That's a good question. It's been several years since I actively collected, so I don't really know what counts as rare these days. Even when I did collect, I wasn't big on collectors' items; to me, toys were toys, to play and maybe display, and I wasn't interested in the weenie-waggling that typically goes with being a "serious collector."

Probably my most prized acquisition is my Korean Big Convoy. It's one of the few times I've gone out of my way to get a Transformer with a high perceived value.

The ones he hides are all part of an ultra-obscure Japanese chogokin TF line. They're made out of stainless steel, so it's no big deal if they get wet. He takes them out daily so he can stroke them lovingly while muttering about them being, "My Precious."

None. Instead, Tec uses the metal to construct a time machine, which he uses to go back in time and save his toys from the drones. He returns to the present with his toys, a working time machine, a big, fat paradox loop, and a smokin' hot new girlfriend who's into Green Lantern and Xbox games.

As a player, I like adding up my XP total and doing little things to earn extra. Bonus XP is a satisfying reward for roleplaying well, resolving an encounter cleverly, completing side goals, and generally making the game more fun.

Protip: Combat encounters are only one sort of encounter. You can also reward encounter XP for negotiating with important NPCs, solving puzzles, overcoming traps, and avoiding a fight. If players know that they can get the same amount of XP and treasure for finding a secret passage that allows them to circumvent an enemy, they're less likely to just rush in and chop the enemy to bits.
