There's a crack in there somewhere about how even the guy who draws the movie comics makes the Ongoing faces look more G1, I just can't find it.

Bodywise, Milne didn't do that much differently than Figueroa.

Facewise? Those are a lot more expressive.

Really? Rodimus there has the standard Milne :| face, Wheeljack's expression is covered up with a mouthplate, Mirage's is... I'm not sure what it is. Might be another :|.

Cliffjumper has a smile.

I don't know if Cliffjumper's smile is strong enough by itself to trump Don Figueroa's faux-movie faces.

I much prefer the homogeneity of Milne's take on the new designs. They have the small detail work spread evenly throughout the character model, rather than focused on the face and neck. I also much prefer the added flair and dynamic quality to Hot Rod in this piece, something that I've felt to be lacking in Don's character model thus far.

Of course, it helps that Milne has done a better job of posing the characters here, and a better job of varying line wide as well.

And yes, I'm glad to see the return of the classic liquid-metal faces. That smirk says a thousand words, and there's no way Don's art could pull off the same.

Gotta deal in relative terms here. In Milne's case I can at least tell that they have expressions, because their faces aren't obscured by superfluous mechanical detail.

I really hate those segmented door wings. They're such a small little thing but I totally despise them.

Really? I think it's pretty neat. I'd love to see it on some future toys.

Rodimus, Thrusting his hips in your general direction! OH yeah!

I prefer Milne's versions.
