S250 at TFW has posted about a new repaint of ROTF Dirtboss. Not bad, looks like a forklift I used at my last job. icon-fire.gif

That just takes me to another link.

Here's the direct link: http://item.taobao.com/auction/item_detail...f432ec8b63f.htm

It lacks the white to be Spoons. icon-screamer.gif
NightViper
It has white...just not enough.

Ah well, I'm still going to get it. Any Spoons homage is better than none!

Along with the prefix MR, which I think we can all safely assume is referencing Machine Robo.

I prefer the gray/silver to the white, on this mold, at least. Anyway, Gobot homages are instant winners! Kinda wish they'd switched his faction, but I guess I could consider this guy another part of the Constructicon legions, which ain't bad.
Rust
If it's a Gobot Homage, it has my money.

Nice! icon-ironhide.gif

He's there to help Treds keep Bugbite, Bad Boy, Crasher and Dart in line.
Jeremy
Looks nice, and another character to join the "Classics" Go-Bots homages is a good thing.
Gunrage
MORE? jeez, they've repainted the whole first wave! In fact, I think they've repainted everyone except for Ejector and Scalpel.

GOBOT HOMAGE WHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats a good thing IMO. I'm still waiting for a Cybertron Scattorshot repaint.
It's Walky!
SPOOOOOOOOOOONS!

I had a Spoons as a kid. This one will be mine.
Octavius Prime
He's literally "Mr." Spoons, isn't he?

Kinda wish they'd switched his faction,

Why? Spoons was a Renegade, makes sense for his homage to be a Decepticon.
Powered Convoy
The Gobot homage just got this guy bought my myself and my older brother I imagine.

Huh. Guess my Spoons was a traitor for the entirety of my childhood Gobot adventures, then. icon-fire.gif See, this is why each Gobot needed a faction symbol...I don't mind that they didn't have the alt mode dichotomy of the Autobots and Decepticons, variety on each side is nice, but there's nothing inherently "bad guy" or "good guy" about one design or another, or even the color schemes of some of 'em that makes it easy to tell who's on what side at a glance.
mignash
By the Master Renegade, Spoons is BOUGHT!

I hope Hasbro can get the name legally, unlike Fracture/Crasher. I hope they work the word "renegade" into his bio.
Shinki
Awesome. The first version I found to be kind of bland, but this manages to look good in general, and be a homage.
Echowarrior
Was hoping this mold would get a repaint! Now if only we could get names for these guys.

I'm inclined to get any Scout that's released, but I'd be seriously discouraged if it shares a name and faction with someone in my collection.

Both of these statements are points with which I fully agree. Repaints are good, Scouts doubly so, and Scattorshot is particularly missed.
Spark
I hate that mold... but it's freaking SPOONS, for God's sake. I'm... torn.
Spectre
Whoa, that's surprising. I think I might get it just for the GoBots homage, even though I don't have any of the new ROTF molds yet.
mignash
Dear lord, it just popped into my head. If this is Spoons, does this mean the all red repaint of Knock Out is Scooter?

Mystery bike:

Gobots Scooter:
NightViper
I'd hope not. Reverb was already their Gobots homage for that mold.
Powered Convoy
This or Beachcomber will be the first Scouts I buy for RotF.

Reverb was an homage to Beast Wars Inferno. Check him out! He's red, dark red, and gray, with "Colony Racing" printed on his side. It's just a happy accident he sort of also looks like a GoBot.

http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Reverb_(ROTF)

Oh, right, and the "97" on his chest refers to Inferno's release year.
mignash
After 25 years, Spoons returns to the realm of toys! Hurray!

Hmm, yeah that definitely explains the "97" and "Colony Racing". I'm still seeing him more Dart-ish and less Inferno-ish...

I wonder if the new bike without the blue stripe is an attempt to make the homage clearer, because it definitely uses all the other colors that Reverb used icon-fire.gif
It's Walky!
If the second red bike is intended to be Scooter, I wonder what significance the little angular symbol-thingy on his side has. Heck, I wonder what it means either way.

The markings do kinda look like the Ancient Autobot Language font, seen here: http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Image:Autobot_Translations.jpg But no characters show up that I can tell. The style just matches.
Ave Destron
Somehow They are making all the scouts and their repaints too irresistible to ignore.

I really really really love ROTF as a toyline.

Nanite
Well, there you go then. Hasbro loves me, and I love Hasbro. Living proof.
mignash
Well if it's Scooter (even if they don't get the name) it will be an Autobot who has hologram casting powers mentioned in the bio. That will clinch it.
It's Walky!
I don't think there's a good chance of these guys being named Scooter and Spoons, even if Scooter does turn out to be Scooter. They're not particularly compelling names. Hell, if we couldn't get "Packrat" (ROTF Nightbeat's original homage intention) because marketing thought the name wasn't cool enough...
Donocropolis
I've been waiting for that mold to be repaint. It looked like a good mold, but I wasn't crazy about the colors so I decided to wait for the repaint. The fact that a repaint did come and that it is a well done Spoons homage makes me extremely happy. The scouts from the ROTF line have just been fantastic and so far my favorite part of the line.
NightViper
Scooter was a Guardian. Mystery Bike is a Decepticon. While that doesn't necessarily rule him out, Hasbro has been good at keeping the Guardian = Autobot and Renegade = Decepticon thing going for most of their GoBot homages.
Shinki
Like they are having a dance off.

Yeah, that makes me doubt he's supposed to be Scooter. That and the image of his robot mode. Needs to be orange detailing somewhere.

Though it's odd that they'd go and do another red bike if he isn't supposed to be somebody. Why repeat yourself so closely without a reason?

Not difficult. Hasn't Hasbro only done Renegade homages so far?

I wonder how long it will be until a Scalpel and Ejector repaint.
Col. Jupiter
Wow; they're jut going to keep on trying to kill him with a fork lift, aren't they?

TW: Hey, maybe it's Scooter before he got reprogrammed as a Guardian. After all, the robot in the Command Center toy's "Enemy Reprogramming Center" looks like him, and he might well have some brain damage. icon-fire.gif

(Unfair, I know. Actually, I've been watching the show a lot lately, and Scooter is becoming quite tolerable.)

I'm starting to think that the ROTF basics basically are neo-GoBots...

-small transforming toys,
-packed on cards in robot mode,
-with unusual vehicle modes.

Of course, they're bigger.
Smitty
I'm just going to have to get all the ROTF scouts aren't I?
Cybersnark
SONOFABITCH!!

This is the version of that mold I wanted to begin with.

Yeah, that's the way I felt watching it. He was definitely the "mascot" character and the voice could grate something fierce, but he's one of the best-developed and nuanced characters on the show.

As I commented in the recent Machine Men thread, he's not a fighter, and he complains about that all the time... but he also recognizes that they need someone with his skills, and he's the best, so he sucks it up and does his job. It's really fairly interesting to realize that despite the (justified) outward cowardice, he's probably the single bravest character in the show.
crazyjw18
Interesting. I care not for Spoons as spoons, but tis a nice redeco in any case, so I'll probably pick it up and add it to the horde.
