Fantastic Anime series from the 90's has always been a fave of mine since i was 15 when it came out in the US back in 1996, i use to get up every morning at 6:30 and watch this show before going to High School.

It has such a great sense of humor despite some cheesy dubbing and lots of action. If only Bandai can release this on DVD with both the Dubbed and Japanese Language uncut with subtitles version, that would rock.
Nutjob R/T
This show was so awesome.

From the stories I've heard, the original japanese version was played kinda straight. It wasn't until... Who was it that did the dubbing, Saban? They got the video of the show as made, but the transcripts of what the hell is going on here? got lost somewhere along the way, and thus they just made it all up as they went along.

Thus, you got a spoof dub of a spoof anime, and it was hugging batjive insane and thus awesome.
Asquian
I remember watching this in the same block with Dragon Ball Z at like 5 am on Saturdays.

It occurs to me that now I watch One Piece and the new Dragon Ball show fansubbed at like 11pm on Sundays...

Well after watching some episodes of the show on youtube, it holds up quite well and i love those pop culture references.

But i never knew how gay and Flamboyant Big Cheese is, i mean she goes out in Drag sometimes, wears queer-like make-up and and talks all funny. He's probably the gayest villain in history.

I loved that show, I even had some of the toys, they were hard to get hold of in the UK but i manged to get hold of a few of them.

Wait, wait, there were toys?

Anyhow, I caught a bunch of episodes on youtube a while back. Tis quite funny most of the time, though I don't know if I could sit through the entire series. The insane made up as it goes dub is definitely what makes it shine.

He might be talking about the old Bandai model kits of the three Cats (with super armor), and the four auxiliary squad members.

Although, apparently one of the high-end Japanese figure companies (Trying to remember which, maybe Max Factory) put forward a list of their upcoming plans for their Gokin (diecast figures) line at one of the recent hobby shows. On that list was "Kyatto Ninden Teyandee", or what became Samurai Pizza Cats in North America. No pictures, though. Just an annoucement.

So we might be seeing high-end diecast SPC figures in the next year or two. Hopefully they're not too expensive (and given their cute, deformed designs, I don't expect the figures to be huge), so that it's not too difficult a prospect to consider buying all three (if all three are indeed released). And I hope they include the super armor.

Lol; I'm not sure if anyone, whatever their preferences, could find Samurai Pizza Cat's lead female hot. This was one of my childhood favourites, so I remember it fairly well. There really wasn't much of a difference between the girl and the two guys, other than her armor being red/pink. Oh yeah, and she's also a cat; and most of the posters here are probably human.

EDIT: That said, there's no saying her outfit can't look kinda cute on a human:

Samurai Pizza Cats? OH YEAH! XD

I enjoyed watching this hsow back in the 90s, but for some reason it always gave me a headache. Too bright and loud I suppose. Regardless of the pain it cause my head, it's still wonderfully insane.

I love this show! Possibly the only anime I'd rather watch the dub for.

Oh and 2 words "Poly Ester". Meow!
DrSpengler
Ya know, GG reminds me of a bad episode of Family Guy, when there's no substance other than "Hey, remember when this happened in the 80s/early 90s?"

On-topic, I liked the show. The fact that the writers just watched the episodes in raw Japanese and came up with their own original spoof material was genius.

When I worked for a company called Bloggy Network I had to write an article on the show, so that involved watching several episodes of the series in Japanese. It was pretty dull and straight-forward, albeit with the usual generic kids anime gags.

Samurai Pizza Cats was in every way an improvement. I kinda wish we'd get more shows like it. The last thing even close that I can recall was the English version of Duel Masters, but it wasn't very good.

Ya know, in a way, Saban's dub of Samurai Pizza Cats kind of set the trend for their future dubs of shows like Digimon and Robots in Disguise, where they'd insert a lot of original and self-referential gags rather than straight-up translating the Japanese script.

Granted, Digimon was far more even than Samurai Pizza Cats was, but it was a great trend that I really miss. Most dubbed anime these days are the dull precise translations. I really miss the effort and fun Saban used to insert into their dubs...
Asquian
It seems like it's dull, straight on translations, or 4kids.

Yeah those are the ones I had, they were pretty good quality and had a butt-load of accesories. I had Speedy, Guido and two of the auxiliary squad, one had a helicopter pack and the other was water themed I think, probably still got them packed away somewhere.

I'd be all over some new SPC figs especially if they made Bad Bird and some ninja crows icon-silverbolt.gif .

It wasn't even raw Japanese. Saban licensed the show visuals only. They didn't have even remote snippets of audio to at least come up with general context of things. Hence, the "make up absurd crap" direction the show took. And it was awesome.
spikeriley
This was a good anime. Scenes from the show were on Masked Rider and the lost pilot episode to Mighty Morhin Power Rangers.

This show also had an NES game, but it was only released in Japan for some reason.

While I do suport the idea of releasing it uncut on DVD, Disney may have a say in it, since they now own Saban for life.

I actually stumbled across a download of the entire series just the other day and went nostalgia-tripping. The strange dancing robot things throw me off.

Man that show... I laughed, I stared blankly going "Bwah?", and I just sat back and enjoyed it. Sadly, it was on right as I had to catch my bus, so I only saw it if I was late.

Memory might be hazy, but I remember this being on in the same block as Beast Wars and ExoSquad on my local station.

Sadly all I can really recall is the theme tune, a few snippets here and there, and some of the final battle episodes. I kept waiting for Polly and Speedy to hook up

This is a series I do wish hit DVD. It may not be as great the 2nd time, but it was still one of those shows that was fun. Some of the silly things I still remember:

- The princess always threatining to send cast members to Extras Island.
- The Ninja Crows. (The Imperial stormtroopers of anime!)
- Bad Bird. I really liked this guy.
- Francine and her various announcements.

That's actually Lucile the Ram chick, and some of these furries are part mecha. Polly was cute but not sexy, now Princess Violet was a cutie all the way! i prefer the sexy type of furry chicks like Minerva Mink, Lola Bunny, Callie Briggs and others.

Disney owns Saban? really? i noticed that when they owned Power Rangers and X-Men the animated series.

Yep, in the later episodes, as far as I remember they used the birds to unlock a pyramid that split in two to reveal a big cat statue that turned into The Great Catatonic.
