How about them ponies?

So I'm thinking about adding a cutie mark to my Stormtrooper armor this Saturday. Who's mark should I use that would be the most recognizable?

Is this full sized 501 armor?

Most recognizable would be Rainbow's followed by Twighlight's. The other mane 4's really aren't that stylized.

Applejack, with her susceptibility to the Earth Pony Madness, is the most appropriate, though, sithily speaking.

Yep, I'm in the 501st and I'm talking about fullsize armor.

I think Rainbow Dash's mark would probably be the most recognizable. I think I'd get more questions if I had AJ's mark and being wondering why I put apples on my butt.

^yeah.. Since Rarity, Fluttershy, AJ, and Pinkie's are all 3 of some mundane object, it's a bit more obscure. Dash and Twilight have more ...trademarkable...marks.

Now I just need to print the mark on a decent sheet of sticky paper and apply. This should be funny.

I'd put it on the shoulder guard as a badge, not the pelvic armor. And I personally would use Rarity (white armor, white pony) but Dash or Twilight would work too.

Back in my papa's farm we had this pony... he was a total dick man. He would buck people for no reason and was always running always from somebody if they didn't have food for him. To the hell with him.

Point is I want a pony like him to show up in season 2. We need more antagonists!

The show has a number of antagonists already. What we need is a Brotherhoof of Evil Ponies!

I beg to differ. One thing I like about this show is how many episodes we've had with no villians. It's refreshing to not always have some new evil that comes in for one episode just to be defeated by some innocent ponies with little to no ninja skills.

When we get ninja or pirate ponies, I am out.

The CMC could try to get Ninja and/or pirate cutie marks. And Pinkie's already kind of a ninja.

We've already had a cowboys-and-Indians episode. Seems like pirates wouldn't be stretching it that much further. Ninjas, though, would just be silly.

Eh. I think they can pull it off. They almost certainly won't, but they could if they felt like it. I mean, they made My Little Pony cool. In light of that, I refuse to believe that there's any idea they can't work with.

Ninjas would be less silly than pirates. I mean, they've Pinkie.

And Zecora.

That's a ninja team if there ever was one.

I would actually argue that Zecora is closer to being pirate-ish than ninja-ish.

Also, I have a theory regarding why Pinkie Pie is pink.

So, it's been brought to my attention that Ashleigh Ball's band, Hey Ocean, is performing this year at the PNE in Vancouver.

So, I wonder what the turnout will be this year for her show, and how many overt Bronies will be present in the crowd? That'd be kinda interesting to see...

Just a head's up for anyone interested in the concert:

Hey Ocean's lined up to play the final night of the fair, September 5th, 8:00pm (same time as all the nightly concerts). IIRC, all the music acts are free with admission.


Unfortunately, I'm out of town that week, so there's no way I'd be able to check it out (although I probably wouldn't have, anyways. The Fair's really not my kinda place).

Hasbro is yanking videos again off Youtube. MenloMarseilles had several videos in the half a million view range. What's going on?

Yeah, what is up with that? They were cool with the videos being on there before. Maybe because they grew in such popularity they wanted to make a DVD release for the show but knew free videos on YouTube would cut into their profits?

More than likely, it was the work of trolls and not Hasbro. Same thing happened to another pony YouTube channel a while back (TWICE), which turned out to be trolls filing false claims. He was able to eventually get his videos back.

So far, these trolls seems to be hitting the channels that have a TON of views. Hopefully, MenloMarseilles will be able to dispute that false claim and get the videos back.

Even if the claim was false, the person with the account in question still doesn't legitimately own the rights to have uploaded the content. He or she wouldn't be in a position to dispute it, unless Hasbro themselves intervene (assuming it wasn't them) and informs Youtube it's allright; but of course they wouldn't do this, even if they are okay with it. This simply isn't important to them.

Removing the Youtube episodes could also be a prelude to a BD/DVD release. Won't stop some people complaining if that's the case, of course, since they seem to be under either one or more of the mistaken impressions that...

1) physical media is dead;
2) iTunes sells the show outside of the United States;
3) Through a frirendship-powered magic transmitter, The Hub is able to be viewed outside of the United States;
4) the iTunes episodes are worth however much they cost despite the inferior colour, mere 720p resolution, banding, annoying DRM, limitations to viewing on specific hardware, and the fact you have to deal with Apple, of all companies; and/or
5) Youtube somehow constitutes a legal way to stream shows online, as if it were Hulu or Netflix.

Not that such details - it apparently being the work of trolls, not Hasbro - stop parts of the fandom from going mad with rage. Which, even if Hasbro had been the one doing it, would've made exactly no sense whatsoever. Corporation... Tells youtube to take down copyrighted material owned by said company. Not even all copyrighted material - just the actual episodes. Musical excerpts, remixes et al are allowed to continue.

And certain fans react by... Spamming the Hasbro/ MLP Facebook and sending hatemail? Really? How broken does one's mind have to be to feel entitled to having free-of-charge access to material Hasbro paid for to produce? And then flipping out all angry-like because Hasbro might be enforcing its copyright?

