Ugh, I went back & finished ME1 to save Wrex, but haven't gotten around to re-playing ME2 with him.. so I have a completed ME1 file AND a completed ME2 file.. wonder if I can mix & match....

Big Bad Toy Store has pre-orders up for the Play Arts Kai Mass Effect figures. I like the Play Arts Kai stuff, but the absurd expense was always a deterrent. I can't turn these down, though. Purchased!

Strafe, I just wanted to show you what he'd look like in gray.

Wow, nicely done! That looks really good in the gray. I was looking at the ones with the pauldrons, but either would be fine. I've got stickers for Miranda and Mordin, too. I need to find a way to put those together.

The Rachni thing is going to be, well, messy, and annoying to a lot of people:

I thought it might, thanks for the confirmation.
And while I've made a general effort to avoid major story spoilers and didn't highlight much there, I saw enough to be satisfied. There would need to be a damned good reason for me to pick the former option you mentioned over the latter.

You can apparently import a ME1 save file to 3, although it's unclear as to whether you'll simply be given a mostly renegade slightly fail default for ME2 that way, or if you'll get to pick what happened with whatever acts as the Genesis comic for new players this time around.

What are these like? I've not heard of them before.

Good quality? Articulation? Roughly how big are they?

General rule of thumb with the choices in 3 is if you got to that point by Paragon or Renegade, it's best if you stick with the alignment you choose the first time.

There's a a new reputation meter, and the devs have said it's easier to mix and match your choices now, but the best results seem to gained by keeping consistent.

It does seem a bit fairer to Renegades this time though. Generally they seem to earn assets and armies more easily, while Paragons have to do more side missions and make more sacrifices (and often more personal ones too) to get the same results, but aren't bastards.

Tall. Very tall. Many of them are between eight and ten inches. What is that on the Brit side of measuring stuff, 23 centimeters, give or take?
The articulation is very good, the detail and accuracy are usually spot on. Shepard looks like the head sculpt could use a bit of tweaking.

Damned pricey, but look no further if you want a high end premium collectible. Someone else can speak to their QC, I've only admired the toys from a distance. Their Mass Effect figures will be my first.

I could take or leave Ashley, but it does look nice. Holding out hope for Wrex, and any Salarian they deem worth producing.

Total Biscuit
So roughly in scale with hot toys figures?

Hmm, bit bigger than I would have liked, and a bit too expensive for me to riskmucking up wih to get Shepard in what i now think of as his 'proper' yellow and purple armour colours. Damned customisation options runnin my enjoyment o official merchandise.

Damn it, think I might have to let these slide then. Of course if they make Tali and Liara figures to go with Garrus I may crack anyway.

For anyone not aware the Multiplayer portion of the demo is now available to everyone, and man is it surprisingly awesome!

I was never against it's inclusion, especially considering it's made by a different team at Bioware and so had zero impact on single player, but if anything it's alot more engrossing and enjoyable than it's singleplayer counterpart. The combat works so muh better in those levels and with actual human controlled teammates!

Frankly knowing 90% of the game due to leaks i was seriously considering not getting it, especially if those hugging awful endings end up being set in stone, but I'm thinking I might just by it for multiplayer now.

If anyone wants to join me on Xbox my GT is pentacost257, although this is the first time I've done any online multiplayer on Xbox Live, so bare with me if I have a bit of trouble sorting things out.

I'm in England, and will be using the Infiltrator class. I had planned on using Engineer, but I foun it's support role, and the turret or combat drone didn't suit my playstyle, which is a shame. Tactical cloak works great though. Really useful for reviving fallen teammates without getting murdered instantly.

EA is sending early copies of Mass Effect 3 into space.

Weather balloons carrying early copies of the game are set to launch from New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Berlin, London and Paris. The games will be equipped with a GPS tracking device, allowing fans to track their progress. When the balloons land, anyone who finds one will be able to snag a copy of Mass Effect 3 a week or more ahead of its release.

The balloons will be able to be tracked via Mass Effect's official site Mass Effect 3 will hit stores on March 6th for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
Esser-Z
Space. Gotta go to space. Spaaaaace.
Waspinator
FYI: the first two Mass Effects are $5 each for PC download on Amazon right now.
Esser-Z
And I've got my ME3 order in. Ended up going with the Collector's Edition after all.
Esser-Z
Also, ME3 MP is tons of fun!

For Miranda, I suggest ordering some curved torsos from Arealight. You'll have to cut the curve grooves on the stickers for it to work, but it will look pretty nice. I think I also have Garrus, Mordin and Grunt's. Just need to put them together.

