The best part is that they made him Transformer-sized.
Shockprowl04
Yeah, picked the issue up just for him. Niceness. He even returned to being the size of a standard Transformer.

Edit- Ninja'd by Magnusblitz!

What the hug happened to Beast?
chiasaur11
Different artist.

Good comic. Liked. And, better still, it seems our favorite freelance peacekeeper's going to be in at least five issues!

Good news, yes?
Spark
Wow, that's like the first time Death's Head has looked good, um, ever.
Esser-Z
He has a very Warhammer 40k tinge to his design. I like it.
Mouse_Pad
What comic is that?

death's head looks awesome

its SWORD
It's Walky!

S.W.O.R.D. #1. Not to be confused with "The Sword," which is by some other company.
Creature SH
Nice twist to the design. Shame that there's no way of getting a figure of that, with Marvel Legends being effectively dead and all.
Spark
Um... There's Marvel Universe, which is doing just fine.
Broadcast
That is gorgeous! I may buy this series purely for that! If Marvel is using Death's Head, does that mean there is no chance of im appearing in an IDW TF comic?

For the record, i didn't even realize that actually was beast and not a simmilar-looking mutant. A little too Bothan for my tastes.

Marvel definitely owns Death's Head. He's appeared in several other Marvel comics besides Transformers over the years, from Doctor Who to Fantastic Four.
chiasaur11
Mostly done by Furman hisself, although the FF appearance was part of Walt Simonson's classic run.

He killed a Kang in that one.

There's a perfectly active line of Marvel figures.

Itsy-bitsy, tiny, small Marvel Figures. I'm aware.

Marvel figures scaled such that they can interact with G1 toys that were Microchange molds in a former life.

Ponder that for a second.

I would pick up S.W.O.R.D. because Kieron Gillen wrote a very good Beta Ray Bill miniseries a while back, and with Bill slated to show up in S.W.O.R.D it should, by all means, be a done deal.
BUT
Kieron Gillen is also going to pick up Thor after the end of JMS's run. And I try not to subscribe to two ongoings from the same author because I need to afford variety. BUT I might end up getting S.W.O.R.D. in trade-paperback anyway IF Kieron's current Ares miniseries stays good.

I do not see his back in that page. I accuse you of false advertisement.

Plus they've released 12 inch figures as giant figures in this line, and will possibly release a giant Galactus too

They might do up Death's Head large. Maybe. Hopefully

I really dig Beta Ray Bill but I was seriously underwhelmed by the Stormbringer series (I think that's what it was called). I want to say Oeming wrote it?

Yeah, that was bad.

But Gillen didn't do that. He wrote Beta Ray Bill: Godhunter, which is from all I've heard awesome and win. Got it coming from Amazon at the moment, so I suppose I'll know for sure soonish.

Of course as someone who dutifully collected and built the ToyBiz build-a-figure Galactus, that's less exciting to me.

I'm actually mildly shocked to discover, after some research on Wikipedia, that this Kieron Gillen is the same guy who used to write in several videogames magazines I used to read in the '90s. Strange sometimes how people's career paths take them.

He's still doing that kind of thing. Ever read Rock Paper Shotgun, one of the best gaming sites on the internet?

Gillen's one of the core four writers there.

Worth knowing, yes?

It has a nice cloak.
Daggor
He looks great. I'm sold!
Rosicrucian
Looks kind of like a compromise between Death's Head and Death's Head II, really.
Blacknife
Now for Josie, Lee, Hector, and Katrina...

*runs for the hills...

This first issue was awesome.

His sole appearance here almost makes up for Furman's horrible Death's Head 3.0 run.

Looking forward to the rest of the series icon-hotrod.gif

As others have noted, it's from S.W.O.R.D. #1, but to expand a bit, it's basically taking a character from Joss Whedon's run on Astonishing X-Men - Agent Brand, who's head of SWORD (the extra-planetary counterpart to SHIELD) and running with her in her extra-planetary adventures. And Beast from the X-Men is there too since they're romantically involved.
chiasaur11
And Lockheed is there because hard drinking space dragons are awesome.

Really? I hear a definate Eastern Europe/Soviet Russian accent for him. I always have. Always wondered if that was intended or if it was just something my brain decided. The ending sentences with a question seems a steriotypical "Russian speaking English" thing, yes? So maybe that's it.

That's what Sslithe did too. Every sentence ended with a "yes?".

As someone who dislikes the 6 inch scale, I scoff at obsessive fans who claim that Hasbro is ruining everything! Finally 1/18 fans strike back against Marvel Legends... Or something!

(Now if only they'd release a Fing Fang Foom on his own too...)

Oh, I have nothing against folks who get Galactus that way. I just won't because I already have him. Heck, they might even use the same mold.

SWORD #2 preview. Lots of DH: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=pr...&disp=table

SPOILERS for SWORD 2:

HIGHLIGHT to view:
What's interesting is given DH and Beasts interaction it seems they're suggesting this happens prior to all DH's previous TF appearences, at least on his personal timeline.
