Load them into cannons, load the cannons into bigger cannons, launch the cannons into orbit, then launch them back down into the Marianas Trench.

@  Patchouli Kn... : (06 December 2016 - 06:12 PM)

Load them both into cannons and fire them into orbit.

@  BlackMax : (06 December 2016 - 05:19 PM)

We'll load Trump into the cannon and shoot ~him at~ Bieber. Problem solved.

@  TheMightyMol... : (06 December 2016 - 04:08 PM)

Oh yeah, like I had enough left over for a safety net after buying the cannon. I work retail here!

@  Telly : (06 December 2016 - 03:12 PM)

so long as theres a safety net i can land in sure!

@  TheMightyMol... : (06 December 2016 - 03:09 PM)

Hey man, I didn't get this comically large cannon to NOT shoot somebody out ot it. So unless you're volunteering to take his place.....

@  Telly : (06 December 2016 - 03:02 PM)

cant we just shoot him, full stop??

@  TheMightyMol... : (06 December 2016 - 03:01 PM)

Can't we just like, shoot him out of a comically large cannon or something?

@  Paladin : (06 December 2016 - 02:59 PM)

first you agree to throw Justin Bieber out into the cold & let him freeze to death...

@  BlackMax : (06 December 2016 - 02:14 PM)

Say, give us all the Tim Horton's and about 700 kilos of Coffee Crisps and we'll take all the cold. How about it?

@  BlackMax : (06 December 2016 - 02:13 PM)

Well hey, let's not be hasty. Canada and the US are allies, we're all friends here on this board, maybe we can negotiate.

@  Telly : (06 December 2016 - 02:11 PM)

just tryin to save you some misery mate :)

@  BlackMax : (06 December 2016 - 04:37 AM)

Well not any more I'm not.:(

@  Telly : (05 December 2016 - 07:59 PM)

@blackmax-cold leads to snow. snow leads to delayed shipments. delayed shipments lead to a paranoid blackmax. are you SURE you want the cold??

I steer clear of TVTropes.

I feel that linking to someone else's writing on a subject instead of forming your own opinion is kinda detrimental to being a critic. Sure, there are tones of stereotypes and stuff, but overcategorization is the death of fun stories.

So I ignore TVTrope links.

hug TV Tropes. Just overanalyzing stuff for no reason. Everything's been done in some fashion, especially when you overcategorise it. Just because something fits into some vague definition of a cliche (even something extremely rare is a cliche on Tropes...) doesn't make it bad. I pity any writer who tries to avoid the prat falls of TV tropes.

I don't think the point of TVTropes is to call something bad. A common theme doesn't have to be hackneyed or clich?, but I think it's fun to notice them anyway.

They SAY ON THEIR SITE that tropes aren't cliches.

"Disabled people donít have special needs. We have very reasonable human needs. Our needs include freedom from abuse, violence, and mistreatment, the right to autonomy and self-direction, the right to represent ourselves, equal opportunity for education and employment, the right to accommodation, and societal inclusion and acceptance.

The need for accommodation isnít a ďspecial needĒ. Itís a basic human right. Itís a leveling of the playing field that allows us the same opportunities and chances as non-disabled people."

Which is pretty much the same opinion as TVTropes. They just list them.

They also constantly mention that tropes aren't bad.

Writing something without using any of the tropes on TV Tropes would be like cooking without ingredients.

Personally, I think the idea of "TV tropes" cheapens the whole creative field by trying to categorize every little thing. Even if it does seem to be taken to extreme levels of self-parody.

The problem is when you get these people who come up to you and:

"Hey, that looks interesting."
"Yeah, it's my favourite show!"
"What's it about?"
"Oh, this, and that, and this!"
"Oh, sounds like a classic *TROPE* and *TROPE* with some *TROPE*"

I love TV Tropes. They basically take the analysis that all (script)writers worth their pay should be doing anyway and put it in clear easy-to-read wiki format. It's like Cliff Notes for the process of writing.

Plus it's fun going through their "Crowning Moment of" and "Nightmare Fuel" pages as a way to remember those, er, memorable scenes in various stories and discover new stories.

Plus their "Wild Mass Guessing" pages are shrines of entertaining self-aware fanwank.
