IGN PS3--article

Apparently, agents are using the PS3 because it can run Linux and has the processing power of an $8,000 computer. It's processing power is being used to crack encrypted pornography on seized computers/electronics.

well all I can say is that 1 they won't be using them for long as Linux boxes. The last time I had it installed on my PS3 it was killing the video card, because there was no way for the software to turn off said video card when the display went to sleep. It was physically possible from what I remember. Also they won't be running any ps3 processor farms with the slim PS3. It cant run Linux, Sony took out that function

Handy.

Considering the PS3 can't even run 720p Video smoothly in Linux.. I highly doubt all of this.


It sounds exactly like the PS2 launching nuclear missiles thing.
