April 6th, I've got my pre-order in at Gamestop, as I want that artbook that is supposed to come with it.
This will be the first game I've bought brand new since Bioshock 2, and the first game I've pre ordered with a bonus since....Chrono Cross.(Still have the clock sitting on my desk).
I like what Operation Rainfall's accomplished, and all I've read on this game has piqued my interest. The storyline isn't anything groubreaking, but combined with the gameplay info looks interesting. I will say the characters look to be fairly standard JRPG fare, but that's not a bad thing if they're well written.
The facebook page for Operation Rainfall has been listing tips for the game leading up to its US release, which I like. They're mostly gameplay related, so they don't spoil anything and I like having a few pointers going it.
I know it's already out pretty much everywhere else, Anyone who's already got it care to weigh in? Please try to keep it spoiler free for those of us in the US who didn't opt to import.
I partially pre-ordered because I like the bonus and the game looks fantastic, but I think doing what I can to support the initiative to bring the other 2 games over was a factor as well.
I figure I can dedicate my spare time over the Easter Weekend to become good friends with this game.

Yeah, to another system. Like the ps3.
Why?
Why does every exclusive Wii game have to be ported *or everyone want it to be* when people act like asses for wanting games ported to wii?
A wii is 99 fricken bucks. That's not even 2 PS360 games.
If you can't pay that to play a few exclusive... than to bloody bad.

Perhaps the sequel will be a multiplatform game.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zowfKGxfH1EImagine how much better that would have been with the extra omph of the current gen consoles, it's not always about graphics but when a game is about telling a story it's ideal to have superb graphics.

Xenoblade Chronicles. Last Story is a different game that's set to come out this summer, then after that they're trying to get Pandora's Tower brought over.
http://oprainfall.blogspot.com/Also, good to see the thread is only about the game, not the system its on. Because we totally have never had that discussion on this board before.

I'm just sick and tired of everyone wanting games ported -off- nintendo consoles, onto even -weaker- consoles... But then when a Nintendo game is what rejuvenates a franchise... and we want it on a Nintendo system... Nope... Not gonna happen! How dare we port it to the nintendo system!
Case in point.. Everyone wanting RE4 on the weaker system (PS2)
Then Tatsunko *Yes I'm sure I mispelled it* vs Capcon got us MvC3....But no Wii support.
And lets not even get into the Epic Mickey 2 bs going on.
Why can't people just let Nintendo have a few third party exclusives without whining abut them being ported.... EVER?

But Wii gamers like myself would have appreciated ports of games like Resident Evil 5, Dead Space and Transformers War for Cybertron. they didn't seem any more ambitious then say any of the five Call of Duty games or Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions in the gameplay areas. In retrospect it's annoying that Capcom brought RE4 to PS2 with bells and whistles and yet knocked together Dead Rising Butchered till it flopped and Resident Evil Darschmide Floppicles on Wii. If they give Wii U the middle finger with Resident Evil 6 I'll not bother with it on any platform.

I know I'm being unreasonable, but, is there a possibility of someone starting a thread about a GAME on the Wii where the thread is actually about the game, without the usual threadjiveting over porting and system graphics? Or maybe have a stickied Wii thread where all the bitching can go, sorta like how PnR has its "Is there a god" thread? If you wanna bitch in this thread, bitch about Xenoblade, tell me why IT sucks, lets get some context going on in here!
I just think it'd be nice if we could actually talk about a game once in a while, instead of every thread being the same thing, ad infinitum, ad nauseum, about the system it's on.

Yea, can't really get excited since it's on the Wii. Wish I could, but not happening.
Good on Rainfall though! Glad to see fan efforts can be positive and get results.
Now, where's my Secret of Mana 2 release?
(and to get things more on topic) - Am I correct in understanding that Xenoblade does tie tenuously to the Xenosaga universe, though not the main story yes?

None whatsoever. It was originally titled Monado: Beginning of the World, I think they used Xenoblade to mean alien blade in context, instead of it actually being part of a continuity.
Even so, I have seen a lot of people group it together with Xenosaga/Xenogears anyway. I say if it's all in the name, they need to work the NES classic Xenophobe in there somewhere, too!

The confusion's understandable considering the staff's largely from Xenogears/Xenosaga.

Sooo....DID anyone else pick this up?
It's a fantastic game. I'm likely not even close to being halfway through the plot, because of my side quest and armor set OCD. Must complete/collect them all.
So far as I've seen the story is interesting and the battle system is very engaging.

I'm a bit confused as to why people were even discussing this being ported. Monolith is owned by Nintendo, making this a first party title, and thus not subject to be ported to anything other than another Nintendo platform.

I'm in the middle of Ico HD Remix.
I'll have to get over how horrid the camera is in Xenoblade, though. Last time I played it I got seasick while going through sub quests and swinging the camera around. Uck.

I've picked this up mainly because I'm afraid of availability. It was nearly a miracle it came over to the US at all. It's only available at GameStop or online. Not too many copies were probably made...
It's a game I'm interested in playing though, so I have a copy. The Art book was a nice bonus I didn't even know about.
Played only a little of it to test it out. Then decided to hold off till I got a Wii Classic Controller. (which I now have)
Still I need to beat Tales of Graces F before I move on to another RPG.

Huh, I didn't even know you could use the classic controller. I've gotten so comfortable using the wiimote/nunchuck, though, I can't imagine shifting over now.

I'm not saying the article is right, wrong.. or even correct.. But it is an interesting read and may have some points.

Just started really playing. Wow.. First few levels when you have two or three skills, you think... "Oh wow.. combat is slow." heheheh.. "Guess I was wrong on that. Also the number of quests is mind boggling!

Yeah, if you've got any form of quest OCD, you won't have any problem with levels as the game proceeds. If anything it might start feeling too easy.

RISE FROM THE DEAD. Sorry, did a search for the appropriate thread rather than make a new one. This has recently hit my radar and I'm debating picking up a copy since my local Gamestop still has some.
I'm hearing a LOT of positive things, but trust the gamers here more than what gets said at a gaming review site. Is this something I should invest $50 into?

I say go for it... as a Matter of Fact I need to see what it looks like on a Wii U
And this game in many cases is arguably as good looking as the HD counterparts.
And don't let the combat system fool you at first. At first it may seem slow.. but soon it's very fast paced.

It's a great game, but if you have quest-completion OCD this game will drive you crazy and take forever to play. I end up playing it for days on end and then take months-long breaks before going back. I still haven't finished it
It's not perfect, but it's darn near close. I adore the voicework, and I love any game that actually changes the character's appearance when you change their armor.
Really my only complaint is with the quest system. I don't like how it loads you up with so many "kill x amount of x monster" quests, and it's almost impossible to find specific NPCs when you need to. It will tell you their schedule and general location, but you're on your own after that.
Oh, and the music is generally GREAT. I love the daytime theme on the leg plains.

I would say definitely pick up this game, with a caveat if you're OCD about completing everything this game has to offer. While the game excels in the most part in making it easy to find even the rarest items, it can still become maddeningly hard to find certain items, which could leave you hanging to complete the game's biggest sidequest. (A situation I am sadly in, and contemplating restarting over)
While the game does give you a lot of the 'find/kill so many of x' quests, keeping up on them along with all the other sidequests to a reasonable degree is a good way to assure you stay at an acceptable level for the game.
It took a little getting used to, but I do like the combat system. It's very similar to FFXII, but minus the complex gambits and with a little more control and a few other tweaks I won't go into due to possible spoilers
But that aside, this is still a fantastic RPG that deserves playing if you are even a casual fan of the genre