Frost181
fooled around in the multiplayer a bit today, don't think I'm going to get too concerned with the leveling because none of it will transfer anyway but what i've played so far has been pretty fun.

Definitely has a different feel from the main games with enemies coming at you from all sides and having the whole area to traverse my initial concern with the a button being forced to do too many things strikes again as I find myself accidentally combat rolling into the line of fire rather than dropping into the cover in front of me.. I've been using the sentinel class primarily but I'm disappointed that they apparently changed the way the tech armor works from ME2, it doesn't feel very useful now. my friends who've been playing infiltrator seem to be getting by with the tactical cloak well enough. Don't really care for the complete randomness of the store either. so far I've really only managed to unlock thermal clips, extra human colors and a weapon mod or two for things I don't use... I want to be a krogan dammit.

for as much as it sounds like I'm hating on the game I am enjoying the shift in experience the banter and coordination between 3 or 4 people seems to be worth it, at least until a phantom show up anyway.
Esser-Z
Vanguard is so fun.

Non-random store would be nice. I want to unlock my damn Asari.

Then I'll be Shepard and Liara's (Mary Sue) daughter from the future. Bwahaha.
Strafe
If you've ever wondered what a wrecking ball with an angry disposition might resemble, look to the Krogan Soldier. Charging in, headbutting, smashing, sending dudes flying... it's unlike any other race's interpretation of a class and so much fun.
Invest points in rage and you're a juggernaut. I have yet to play as a Krogan Soldier in a game in which I didn't get at least double the total points of second place. I never did get my Salarian Infiltrator, which was my primary goal. It's not worth investing any more time in, not for a demo. I'll hit that grindstone once the game is at retail.

I dunno if multiplayer has won over anyone that was previously against it. But as someone who was in favor of it since it was announced, I'm pretty impressed.

gawd i hope they make a Legion figure <3
Esser-Z
I've been doing my best to resist all the ME figures, helped by the lack of a Femshep to lead them, but it's damn hard even so.
Frost181
I've unlocked the Asari adept and the phalanx pistol and am cleaning house with them, stasis bubble is stupidly overpowered. I'm gonna be so bad at this when I get the retail game without them unlocked and have to go back to shooting at moving targets.

The commercial made its debut tonight.

Canthros
I spent some time with the demo this afternoon. I was already buying it in the first week (and it will be quite a while before I get to doing much with it, since I need to finish replaying the first one, and then play the second ...), but I guess I didn't find the demo real exciting. The single player stuff feels like Mass Effect, the multiplayer stuff ... is a cooperative shooter that I'm not sure I really like. I was messing around with a human soldier and it felt kinda ponderous; do any of the other classes move faster?
Solarstorm
I withdraw my criticisms of the character behavior in the demo in regards to how everyone has such an attitude w/ Shepherd.

I downloaded and played the Arrival DLC and it is all in full context now.

I played ME on 360, ME 2 on PC, and planned on buying ME 3 for PS3. To have a better story, I recently repurchased ME2 for PS3 and played through it a few weeks ago, setting up a transferable save file/character. I just did the DLC packs this weekend (Zaheed's and Arrival - the PS3 version comes with Overlord and Kasumi).

Regardless of your choices, the alliance, if not the majority of the galaxy, is pretty pissed with Shepherd for the events of 'Arrival.'

Yeah, but it is really badly explained for people who've not played Arrival. You'd think the Admiral's board would mention that Shepherd was in trouble over those events as some level of explanation for the epic level of dumb they're showing.

Multiplayer is fun when you're actually playing, but the getting there with a full set of players via that matchmaking system sucks.

That just makes me want a actual Mass Effect movie even more.

That shot of the Makos and Hammerheads (Wait, wasn't the Hammerhead a Cerberus Prototype...?) was glorious. Though Ashley's new look still makes me think she's Miranda at the initial glance.
Strafe
It was, but the Alliance confiscated the Normandy and reintegrated it into their Navy. So experimental hovertanks, Turian made guns engineered from bits of Sovereign, the Alliance obtained all of their delicious technologies.
Esser-Z
And that's a wrap for ME2. Fourteen days.

extended video That just made husks a whole lot creepier for me.

edit: can't get the embed to work.
Strafe
Holy hell, Salarian Infiltrators are slippery badasses.
My squad was pinned down by two turrets, and I couldn't get to them in time, so I soloed an entire silver wave. Tactical cloak, drain energy, then snipe. Drain is especially nice if you want to steady targets like Phantoms who won't sit the hug still, and it replenishes your shields. There was much oohing and aahing from the spectators.

Edit: Oh, and another commercial.

