HIGHLIGHT to view:
ME simply no longer exists as we know it, and Shepards story is very permanently over.
All the preparation possible, even with multiplayer, doesn't change that.
Since this was untagged when posted, I figured one of the more critical components of the ending was now spoiled for me anyway, so I went out and found videos that prove this very much incorrect. There are several endings to the game, and while some are more bittersweet than others, your efforts can disprove this statement.
So, that gives me hope.
Either way, hell. This is a race that exterminates the galaxy every 50,000 years and has done so without fail with an unthinkably long time. The battle is going to be grim. I know that no matter what, I'll enjoy it.

well crap. I can't find my 'canon' savegame that I did with the romance options and quest choices I wanted to carry over. Just one where i was basicaly doing the opposite to see what else the game had to offer. Soo i get to replay ME2 entirely x.x I coulda sworn i friggen backed up that save. ugh.

my CE is still listed as shipping soon. checking my e-mail periodically at this point.
edit: might as well add this here rather than double post.
Had an amazing sendoff with the MP demo last night. I Managed to kill 3 guardians with a single bullet and 2 phantoms with another. I don't care if You're heavy widow, I love you.

I'm furiously refreshing the company store page at work, waiting for them to make ME3 available to order. There are, apparently, only a limited number of CE copies available for us. Got one!

I spent some leftover Microsoft Points on some Spectre packs, got a Turian Soldier and Salarian Infiltrator for multiplayer. Loving both! Marksman + Carnifex = how you say, too sexy. The Banshee is the stuff of hugging NIGHTMARES.

Tali is crazy hot.
I was not expecting that. Overzealous though they are, fans of that character will likely be very pleased.

Off. Metacritic scores are pounding the crap out of this game. 2.4 user review last i looked with over 400 negative reviews. Beyond the usual complains about DLC and that there are now "Teh homos" in the game I saw gay people saying they were offended at how homosexuals were portrayed, and people saying the PC version was 10gb while the consoles wer 16gb and that it definately showed in terms of lower texture res on the PC version. My copy is still shipping and i still got to finish ME2 again so i wont iknow for a while.. Oh also claims of massive plotholes, cliche idotic writing. handholding to the skyward sword degree, and a lot of the decisions from ME1 and 2 don't mean jive, let alone the ones from ME3 meaning anything in the end.

Whereas the press universally love it to pieces. Quite the disparity.
Though, I don't follow such things, so I don't know if there are a lot of politics involved there. I wouldn't be surprised. What doesn't EA have their slimy tentacles on?

The lack of a Steam version seems to have really ticked some people off, so that might explain some of the hate.

I must be crazy I've spent like 6 hours in the multiplayer but haven't started the main game yet. unlocks aren't being very kind to me either. I want my salarian infiltrator back!
been rolling primarily as a human engineer so far, while I completely dismissed the class in the first two games as being useless I think I might actually create a new Engie Shepard for my first run through of 3, can tear down defenses really well, and watching things turn their backs to me to shoot the drone is just satisfying

Part of the problem is the nature of games journalism means they often play unfinished, buggy builds that they just have to assume are better when the final game ships. Meanwhile it appears that ME3 has some real doozies in the final game, like character import not working - which justifiably pisses off people who write for Metacritic.
Then of course, some of them are just batjive crazy.

Not in this case, but I'm afraid I do know some gaming PR's who have done really objectively terrible things :-( It's a rotten industry. Not so much in actually changing scores, but the amount of times a title getting a bad review finds that review's publication is mysteriously held back until after release day is... not so mysterious.

Also, how the hell are gay people complaining? The portrayal of gays in ME3 is EXCELLENT. Take Cortez. He's gay. How do you find out? You ask about his family and he mentions a husband. That's it. Nothing special. He just happens to have been married to a man. Just like any other family on your crew. It's exactly the right way to do it.
This game is incredibly well written.

I've been playing multiplayer more than I anticipated. Having only an hour or so between work and classes doesn't give me enough time to accomplish much in-game. And they lost the planet scanning mini-game that I used to fill those time slots with.
At least I got my Turian Sentinel! But I hate his moveset! And why do I have to unlock (randomly) the ability to change the secondary colors on online characters? That's inanity to the highest degree! That was the feature I was looking forward to most, and now it's relegated to a "keep it up and MAYBE you'll get it later" -___-

All I can say is the folks who were complaining that the story wouldn't measure up to the first two are bald faced liars. This story is incredible!
I just finished what I suppose you could call "Act One" and...yeah. That was everything I was hoping for and then some. Triumph, Tragedy, Action that not even a Major Motion Picture would attempt, and some genuine Humor in there too.

Sorry to Lazarus Project this thread, but I need some help from somebody with a better ear than mine. Are the ME2 credits/main menu music and the galaxy map theme based on the same song? It seems to me like they are. The theme is louder, slower, and more ornamental, whereas the galaxy map music is a softer more up-tempo version? It sounds like they have kind of the same beats to them. Anybody else here what I mean?

I know it's a ME1 question, but how early can Ashley Williams permanently be killed? Once you sort of get over the "she's the only survivor" thing, there really isn't much to reccomend her, what with being a racist idiot who (kinda) killed Wrex, who's a hell of a lot more useful and interesting than she is...
