Just an idea I was chewing on today. The mold seems like a good candidate for repainting. Doesn't have many points where paint would rub and all that.

I'd probably leave the smaller lights alone and just scratch-build a bigger roof light (I ended up enlarging the cut&pasted light anyway). I'm not sure if I like the windows blue either. (EDIT: changed the windows to match the headlights. I kinda like it better this way.)

I'm not sure what colors I'd make the robot, except that I'd want the silver (arms and legs) painted in a dull copper.
Dunno about a name either. I was thinking "Gumshoe", but that makes me think of a detective more than an officer.


Hmmm...actually, I could add some purple and make him a Decepticon..and make my own 1940s spin on Barricade. Pair him against an unpainted Hubcap as an Autobot equivalent of a moonshine runner..

Gumshoe sounds fine to me. Looks like a really neat repaint.

I tried a copper+purple decepticon approach, but it didn't look too great. This, though, I like.

The blue is sampled straight from a 40s uniform (though I think it was a British uniform, so..he's international!)
My favorite part is the gold on his faceplate. I really like highlighting that detail.

"Flatfoot" would reuse a Mini-Con name, which is a nicely ironic cop car name (since flatfoots are beat cops without cars).

..but remembered that these are ideas for customs I'd like to do, and my skills with white paint are BAD. Ditto for filling and sanding.

I looked around some more and found some nice red+white+black ambulances for references.

I'd still have to scratch build the lights, but I could entirely skip painting the white sections this way. Just some alcohol to remove the tampos and away we go.
Some of the ambulances have rear-side windows too, but blacked out with paint for privacy, so I could leave those in.

..you'll just have to imagine the robot modes for now. No idea what I'd do about their heads. As for names, I'm thinking Fixit and Sireen. I likes me some Micromasters.

Man..I'm gettin kind of jazzed for these ideas. I'm gonna have to buy some new paints (and maybe a few spare bots, wanna keep my Hubcap and Twins too).

Too bad the icecream truck is probably a bit too large to be in scale with Hubcap.

I really like how they look in those colors. Dunno about those heads, though. Sure, I like the twins enough, but if I made this repaint, I'd like them to sort of match Hubcap's style a bit more.
Anyone know of any heads that'd fit their balljoints? I think I'll go dig around in my collection to see if I can find some.

Leave the speaker on as the siren and get some kind of dome to paint red and put over the ice cream on the roof to make the light.

Oh hell yeah! Well Hubcap at least. Don't really need more twins toys.

I actually just finished painting up the Hubcap -> Police Car idea. I'll probably not take any pics until I can get my stickers made, though. Should be sometime next week.

All 3 look great (Although I agree, you've GOT to replace herp and derp's heads...)
