Just suggesting more accurate terminology.

You're paranoid.

EDIT: Although when we ARE talking about stolen goods, why bother mincing around it? They're counterfeit, fake, KO, bootleg, etc.

They are what they are.

My name is Dake and I have a box full of KO Classics Seekers. There - I'm on the dark side with you Mignash. icon-fire.gif It's not about shaming or guilting or anything else. Just being honest about the origins. After all, this entire sub-forum is dedicated to KOs.

I think it's about being accurate in description. Both Knockoffs/Reproductions are illegally copied, no one is debating that. I use the word reproduction for highly accurate collectables, and knockoff for the cheap ones. Nothing wrong with that. I don't stand for the dishosest practice I see on ebay sometimes where a seller describes a reproduction as a "reissue", that would be lying.

A reproduction ISN'T necessarily illegally copied.

However, in this case you ARE talking about a Knock Off.

You're using the terms incorrectly.

Correct title for this thread wold be ' Clear KO FP DIA Commander Armour'.
