BBTS has preorders up for some new Bandai transforming cars. Some of them look pretty nice.

http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/menu.aspx?menu=3004

Maybe we'll see them stateside..

Stungun
Although the Mini-vehicles look nifty for their size, most of the bigger ones are kinda meh thanks to them using the car roof as a shield.

The gorilla-esque one looks pretty awesome, almost Transformers Hero Rhinox-esque icon-ironhide.gif
Nyarlathotep
Oh hey, Gyrozetter.

Here are the mecha models

Basically it's a toyline and arcade game that uses cards, and it's getting a proper anime later in the year by A-1 Pictures.

The plot is supposed to be kind of cheesy and very retro sort of thing, but of course it's an original so it'll probably be very weird.
Might Gaine
These look awful. Parts-forming, fake vehicle parts in robot mode, shell-forming. Bandai has captured everything wrong with modern Transformers. Quite a feat!
Buster Darkwings
The robots look a bit too much like Bakuman (or whatever Japanese kids are into nowadays) for my tastes, but at least they use real vehicle designs. I'll maybe pick a couple of the larger ones up.
NightViper
Since these are their own line of transforming robots and in no way are meant to be unofficial third party Transformers, I'm moving this to General Discussion.
ExVee
Bandai never has been any good at transforming toys.
Nyarlathotep
I actually don't mind the shields, it's different.

Also the promo pics are pretty oversaturated and the detail is washed out.

Wonder why they do that.
Goblez
I quite like them. I might pick up the main guy and giant Gorilla arms guy after I see some reviews
Liege
I like the one with the Exia-style sword.
Kalidor
The show looks like a knock off of both RiD and Energon combined and the toys range from looking like 90s transformers knock offs to knock offs of Cybertron toys.

Not knock off in the since that it's trying to emulate the Transformers brand.. but rather, in the sense that they simply cloned the ideas and execution instead of making something that is either new or good.
Nyarlathotep
It's also a card game.

Bitches love card games.
Dante
Finally a red Movie Sideswipe!

Considering all the altmode kibble, I can't help but wonder if larger, more accurate toys aren't planned, and these aren't something closer to Legends Jazz.

Also, This is just plain awesome.
Kalidor
The expensive ones are 6 inches tall in robot mode, that sounds like deluxe sized to me.
Nyarlathotep
There's supposed to be an Chogokin-ish one later on down the track.

Like how you can get Danball Senki kits but also a larger detailed model.
tec
I will be getting the Lancer and Toyota 86 ones
NightViper
The frog guy from the official website intrigues me. Kong is cool as well.

I probably won't get either, but still relatively unique ideas.

Check out Bandai's new VF-25 valkyries before writing them off entirely.

Swerve doesn't have Sideswipe's head. icon-waspy.gif

Always did say he looked more like a Gundam than a Transformer.
Asquian
I kinda like most of the smaller ones, but unless we see em on US shelves, I likely won't be buying any.

Legends Swerve does!

I went ahead and pre-ordered the GT-86 since a)it looks neat and 2)I hope to own the Scion version by this time next year.
Nyarlathotep

So yeah, it's obviously not HasTak engineering, but I think I like the aesthetics themselves a bit more then Autobot cars.

Also the anime is by A1 so it might be cool.

We'll see how it goes.
gargunkle
The modes look decent and not overly cheesy.
Dake
Shucks, the only one not pictured is the GT-86.
Copper Bezel
Yeah, I'm too spoiled by HasTak engineering to even appreciate the aesthetics (and the Gundamy head and armor designs aren't very appealing to me - I like the aesthetics of the bots to match the aesthetics of the cars.) I'm starting to understand the appeal, though, even if it doesn't work for me, which is a step up from my initial reaction to the thread of, "wait, what, why?"

These are the bigger, TF-deluxe-sized versions right? Are these model kits, or fully-assembled action figures?

I gotta agree, I do like how the robot modes look; shame about the whole 'shellformer' transformation deal with them. Still, if the articulation on them is decent enough, maybe I'll spring for some of the more appealing designs. Heh, I wonder if there's any chance of figures of the white female robot or the pink robot being made? icon-fire.gif

"wait, what, why?"

The arcade games gimmick. When you transform your car the arcade booth transforms and reveals two handles beside the steering wheel.

Proper action figures as far as I know. And yes, those are the bigger-ones.

Weren't they designed by Kawamori?

Ha, the Prius is actually not bad. The other thing is almost too much.

Wait, Bandai? ...are these basically related to GoBots?

Oh yeah, now that you mentioned it...

Actually, should be Machie Robo.
Dissever
Using the windshield and roof as a sheild is kind of disappointing to see in so many figures, but yummmmm, that deluxe-sized GT-R has my attention.
Cybersnark
The roof-shield doesn't bother me. Maybe Sideburn just started a trend.
Nyarlathotep
Bumping with a video of the Arcade game:

So basically you get cards from toys or whatever, then you can put them into the arcade machine. It's a racer, then a simple turn-based fight game with button prompts.

Seems fun, and I like the graphics.
Goblez
a lot more involved than Ganbaride or Dice-oh machines, I like it.
LBD "Nytetrayn"
I LOVE that the cabinet itself transforms.

--LBD "Nytetrayn"
tec
As an arcade fan that cabinet is awsome but will never never come state side
witch is good cos most kids here would trash it and it would become non fuctional

Get back to your porch grandpa tec.

Ok, after that arcade demo I'm serious tempted to buy some of these guys and repurpose them as Velocitronians.
rodimus primevil
It looks like they mixed Gundam with Naruto: You got the loud mouth, young kid leader trying to prove himself to the loner, the lone wolf who thinks hes too cool for anyone except secretly he wants acknowledgements, plus he wants to kill the loud mouth leader, and the girl who wants to support both but is in love with the lone wolf but is secretly in love with the loud mouth. Half way through the season the lone wolf will leave and the other two will chase after him.

Did I nail it? Am I even close?
Nyarlathotep
Considering the anime hasn't even aired yet, I have no idea.

Come back to this thread in a few months.
Nyarlathotep
And hey, a few months have passed!

So, Chousoku Henkei Gyrozetter.

It's a kid's show, but it's very brave-styled and super-robot-y. The CGI is pretty animated if a bit dodgy at times, but the show's vibrant, enjoyable cast and bombastic silliness is where the meat is. The characters are fun, they've put a lot of worldbuilding in, there's group battles between grunts and funky super attacks.

It's really enjoyable!

Oh, and a bunch of the staff have a ton of Brave and other older Super Robot shows under their belt.

Also there's a character named Micman Seki, a news telecaster, who basically narrates every fight. He's voiced by none other than Domon Kasshu, which makes for a really entertaining watch.
Kevin S
Huh. Missed this thread back in June/July. Pretty nifty looking.

They kind of share Drift's aesthetic, enough so that you could consider them the Transformers who altered Deadlock, if you want come up with a justification to mix them into your collection.
Cybersnark
Or Drift fanboys (Primus help us).
Dake
I'm still waiting for BBTS to get the GT-86 in. I figured I'd have the toy before I had the real car (though I don't mind the opposite being the case).
BB Shockwave
The jeep/hummer thing would actually make a decent Classics Brawn.
