Making this as sort of a counter-balance to the Feel-Good Thread. I am aware that we had a thread for negativity/anger/etc., but what I've got in mind falls outside of that. This thread is for small things that bug you. They might incite irrational fury, or just grate on you a bit. Either way.

So as an example, here's two that's bugging me at the moment -

People who get behind you in the drive-thru at night and have their brights on.

And doing a short errand during the colder months, and the car only getting to a comfortable level of warmth by the time you reach your destination.

So, fellow Allsparkers, what's eating you these days? icon-hotrod.gif

People who lick their fingers to sort money before handing it to me really gets on my nerves. Thankfully I can at least get away from the register and wash my hands every so often.

I just watched Paranormal Activity. It's dark, I'm alone, and now I can't go to bed.
Why do I do this to myself? And wtf was that noise? I'm too old for this crap, so I'm a little annoyed atm.

I bit my tongue earlier and now it's got a tender welt on it. :\

People who park in the hugging fire lane – right in front of the "NO PARKING" sign – for five, ten, fifteen minutes and then try to tell me it doesn't count because they aren't parked; "the car isn't in park" or "<they're> waiting, not parking". You're parked in the hugging fire lane and you hugging well know it, you lazy piece of jive. Get your piece of jive overpriced car the hug out of my fire lane and stop rolling your eyes at me.

I commute daily by car in NYC. But I guess there isn't anything minor about that.

At my work there is the large dining area, the area behind the counter and one hallway that you can SEE when entering. (course not if you come in the door to the patio, but it doesn't matter)

Now any SANE person would look around the dining room and see that the only place that could POSSIBLY lead to a bathroom would be down the ONLY HALL you as a customer can access.

Yet I STILL get asked all the damn time where the bathroom is. Do these people not even BOTHER to use their brains to solve this problem? Let's see, it can't be behind the counter. It's not on the walls that are only wall and no windows/doors. So that hallway to the left of the counter has to be where they are huh?

Also when a manager tells you to do something that makes no difference to anybody but managers. Like today a co-worker of mine had on a long sleeve white shirt under our red t-shirt uniform to keep warm. They were told they had to roll the sleeves of the white shirt up.

Hugging WHY?! Huh? No one, and I mean NO ONE is going to come in to eat, see them wearing a white long sleeve shirt like that and go "Oh my god! They are wearing a long sleeve white shirt under that work t-shirt! We can't eat here!" >_<

God I could go on. Sorry, little things bug me.

Hey, that's what the thread's for. icon-fire.gif

This requires a bit of a setup...most of you have probably been to the McDonalds' that have the drive-thru that filters from 1 lane into 2 lanes for ordering. Well, I get annoyed when people zip around the entire line and cut in front of people to get to the second ordering lane. Inconsiderate and oblivious people annoy the crap out of me.

Come to think of it...I think this is the wrong thread because this annoys me a great deal. icon-fire.gif
Stackups immy
Last night Dad and i went to dinner at the Irish pub down the street...we were joking around and talking about the music cause it all made us want to get up and do a jig...and the woman at then table next to us stopped her conversation to say "You shouldnt go to an irish pub and expect them to be playing Hard Rock.", in, what i can only describe as, an Elitist yuppie holier than thou bitch tone of voice, dad ignored her and i turned to her and just said "Yep."...and apparently my answer offended her because i didnt kiss her rude as hell ass...

So whats annoying me? Rude people who think their crap doesnt stink and theyre better than you (except for C.M. Punk =] )who get their panties in a bunch when you treat them with the same level of disrespect they gave you.

Hah ha, thats funny...i cant stand people who walk up escalators, or if its a small one tat isnt very wide, get mad if the person in ront of them DOESN'T walk up...if you want to use stairs...TAKE THE DAMN STAIRS!

Also, people who add or remove letters from words...like "Warsh" and "Idear" and "Libary"...and anyone who says "Nuk-you-ler" instead of "Nuclear".

And the phrase "A couple three", as in " A couple 3 days ago.." or "i picked up a couple 3 apples at the store."

Peole who use a "Specific number of items or less" lane in a supermarket with more than the limit of items, 2 nights ago in the 20 or less line the person infront of me had 26 things, and seemed really mad when i called them on it...like it was my fault they couldnt count.

damn that was alot of things, haha

Let's just go with what I've dealt with today:
*Waking up in a cold sweat when it's about 50 in the house
*Realizing I've spent over $120 on gas this month (due to moving)
*Finding my one clean/comfortable shirt for work is wrinkled to slag and back, and praying I could get it presentable before I had to be at work. I could not.

