Just like the title says, what would be your ideal Transformer series? I'm planning on making a fan comic sometime, so I'd like to see what the majority of people look for in a series.

Mine would probably be a mix of Animated and Beast Wars. PErhaps a little more serious than Animated with the episodes tying into each other a little more closely (like they did in the end of Season 2).

It'd include a good mix of beast and vehicle mechs, a more realistic war (like what Furman did in his IDW comics), and not-completely-evil Decepticons. More shades of gray, where good guys can do bad and bad guys can do good.

I'd like to see the reverse of the norm.

An experimental space flight jets a group of humans to Cybertron and they get caught up in the Transformers war.
Some would binary bond with the transformers and the stronger-willed would want to fight on their own. Becoming Godmasters and Headmaster jrs.

Of coarse I'd also want as many new characters as possible. With name reuses being used on characters that are nothing like previous characters with that name.

*sigh* a boy can dream..

300 years after Beast Machines, stuff happens on Cybertron and nobody teams up with any stupid little kids.

War Within style of a peaceful Cybertron erupting into a civil war
recalling teams back from exploring the galaxy to deal with the issues at home that way you get both a grand over arcing story with TFs exploring the galaxy

You all know about what kind of Transformers I would want. What you don't know is that they wouldn't be a series, they would be a sub-line like Classics or Universe.

I would like a series that bases itself around today's issues, problems, and concerns. It would cause protests among the three main religions--(Primus=God)---basically turn humanity's view of itself and its' religions and cultures on their heads.

There would be no 'making friends' with a group of humans. The two factions would be warring without concern for us. They would be battling in a war betweem two ideologies, one of peace (for their own kind), the other of conquest.

The Decepticons AND Autobots would regard us as nothing but inferior simple-minded beings with stone-age technology, and use our buildings, vehicles, and weapons against each other.

(ie, Prime picks up a bus full of people and uses it to bludgeon Megatron; Skyfire grabs two passenger planes out of the air and throws them at Starscream)

Humanity can't do squat to them. Nukes just power them up, emps rechage them, etc. Basically, we're screwed.

It would ultimately be a series that revolves around the Transformers, and not humans.

You got that from Shortpacked, didn't you?

And why do you contradict yourself? First you talk about how it would shake the human worlds with shocking revelations about their views, then you say "Screw the humans, just have em be casualties of the war!"

No, just Cybetronian blood.

Sari would (literally) be Megatron's pet. She'd be clothed of course, but with a collar-and-long chain leading to Megatron's wrist. She would be the comedy relief of the show.

For instance.....

Soundwave: Attention Lord Megatron.
Megatron: What is it?
Soundwave: You forgot to feed your human last cycle.
Megatron:....you mean....
Soundwave: Affermative. She ate all of your steel magnolias.
Megatron: Sari Sumdaaac!

A serious, high-budget animated adaptation of the current IDW comics. Hey, a guy can dream.

If I wanted to dream even more, a Classics/universe series of direct-to-DVDs, set explicitely in the G1 animated continuity after "The Rebirth." It could work.

The Autobots and Decpeticons would symbolize what humanity, if we don't change, will be, and humanity, well, us.

In the end though, the humans (inadverdantly) win; the Transformers eradicate themselves.

Closing narritive

Sari: The Transformers are gone. They no longer plauge our world, and I'm no longer their pet. Humanity has won, but as we look back at the Transformers' war, we see something farmilliar. Ourselves.

(Scene pans out to reveal that humanity has pretty much come out of the war unscaved--technologically and enviromentally. A few major cities are in ruins, but most of its' civilazation has survived, albeit with a lower population)

Something like War Within, Hearts of Steel, or the WWII G.I.Joe/Transformers miniseries. Or Beast Wars: Animated.

Not to be rude, but from what I've read on this and other sites is that all you guys (can?) think of is G1 this and Beast Wars that, or I would re-do this-series-in-this-way.

I think outside the box. Heck, I don't just think outside the box, I think inside a box that's across the street!

I'm more disturbed by the "Sari in chainz lolololololol" stuff. Of course I'm sure it's all a joke... or something. Ugh.

-No religious crap. It's really lame when you can just raise an army, track down the offending deity and then light off a special Plot Device that dispatches the loser and gives your homeworld a new conspicuously shaped moon. Plus, religious people are often irritating and I imagine that religious robots won't be any more endearing somehow.

-hug Earth. Enough of Earth, how many damn times do we need to see Earth? Human characters are boring and squishy and don't turn into planes and cars and cool things like that. If you must include human characters, no children because alien robots from another world have no business associating with stupid human children that irritate even other humans.

-If we get another Japan-made Transformers cartoon, we need to haul the Enola Gay out of storage and just buzz the place a few times until they go back to engineering the toys and nothing else. I'm pretty sure RID-Cybertron has killed the braincells of part of a generation of children, no more of that ok? Thanks.

-CGI. There is nothing more perfect for giant transforming robots than CGI. Nothing would please me more than to see modern computer technology applied to a Transformers cartoon; and please no cell-shaded/"ooh we're all texture maps that look like cheap paintings" crap either. One of the neat things about Beast Wars was that if you had one of the toys with vac metal on them, they were all reflective and whatnot. Then, you'd watch the show and the cartoon model would be equally if not more shiny. Transformers is being wasted on low budget Bruce Timm-wannabe crap.

(Note: Bruce Timm is awesome and if they put him in charge that would be wonderful.)

Also they should hire Jeff Conway to play Shockwave just to piss everyone off.

Edit:

Optimus bludgeoning Megatron with a school bus full of innocents is not having a Imagination - it's just removing everything about the character of Optimus and replacing it with a soulless killing machine.

There's nothing wrong with adding new layers to Optimus' character, but making Optimus completely unfeeling and unmoved by the plight of the Human population of the world to the point he sees nothing wrong with using them as weaponry, the only thing this bot has in common with Optimus Prime is his name and Alt. Mode at this point.

As for my Transformers series, I'm firmly in the school that Transformers without Humans just become Humans that can Shapeshift stories. By putting them on Earth, and having them interact with Humanity, it keeps their extraterrestrial status, and allows exploration of our own culture in comparison to timeless beings who have been caught in war.

I'd also spend more time on background characters from the franchise or wholly new characters. In recent years, I've grown slightly enamored with Bluestreak, so he'd probably be a centerpiece of any series I would write.

..and I thought I couldn't take change very well. You can't take any kind of change at all!

They're fictional characters.

I like the Japanese-made series, moreso than the American. And you're racist.

Oh, and here's a quote from a Transformers cartoon. It applies to me, in a way.

"Time makes all things possible. I can wait."--Starscream, 'More than Meets the Eye' Prt One