Makes me feel sick just to be vaguely associated with these people by way of belonging to the same fandom. And no wonder most other corporations don't bother with such niceties - for some incomprehensible reason, being nice and temporarily allowing free access to copyrighted material doesn't result in 'Thank you for allowing this for a while, I'll be sure to buy the DVDs!', but in 'ARGH WHY DID YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND YOU SCUMBAGS! I'LL BE SURE TO PIRATE YOU NOW!'. It's ridiculous.

It can be, but it certainly isn't when it's some random person uploading episodes (or movies in some cases, now that there's no limit on duration for many Youtube accounts); which is the case we have here.

I believe The Hub does have a Youtube channel, here, but it's just reserved for advertisements, promos, etc. as you'd expect. Even if they were to upload full episodes, I suspect they'd be restricted to US viewers only. So pretty much useless.

Some, sure. But there's plenty of people who are entirely serious about this kind of thing - you hear it constantly in the copyright/ piracy debates.

I think we're talking about two different kinds of people :o I probably missinterpreted your 'Trolls?' post.

True, the person wouldn't be in a position to dispute a false claim on video that he/she doesn't legitimately own, but then I wonder how others like Masterlinkx (he got his channel shutdown twice) and PensivePony were able to get their channels and videos back up and running if that were the case? The only way that I can think they could have gotten back up and running is if somehow the claims against these channels can be proven as NOT originating from Hasbro. In which case, it must have been one heck of a tedious process to go through and dispute such false claims.

Also, looks like AngryTigerP on YouTube has been hit by the trolls too.


Yea, I hate when people fly off the handle like that. They start raging right off the bat before even looking any closer to see what's actually going on. It always saddens me whenever that happens. People acting like that makes the rest of us respectable and level headed individuals in the fandom look bad, considering that's all people outside a fandom ever seem to focus on are the bad parts of a fandom.

I´ve just been invited to accompany a girfriend to Gamescom Cologne tomorrow. From what I can tell it´s an expo for video games, which I don´t care about. But it´s an opportunity to spend some time with friends so I agreed.

And now I´m checking the web, and as it turns out there will be a meet-up for german bronies at Gamescom. So in the likely case that I am bored by all the video games I can go and chat about ponies.

Muahahaha! Soon, ALL conventions will have brony meet-ups! And from those conventions, ponydom shall be spread to the farthest reaches of the world!! All of the unbelievers shall be indoctrinated into the ways of Equestria, and the world shall then be cleansed in the holy light of friendship, love and tolerance!!!

Oh man, I dreamed I went to a theme park that had ride based off of My Little Pony FiM. It was part Big Thunder Mountain Railroad & one part Splash Mountain. The carts looked like ponies from the show, I got to ride in one that looks like Fluttershy.

I had a dream about finding a Twilight plushie in a crane game.

Too bad they don't actually make any...

At least the other was more interesting.
Basically the US government ordered Fluttershy's death and sent everything to get her. The next moment I'm in the middle of New York with Fluttershy hiding under a newspaper and Twilight screaming that we need to find a way to get them back to Equestria. Then 20 soldiers come out of nowhere and surround us. Twilight and Fluttershy go all Prototype and start running on building while the soldires look a bit confused and then fill me with bullets.


And there was that time with the fever induced hallucination with Deadpool and Rarity...That was just...really, really strange.

And I wouldn´t have blamed you.


The brony meet-up was a lot of fun. The group was quite visible, what with the pony t-shirts and the large brony-banner that was held up. I couldn´t resist the urge to have a little fun:

Me: "My little pony? Aren´t you guys a bit too old to be into that?"
Brony: "No, you see, there is this new show, called Friendship is Magic, and it´s actually really good and has amassed quite a fanbase in a relatively short amount of time."
Me: "Oh yeah? But why is Rarity the best pony?"
Brony:" Yeah, really, the show has taken in qui...." *realization, grins* "She isn´t, Applejack is. Welcome to the meeting"

I didn´t bother to count the total of bronies, as people were coming and going all the time (I guess to go play video games), but there were about a dozen bronies present at all times. One had brought a Twilight Sparkle Plushie he bought off someone on deviantart IIRC. I don´t recall the name of the gifted seamstress, but the quality was top notch. I was quite impressed with it.

Much time was spent on people recounting how they stumbled upon the ponies, generally discussing the show and just plain getting to know one another.

Of course I had to show off my sculpted FIM stuff as well. I was completely overwhelmed by just how well received my Applebloom was.
I had only one painted copy with me, and that one sold for 20€ (~ 29$) in an instant, and those who missed out on that particular Applebloom already put in orders for more- so I guess I´ll be painting Appleblooms for a while.

Good to hear man. I can't believe we haven't had a Houston meet up yet...

WBM, you're going to be the Vestra of MLP. I would suggest get your prices set and open up a page.

I should probably have made the hop to Cologne ( 1 1/4 hours), but eh. Weekend. Le tired. And Gamescon fails to excite me, ponies nonwithstanding. Seems it was a success for everyone else, though, so yay.
