I love that second Cover, even if its not final; That SO sums Darkwing up perfectly.
Stungun
HELL. YES.
Chris McFeely
Oh.

MY.

GOD.

I had better be able to get this in the UK. I couldn't order the Muppet Show.
Chris McFeely
Wait, hang on... set some time after the show, with Drake Mallard having hung up his cape, and returning to the role...?

THE DUCK KNIGHT RETURNS.
Weremole
YES!

After the first arc is done or sometime afterwards... Could a PK/Darkwing teamup be too much to ask for?
wonko the sane?
I... I...

My childhood... it still lives.

So, yeah. Gonna get this. I love Darkwing!

Oh heck ya. Bring in some Quackerjack action, little bit of Liquidator, some hammed up Steelbeak, guest in Gizmoduck, and have great fight with Negaduck and I'll be floating in Nostalgia heaven. I'll laugh if Drake ends up cubicle buds with Herb at work icon-fire.gif

Liquidator needs more love, He barely got any in the series. Only one solo episode that I recall; and then mostly becoming the Fearsome 5's aquaman.

Another villian I'd like to see make a return is Taurus Bulba. Always felt like he should have been Darkwing's Lex Luthor or Kingpin
Fero McPigletron
The article misspelled 'Louie' of Huey, Dewey and Louie. Would kids born past 2000 know who Donald's nephews are?

I too would like to see Quackerjack and Liquidator. Quackerjack had a lot of potential (he's Joker as a mechanical genius) but he also barely got any single episodes. It was always about Megavolt.

Oh oh oh, I'd love to see Gosalyn dress up as one of her many superhero personas! Also, Honker should be around since he's part of the Darkwing support crew.
Ironbite
That sound you hear is me squeeing.

I found it funny when looking back that he only appeared in the first two, and the last episode. Always felt like he did more.

HUGGING BOUGHT!!!

I really hope this comic understands the show and doesn't push the "Steelbeak is the leader of FOWL and Darkwing's ultimate nemesis" nonsense pretty much every non-cartoon iteration of DW mistakenly tossed at us.
Confuzor
Sorry for the double post, but BUMPing this for amazing new artwork.

This comic is gonna be great ^__^

This looks amazing! I love Darkwing Duck!

Things are awesome.
DrSpengler
What I'm really pumped for is the "Dark Knight Returns" angle they're going with, acknowledging that audiences haven't seen Darkwing in years and playing with that in the book.

Totally getting this.
Copper Bezel
Excellent. It's all been said, but excellent.

That. Looks. AWESOME! Significant step up from the old comics in terms of art.

When is this bitch going on sale anyway? I wanna make sure I don't miss it.

I just discovered that "Darkwing slash" does not involve any cool knives, or a sliced Darkwing. I need to go pour bleach in my eyes now

We've got preview pages, folks! http://www.newsarama.com/php/multimedia/album.php?aid=34871

Aside from some akward transitions from panel to panel in the first few pages, it really captures what I'd look for in a DW comic!

Thankfully the art is "not final" so there may be time to add sound effects to help the flow.

The script is great!

And while the panel transitions aren't as fluid as they could be, the artist has the character designs and expressions down pat. It's nice to see they aren't "stylizing" the characters to fit an artist and trying their best to adhere to the look of the cartoon.

I can't wait.
Stormrave
Looks great, and seems like an engrossing story so far, something with an interesting plot.

This project has been extended to a full ongoing series!!!

Fan reaction really HAS been huge, hasn't it?

Makes you wonder if it'll finally make Disney stop pretending like their 80s and early 90s Disney Afternoon titles never existed. The fact that they never referenced Rescue Rangers or Darkwing Duck ONCE during the entire run of Houe of Mouse ticked me off...

That would be like Sega remembering their 16bit era characters other than Sonic - Never gonna happen.

Could you imagine a dark wing figure with real cloth clothing and 20 odd points of articulation? Man... 80's geek heaven.

I can't get this in the UK! I am incandescent with rage.

