Treadshot 2.0

Found Trilogy Prime today (the Deluxe with the trailer) at my local Target (65th Street in Sacramento, CA), and boy, does it look snazzy. But I couldn't buy it because it rang up for $30. (that is why the picture is of the toy in the Target employee's hands and not in my own with a receipt next to it.) Still... this might be a news item, as I don't recall this being sighted anywhere domestically yet.

Did he lose the gold gradient on his truck nose, or is it just not apparent in the photo?

It's got the gradient, but it's kind of faint. No painted rims though.

And that is why Transformers is headed into the toilet as a brand.

Wait - the trailer does nothing? I thought it at least opened up or something - it's just a hollow box?

It opens, but not the way trailers actually open. But there's no conversion or anything, it just cracks open. There's nothing inside it. It is cool though. I'd buy it for $20. jive, who am I kidding, if I had the dough I would have bought it anyway, LOL.

UPDATE: I talked to my man who tipped me off about this item's in-stockness, and he says it IS $30. (He said '20 dollar trailer' and I misinterpreted that. He LITERALLY meant they were charging $20 for the trailer!) It sure is a pretty box, though.

Wait, wasn't this cancelled? I mean, Trilogy as a whole?

Everything but this Prime is now an Asia exclusive. Treadshot, did the worker bee happen to mention anything about a street date? All the Targets have the TF Prime figures but aren't putting them out on the shelf.

IIRC Trailer Prime was the only Trilogy toy that WASN'T canceled in the US.

If hasbro was smart, they would have only sold this deluxe Optimus with this trailer. I'm sure a lot of people won't be getting it since the the base figure looks worse than the original release (though not necessarily worse than the crazy gold repaint) and comes with no weapons, but just a big box instead.
Truth be told, I've not been happy with any of the DotM trailers. I originally wanted both the CV one and the Ultimate one, but I've persuaded myself that I don't need them. It's kind of a shame that I've only felt the need to buy two Optimus toys from the whole of the DotM line (normal CV commander and the first WM deluxe).

With a deluxe-scale cab and a trailer that size? Yeah, that's about a $30 toy. I believe it.

Well, there's one Transformers item I'll be hunting for now. If the gold gradient on the nose of the truck cab really is faint/nonexistent, I'll probably just use the first Wal-Mart deluxe OP that I currently have instead (he at least has a gun to store in the trailer, too).
...Is it sad that I'm now also regretting not getting the second Wal-Mart deluxe OP for his giant ion blaster when I saw him?

Do we have a confirmed DPCI for this thing, by any chance?

I *think* my local Wal-Mart still has the second one. If you're interested, I'll take a look next time I'm there.

I was half-joking, actually; I've been on the fence about Lunarfire OP because counting this deluxe OP with trailer, that would be
three iterations of the mold that I'd have gotten - and they'd all barely look different.

I don't typically buy duplicates of the same mold, since I try to budget my hobby spending; I think the only times I've gotten multiple versions of the same mold are a few Mini-Con teams (just three of the sword-combiner teams, really), the Energon combiner components, and the Cybertron Hot Shot and Red Alert molds (replacing their normal forms with the Cyb Defense versions and getting the extensively-visually-different Breakaway and Cannonball). Lunarfire OP's oversized gun is tempting, but not really tempting enough to spend full deluxe price on just to get.

$30 and still no paint on the rims? I can't help but laugh anymore.

A BIG thanks to Treadshot2.0 for finding this little gem in the Sacramento area! That's where I'm at.
I went to said Target and looked for this thing. They had yet to actually put it out on the shelf and there were no tags on the shelves themselves. I didn't know the DCPI right off, but luckily it was posted in this same thread by RCX. I gave the DCPI to Guest Services and they located 2 of these in the back. They brought both of them out, of which I only bought 1.
While we've received this Deluxe mold of Prime before, I really like the coloring... with the exception of the black hub-caps. But that's not the important part. The reason most of us will buy this thing is the trailer. If you're an Optimus collector like me, then you're going to get this thing. If you don't focus on Optimus, or aren't a completionist, then you can probably skip this one. This thing is pretty... very much a sit on your shelf looking pretty show piece. As a toy, it's not all that functional. It's a hollow, flimsy feeling trailer. And small... can't forget small. I was in shock about the size when the employee handed it to me. I know it's a trailer for a Deluxe fig... but even so... tiny. But... like I said, I collect Optimus figs, so I had to have it.

No surprise, but like the Chronicle version, the trailer can be converted into a display mode for the three semi-inexplicable TF Prime McDonalds toys that were released in Japan last year. You just need to unscrew the bottom portion from underneath and flip the three panels around.
Oddly, the same screw was mashed and unremovable on both my Chronicle and Movie Trilogy versions, and a Japanese review suggests they may all be like that. Taking out the rest gives you enough wiggle room to get all three panels switched, though.

My Chronicle one was like that too. Glad to see it's not just mine.