Frost181
agreed on the salarian, energy drain is incredibly useful. I need to improve my reaction time before I can use the sniper rifles properly though, I miss having time dilation powers.
BlitzwingHaz
Think I'm gonna have to wait till my birthday to play this (an extra month) gutted. icon-screamer.gif
That video is a bit cliched but powerful stuff, I'm gonna hug some reapers up.
Esser-Z
Woo, unlocked Krogan Soldier!
UnicronusPrime
From the extended trailer we had, do you think we might actually take part in a big battle? Fight through groups of enemies and plant a bomb or something, yeah, that would be fun.
Esser-Z
Melee Vanguard is INCREDIBLY fun and very powerful, in multiplayer. Seriously, I charge around smashing stuff to death with biotic power. I only carry a gun because it boosts my melee damage!

Charging restores my shields, so my instinctive action on having them fall is to return to battle! icon-fire.gif
The Predaking
Played through the Single player demo last night and loved it! All day Saturday, I played the mulitplayer portion of it and got my human soldier up to level 20. Pretty fun game! I even got one o my buddies who hates third person games to try it and really love it.
Esser-Z
Beat Bronze with a team of two. It was incredibly badass.

Phantoms are pretty crazy, but I'm getting good at killing them as Melee Vanguard. Charge, spam heavy melee, she dies.
Frost181
our group can beat silver regularly at this point but we always wipe on wave 10 of gold, it's hard as hell to defend one position when the map is flooded with phantoms, nemesis, turrets and atlas mechs. Pretty much sticking to the asari adept and the salarian infiltrator now.
The Predaking
Well, I went ahead and pre-ordered this game. $10 off on amazon with free release day shipping and a bonus assault rifle, I couldn't pass that up.

Love the Asari Adept. It's going to suck, giving mine up once the demo is gone. I've got all of her color customizations unlocked, with her skill points set up just right.
And, that's further than we were able to get. Four times in a row, our group was beaten down on gold wave seven. Just too hard to revive everyone all the time, which I know is part of my responsibility as an Infiltrator, but it gets me into a lot of trouble. My friends are damned good and we have fun, I just kinda wonder if they're holding me back. icon-fire.gif Since I've unlocked the Salarian Infiltrator, I've yet to place anything other than first by a significant margin. Such a fun class/race combination. STG Operatives are bad mufuggas.

I had to turn down the Widow, because it weighs a freaking ton and the damage difference between it and my Mantis X doesn't impress me. I need to be able to spam energy drain on gold and silver.
Frost181
I was using the mantis but switched to the widow today, I like the penetration bonus it has of being able to blow through guardian shields and thin cover but you're right the weight of the thing absolutely destroys your recharge rate. Even with the 30% weight reduction on rifles i'm still at like 40% or something abysmal. toying around with the loadouts now to see what works well for me.
Waspinator
So, will ME3 have any music numbers?

Yeah, punching through shields is niiiice. For now, the Widow works just fine for my Quarian Engineer. I don't use many cooldowns with her, just pop out the turret (which has, like, no cooldown anyway) and an incinerate once in a while

I'd like to see how the Black Widow compares to it, but it doesn't seem to be in the demo.
Esser-Z
I'm thinking I need to move up to playing Silver. I've twice now completed Bronze with only one teammate. Vanguard is amazing.

Equip an Asari with a Sniper Riffle or a Pistol with a Scope and freeze your enemies with Stasis. guaranteed headshot.
Frost181
my Asari is equipped with a phalanx with a scope, anything else is too heavy and damages her recharge time too much. stasis bubble is amazing, although I noticed on gold that the phantoms can apparently be immune to it.

I'm getting a little better using the rifle with the Salarian but missing with a 1-shot rifle can lead to unpleasant encounters. debating about going back to the mantis so I can carry the predator as a sidearm, but I like how the sheer destructive force of the widow can compensate for my lack of accuracy. I'm hoping maybe if I get the widow a few levels higher it'll get considerably lighter.
Esser-Z
So, Silver utterly murdered my Vanguard. My playstyle just doesn't work with the heavier damage coming at me. icon-fire.gif

Its so hard to get a game with people on this, I guess its because I'm level 1. icon-megs.gif

if you stray far from bronze people tend to kick low levels unfortunately, if you get through a match you should level pretty quick though.

Anyone know if your weapons you purchase with one character will carry over to another? Or do I have to unlock all these weapons for each class?

Yeah, but if you beat a Bronze game, then you get to level 5 instantly.

Weapons, weapon upgrades, both are shared between your multiplayer characters.

So, one of the copies of Mass Effect 3 that was launched into space ended up in the Grand Canyon. Whoops.
