https://twitter.com/#!/Hasui_TFMP Ultramagnus concept, based on ver.2 Convoy with G1 Ultramugnus parts.
Make of it what you will. Looks like at least one designer is considering how they'd make the figure (by slapping some G1 Magnus trailer parts on the new MP Convoy).
Also it appears that Convoy's truck mode is to scale with the Alternity this time as opposed to the Binaltech (roughly).

Cool! I guess releasing the new Convoy mold in white as Ultra Magnus is inevitable. But if he came straight with his trailer that combines into his super mode, it would make the remakes of Masterpiece figures in smaller scale worth it.

Yeah I agree that it looks a little rough. 10 years ago this would have been amazing, but in comparison to City Commander that looks like a pile of crap. How about less G1 slavishness and more updated aesthetics and modern engineering?

I'm sure if they did ever make one, it'd be more complex than having a cut-up G1 Magnus pieces slapped on the new Masterpiece Convoy.

With other lines I would agree, but this is Masterpiece we're talking about.
Its very purpose is to be a slavish to G1 as possible.

It's the 25+ year old Magnus armor photoshopped to a high end collectors toy. Ofcourse it looks like crap.

I think QH is missing the fact that this is just a rough concept. Sure the general idea will be the same, but I'm confident IF they made one it'd be better in execution than what we're seeing here. Hopefully his blue would be darker too, I want one in cartoon colors!

I'd rather have a Masterpiece Ultra Magnus that takes hints from the Titaniums figure and transforms directly from vehicle to armored robot. Mind you, I realize that's never going to happen while they can just recolor a Prime body and (maybe) add new parts.

I have no interest in the new MP Prime since he's too big to look right with the CHUGS. But I'd definately want any armored up version like Magnus or PM Prime.
-ZacWilliam, the armored up forms get more leeway from me for being a bit oversized...

If vehicle mode is roughly in scale with Alternity, then the Masterpiece Optimus is actually too small for CHUGS.

Robot mode is all that matters to me as far as scale and at MP Grimlock/Rodimus height he's WAY too tall to fit with the CHUGGERS. Sadly.
-ZacWilliam, it feels a bit odd to be asking for a MP to be smaller, but there ya go. If I wanted a MP Prime not in scale with the Chugs, well, I've already got that, don't I.

Alternity cars are 1/32, and while Classics Autobot Cars are non-scale, they seem to generally conform to being about 1/36. If MP10 does scale correctly to Alternity cars, Zac's probably right about it being on the large side to work with Classics. Of course, to my eye that comparison photo makes Prime's vehicle mode look a little small relative to that Alternity, so I'm actually not any help at all.

I'm sure MP Optimus is definitely in scale with the likes of Ultra Silverbolt and Onslaught.

The most recent tweet indicates that fan response will determine if it gets made or not.
I kinda have the feeling it will be since if they don't make it a 3rd party will, and thus Takara would lose out on possible sales.

I wonder how much of a price increase Magnus would be if any.
Prime seems to come with a lot of extra stuff, but is all that stuff equal to a transforming trailer?

I postulated in an earlier thread that making a smaller MP Convoy opens the door for them to do armored modes. The new exhorbitant price point likely is testing the waters. Is this really just G1 parts photoshopped onto MP10? They seem different, making me hope that an actual release wouldn't look as bad as the photo.
If MP10 comes with Spike that fits in the cab, maybe MP Ultra Magnus would come with Sparkplug.

And what's going on with MP10's head in that photo? Looks like it was replaced with a marble. I like how they flip the legs to make them look different. Looking at the knee joint on MP10, it appears to move equally in both directions.

Rough Translations of the Tweets.QUOTE(tackertackle@TFW2005)
Mr.Hasui's tweets gave us some informations.
Sorry for a poor translation.
"MP-10 and Alternity(s) are in similar scale."
"MP-10's container can house any Alternity figure in vehicle mode."
"Spike figurine can be ridden on passenger seat of some Alternity figures, so you can play some kind of Human Alliance activity."
"TM Firebolt was developed by the hasbro's request.
Though FB is only for US release, he would like to introduce it to Japanese market because it is his favorite piece of work."
"MP Ultra magnus' concept is already ready.
MP-10 wearing original Ultra Magnus' pieces becomes like this.
Your ardent backups may make it real.
Thank you for your continued help."
Interesting that Firebolt was Hasbro's request (but not surprising). Hopefully they release him in Japan (with more G1 based colors) at some point.

I'm going to cry...for my wallet. If there is continuity in size between Alternity and the new MP-10....even though I don't play with my figures....I might just have to get them. And that impulse is just stooooopid. But it's real and there it is.
I'm going to try very hard to fit the new MP-10 into my CHUG line. I know some people think it doesn't work....but MP Grimlock works just fine for me within the CHUGs. Optimus was bigger than most of his G1 counterparts anyway....so having him tower a little isn't a horrible thing.

I'm cautiously optimistic about both the production of this concept as well as the quality control... seeing as I would most certainty shell out for this regardless of price point (since y'all know I'm a huge UM fan and all).
There are just so many potential QC/design pitfalls for something like this... how well will the pieces stay on? How well will they hold together in trailer mode? And so on and so on... after MP Rodimus, I have to sprinkle in a bit of skepticism here and there....

Caught that but I thought it was actually molded pieces newly designed for this...I couldn't tell that they were actual G1 armor pieces.

Yeah, give me the dark blue please! Finally!
I like the way this seems to work. I don't like any concept that tries to use Prime's arms. City Commander got away with it, but not by much. This looks like a very solid concept and I look forward to seeing it.
Wonder if they can do the Powermaster. That one is a little more comlex to pull off, but everybody would love it.