Actually DW is 90's. But still that would be awesome.

Oh it started in the 80's. Some guy getting high with his friends. "Hey man... you know what would be hilarious... batman as a DUCK!"
Waspinator
It's a long shot, but I figure that if this comic book series does really well and the character gains popularity again, there's at least a CHANCE Disney might make a figure of DW. I can dream, can't?

He's more The Shadow than he is Batman. Always has been.

Waspinator
He's got Batman's animal-themed vehicles, though.
Confuzor
On top of that, he was originally conceived as "Double-O Duck" a Bond parody. Somewhere along the lines he was converted to a superhero parody.

Well that explains S.H.U.S.H., F.O.U.L., and Steelbeak.

Secret agents are basically the benchmark for competence. If you have a cartoon about a bumbling duck, he's not a secret agent. If you have a cartoon about a secret agent, then he's not a bumbling duck. Really, they couldn't have it both ways.

But a bumbling, narcissistic, meglomaniacal SUPERHERO! That's another pot of tea entirely.

As psyched as I am for OMFG NEGADUCK, his face seems kinda off-model in that cover.

Man, it really says something when out of all the comics I keep track of, THIS is the one I'm most-pumped about.
Waspinator
When is this thing due to start?
DrSpengler
DARKWING DUCK #1 IS OUT TODAY!

And it was great.

Ian Brill's scripting is incredibly tight with a gag a minute in all the dialogue. He really captures all the characters' voices and attitudes. The whole thing just felt so... right.

I think the flashback scenes in the middle of the book were my favorite part. So insane yet they could very easily have been clips from existing Darkwing episodes, too.

James Silvani's art is excellent in the character models and expressions. Everyone looks like they stepped right out of the old show. He adds a lot of energy and action to them without modifying the designs to fit his own personal style (ala the artists who worked on the Gargoyles comics). Despite it being a book, I really felt like I was watching an old episode of the cartoon.

And the Crimebots look suspiciously like Gizmo-Duck. I bet there's something going on, there...
wonko the sane?
I seem to recall that gizmoduck was in the same universe (I think he might have even ended up in an episode or two... I can't recall correctly. Oh well, excuse to watch the season discs!) The technology had to go SOMEWHERE, and removing the living component is a good a step as any.
Waspinator
Yeah, Duck Tales and Darkwing had occasional crossovers. Gizmo Duck definitely is in the setting.
DrSpengler
Yeah, Gizmoduck was in a two-parter, as I recall. Darkwing had to form his own "Justice League" style team of heroes and Gizmoduck was among them.

And, I mean, yeah, of course Darkwing Duck and Ducktales share a universe. Launchpad made that pretty evident.
Waspinator
What the hell is up with DW and his left arm?

And when's the second issue due out? Anyone know?
Autobot Bubbs
Since when is Gosalynn in a skirt? Aside from the Nega-verse... I don't recall her wearing anything other than that sports Jersey.

It's her school uniform. Darkwing sent her to an expensive private school during the year he was retired.

Gizmoduck showed up a few more times outside of the Justice Ducks 2-parter. It recalled the tired Batman/Superman argument "Are you really a superhero if you don't have powers?" DW REALLY doesn't like Gizmoduck ^_^

I'd love to have a version of the credits page as a desktop (with the title of the story, but no credits)I was laughing as soon as I opened the book ^_^
Fero McPigletron
Art's pretty spiffy. Story's just starting, not enough of Darkwing in costume. Urgh, are the hand transformations a reference to that anime Midori Days? I didn't like that. Seeing Drake so down too. Weird.

I will admit to hearing Megavolt's voice in my head when he was talking icon-hotrod.gif I hope Quackerjack plays a larger role soon (designer of the crimebots?). Same with Liquidator. It's always Bushroot (not that he's such a bad guy. The creator said something along the lines that he'd turn into a good guy if he was just left alone. I just want a focus on the other characters). And Megavolt. And Negaduck. I HOPE Morgana is brought back into this too. She's an important part of Darkwing's life.
