Check these rare pieces of TF History out!

QUOTE
These original paintings were created by several commercial artists in the 1980s for toy giant Hasbro for usage on the boxes and packaging for their new Transformers toy line that began in 1984 and continued until 1990. This era of the Transfomers, known as "Transformers Generation One," became one of the most beloved toy, comic book and cartoon series of all time, by collectors old and young. It has spawned countless spin-offs in cartoons, comics and movies over the last 25 years.

This packaging art was uncovered a decade ago by a single collector with over 35 other Transformers box art paintings and it has remained in his private collection since. To date less than 70 Transformers Generation One original box art pieces have been found of the hundreds that were created.

Traditionally Hasbro would hire different advertising agencies to provide packaging artwork who then commissioned freelance commercial illustrators to design and provide final art, like S. Daly who painted many of the early Box art graphics from 1984-1986. These pieces were painted using a mixture of gouache, watercolor, and airbrush on thick illustration board. This is one-of-a-kind original on 15" x 20" art board with an image area of approximately 12" x 13". Truly a piece of Pop Culture, Comic Book, and Toy history, it is rare for any original Transformers packaging art to come up for sale.

I'm confused, the front page said these were original paintings done as toy box art so I took that to mean they were original paintings done in the same style as G1 box art. But these are just the original box art. Where are the original paintings done in the same style as G1 box art?

Silly Hornet, they ARE the art from the G1 toy boxes. Just not a print or a copy...the original freaking drawings.

Priceless if you ask me, I'd kill to own one.

Oh I see now. I still think it would have been funny to see some modern TF's drawn in G1 box art style.

Normally I dont mention such things, but someone involved with the wiki should save those images, they are gorgeous.
