Does either of these work and/or look good with the PRiD Optimus Prime?

I've been considering one of these if possible, and I'd like to know if they even function with the toy first.

My thanks.

Not compatible without modding. FE and PRID Prime's trailer hitches are a female connector, as is the trailer port on G3/BTS (as they're designed to fit over Classics Prime's "tab" hitch).

Good to know. Thanks much!

The G3 trailer would just look disproportionately huge with PRiD Prime. He's not quite scaled the same as Classics Prime in vehicle mode. I mean yeah, they end up sort of similarly sized, but PRiD Prime is designed to look like what is supposed to be a much bigger truck.

In that case the BTS trailer is quite a bit smaller than G3, so it may be a good visual fit.

I've got both trailers, but no PRID prime with which to gauge, unfortunately...

For what it's worth, the Movie Trilogy deluxe Prime's trailer doesn't look too shabby with PRID Prime. It's not exact, but it's cheaper and actually hitches. Said trailer works even better with the two-pack or SDCC deluxe mold, too.
Ursa Magnus
I had considered that trailer, but was afraid it was too small for the Voyager PRiD mold.

yeah the only way the G3 trailer would work is if you molded a custom adapter piece that connects into the 5mm hole on Prid Prime and then has a reproduction of the rectangular tab on classics Prime's legs which is 5/16ths" x 1/4"

The tab itself doesn't need to be reproduced. Just a staggered peg, with one end about the same diameter as the G3 trailer socket, and the other hand just slightly smaller than 5mm (so that the trailer can turn easily) will suffice.

I'm not a fan of the rocky jocky that's how I broke my original Powermaster prime... but yes.. technically you could get away with using something like that.

looks okay, how secure are the connections?
Ursa Magnus
Thanks for the pics, Shin. Guess I should have checked this thread before I just went out and bought the thing, right? icon-fire.gif

I like the look of all of them to be honest. The G3 has that bulk that his trailer did in the show, but the BST trailer has a cool Prime-like future tech look that's appealing as well.

Many thanks again!

Not at all, For the BTS and G3 trailers. As mentioned above, they're designed soley to snug over that rectangular plug on Classics Prime. In G3's case, it's just a hollow circle ridge of plastic that's as wide as the plug on Classics Prime is long, allowing it to fit over said plug and rotate around it. BTS's is a bit more complex, with an actual rotating adapter inside their socket. If someone wanted to make an adaptor with Shapeways that'd work all around, it shouldn't be too hard. (rectangular plug socket on top, 5mm-ish rod under it, with a thin wider disc of plastic between them)

The Trilogy/Chronicles trailer hitches as well as the DOTM Deluxe prime; Round peg on trailer goes into round hole in hitch.

I will point out that the Chronicles trailer has clearance issues if you're trying to turn; As in, the corners of the trailer do not clear the back of either Optimus' cab (or in the PRID mold's case, his shin-cover joints).

PRID is a bit too big, really. his wheels are a bit bigger, and he gives the trailer a slight tilt as a result.

But I'd say it's a better match than the 3rd party trailers. The DOTM Voyager's trailer might be perfect, but that's just a guess.