Admitingly I walk up escalators. Though if the person in front of me doesn't walk up, I just stop behind them and wait. Not going to tell them to move it, that's just silly and rude. I do think I slow a bit at the top so I can get my timing right to step off and not trip myself up. I hope I don't stop short.

Really I don't see a need to stand still on an escalator. Course as for the 'use the stairs' comment. Well the place I do this the most, aka my mall, doesn't have regular stairs. Only escalators.

On a different note: Another minor annoyance.

Long story short: A roomate of mine doesn't have any sort of credit/debit card and likes to order stuff on Amazon. So he gives me the cash and has me use my debit card to do it.

Middle of October he wants to order like five packages. Since I'm doing such a large order (It came to around 150) I decided to purchase a package of my own during this. Two days later I get email confirmations that all my packages have shipped. Including mine.

Within a week and a half all of my roomates packages have arrived.

I'm STILL waiting on my ONE friggen package.

or people that have somehow fooled themselves into thinking theyre better at everything then you are, and infact if you dont do something the way they do it, or you dont have the same opinion about something that they do, youre obviously an idiot.

or when people drive and scream at other drivers, but never admit to doing anything wrong themselves.

People who walk slow! I don't people people who can't walk fast, but people who take up whole lanes in store walk ways because the meander side-to-side.
Also, people who don't flush. especially at work. I mean c'mon, if you clog it use the damn plunger that's right nest to the toilet to un-clog it!

I saw one that had two order lanes that merged into 1 payment/pickup lane. Like... WHAT!? Why? That sounds awful for the costumer and the facility.

Yeah I don't like to use urinals for a few reasons... Once I made the mistake of using a urinal in the middle of a set of three, because it didn't have urine or hair in it. And before I could even begin there were two people beside me... aw man... I usually just use the stall. Less chance of splashback anyway.

On that note... yeah seriously what is with people not flushing the toilet? Ugh...

At my university some of the water fountains have signs that say "Please do not spit in the fountain."
Yuck. I hate how some people think they have to spit everywhere.

Oh man, you're my minor annoyance.

Escalators aren't for standing still. They're for walking up and getting to the top even faster than stairs. If you want to stand still while moving up, take the elevator.

There was a guy complaining to everyone in one of my college classes about how horrible gas costs are for his 10 minute commute (in a H. civic) and how he only had enough financial aid to cover his tuition and books, so he has to buy his own food! He also ranted about how it's unfair because college students shouldn't have to work...it defeats the purpose of college.

As someone who drive 80 miles a day to go to college, who works his ass off 40+ hours a week in a factory...I was ready to hugging kill the kid.

Amen Solarstorm. My brother keeps getting help from the family instead of taking a frickin loan like a man.

And largest annoyance of the day: 10 minutes ago, I was all set, nice easy last hour and a half, then three kids all start acting up and boom, my office is loaded with students again. Sigh. It's what I deserve for thinking I could coast out the rest of the day, but still. Schmucks.
Hallucination
There's nothing wrong with your parents paying for college. It's having a disproportionate sense of entitlement (ZOMG CAN YOU BELIEVE I HAVE TO BUY FOOD) and taking the money for granted that's aggravating.

QUOTE
So, the escalators on the Metro are so often out of service, we just had to know WMATA's explanation. They gave us one.
Here's Metro's unedited explanation of the escalator issue. We added some information in brackets.
...
Although the mantra seems to be stand to the right and walk to the left, people really shouldn’t walk on moving escalators. Simply put, escalator steps were not intended for walking. They are much larger than regular steps. Walking increases the risk of tripping, falling and being injured or hurting someone else.

[Walking up or down an escalator is not only potentially dangerous, as Metro says, but it causes more wear and tear, according to "Mathematics and Physics for Programmers." (A true must read!)
QUOTE
"Subway operators often complain about the additional wear and tear on the machinery due to people walking up the stairs. If people choose to walk up the escalator, then the escalator has to exert the force necessary to propel them faster. This means it needs greater power. On the other hand, increasing the velocity decreases the time during which they are on the escalator, which decreases the total mass being lifted."
Furthermore, standing on the right causes additional mechanical wear and tear.]

This might be slight above a 'minor' annoyance, but close enough:

Trying to get a new apartment. Nice 4 bedroom one. Was told during first couple of calls that myself and any roomates would have to make three times the rent.

Was told TODAY that -EACH- person had to make three times the rent. They don't group roomates together.

If I made THAT kinda money a month. I'd own a friggen house, and not be bothering with an apartment. 4 bedroom or not.

Spot the mistake in these sentences: I'm loosing my mind! Universe Cheetor's balljoints are lose!
Worst of all is that people see other people confuse these two words so often that they repeat the mistake and NEVER LEARN AND KEEP DOING IT.
