http://www.tfsource.com/products/view/product_id/890/For those that didn't like the gray add-on kit, TFSource will have an exclusive white version this holiday season. Plus apparently more holiday add-on goodness to deck your halls!

50$? That's some expensive "stocking stuffer" right there.
Also, why does that kit have a Jazz-style visor for Superion?
Jeremy
Nov 9 2009, 08:25 AM
Because G1 Superion has a visor, and the blue color matches the clear plastic on the existing toys.
I'm really, really glad I don't think I like this version better than the one I already have.

Yeah but Superion had the "sunglasses" style, not Jazz-style.

I think the Energon one was supposed to have a single-panel visor. Goes with the face design more I think.
Powered Convoy
Nov 9 2009, 09:49 AM
He has the single visor like Jazz's on the Universe packaging.
I like the white, and I'd tend to think it would look better than the gray, but it's not quite as good due to the components' darker colors than their G1 counterparts.

Cool and all, but this is something I can pass on. I purchased two of the first one already to go with the Energon and ROTF Superion combiners and am really pleased with how the grey matches them. This is a cool G1 homage and all, but I don't need to run off and purchase another Superion just for this.
Maybe if the ROTF version's limbs were a spot on match in coloring to the original G1 versions I would cave, but as it stands, the grey coloring of the original add-on set really works well with what we got.

I don't suppose anyone has heard anything about a Bruticus set? Or does the add-on fit both?
Powered Convoy
Nov 9 2009, 10:38 AM
The add-on doesn't fit both, and the company is considering doing a Bruticus one.

I received the normal one yesterday, and I'm really loving it. The only thing I'm a little unsure of is the sculpted nose to the visor.
Also, though this is no fault of the set, the legs on Airrazor and Air Raid are a little loose to hold up the arm components.
Having it now, and seeing the more G1 colored white version, makes me want the white version. Perhaps I'll give the gray one to my SL Superion?

"Limit of 2 pieces per customer, this set will also include some other holiday bells and whistles that will not be revealed until it ships."
Anyone receive this set yet? I'm curious as to what the "holiday bells and whistles" are.
Also, I loved Grungy's costume, lol. Nope, can't tell who that is under there.

There really aren't any...
You get a 2-sided one page comic on card stock that is essentially a little advertisement for Defender.

Huh. Assuming that you ordered yours before X-mas, that's not really "bells & whistles" at all is it?
Still glad I ordered it though. Have to wait and see about the price on the Bruticus up-grade before I pull the trigger on that though. Considering that it comes with at least one (to our knowledge) whole new figure , it'll probably be much more than $50.

It does work great with Energon Superion. Though the jets on the shoulders sticking way up sort of bug me. That's why I modified the transformation some (seen in page 9 of the TF picture thread). I wonder, if the Bruticus mod is successful, if they would consider doing a Superion 2.0 set.

That looks cool, but I think the shoulders stick out too far now. I prefer the way they look sticking up.

When did you order yours? I ordered mine on the 3rd.
I just found that the Star Convoy I bought off ebay has left Hong Kong today, I bought it on the 5th. It'll be interesting to see which gets here first, the item being sent from the same continent, or the one coming from China.

Mine arrived last week. Very cool set. The only extra I could see was a one-page comic promoting their version of Springer.

Happy birthday!
As awsome as it looks in pics, it's twice that in person. I love that all the Aerialbots now have their own weapons, especially Silverbolt, and not just those lame-ass "energon" weapons. God I hated those!
I'm still marvelling at how all the pieces have been designed to be not only be used in the combined mode, but in the individual jet and bot modes too. It would have been so easy for them to just create something for Superion, but be totally usless outside the combined form. They really went the extra mile.
The only downfall is that due to the way you have to conbine the arms now, they don't have any lateral movement anymore.
But who cares?! It's awesome!
I can't wait to see what the finished Bruticus set looks like.

Yeah that's going to be mind blowing if they pull off turning a tank in to a space shuttle like the teaser pictures show. Any one know where to find those?

"Turning a tank into a space shuttle"? Explorer is an entirely new figure; not an add-on to Blast-Off.

Yeah they do. The balljointed hips of the jets used to form the arms are still free. They're a little low for lateral shoulder joints, but it's not too bad.

That's true, I hadn't thought about that.
As far as the Bruticus set is concerned, I kind wish that they'd make a basic and deluxe set. The deluxe would obviously include Explorer and everything else while the basic would just be parts to up-grade Bruticus, but keep all the bots he comes with.

There's a set from
kidbash (yourreflection on TFW) that upgrades Bruticus and has a conversion piece to let E Strongarm join up as Swindle. Sadly, it's $70, unpainted, and roughly half the kit is cast parts rather than original sculpting. While I've heard the guy does brilliant work, I think it falls a little short.
