I thought it was one of the most solid recent episodes. It was hilarious, weird, fast paced and fragmented. I cannot wait to see what the rest of this season has to offer.

Looks like their really shaking up things this season. Took me 3/4 of the episode to realize we were going backwards in a Memento style story. The first time switch or two I thought maybe we were seeing a parallel universe Venture and company.
It looks like the new normal is:
HIGHLIGHT to view:
Sgt. Hatred is the new bodyguard of a slightly more mature set of brothers who are actually growing up now instead of being rebooted every couple of years (or more).
24 really is dead, but 21 is determined to get him back no matter the cost. Also, 21 has quit the Monarch and is now leading his own group of henchmen (or hench larpers anyway)
Brock is back in action as a secret agent in SPHINX along with his mentor and several other disillusioned ex-OSI operatives.
I guess the only thing that really left me wondering was why did Molotov HIGHLIGHT to view:
shoot Brock? I thought they only reason she and Hunter arranged to have him "killed" was because they had full confidence in Brock's ability to beat all three of the assassins.

Yaaaaaay! I thought I'd have to wait until January for more episodes!
and yaaaay! It just went on their website in the hour or so I spent looking at convention videos on their site!
WTF... did they mix backwards time with forwards time? I can't figure out what happened to Brock...
HIGHLIGHT to view:
He... got Helper's head embedded in his chest in the explosion in the last episode? jumped out of OSI... and... came back to the Venture compound to leave his communicator? and... then went and had Helper's head removed and... then was hiding for years and getting out of shape? then join Sphinx and got back into shape.
I'm still confused about Hunter and Sphinx. then again, I don't remember much of the details that were in previous seasons. been a while. Hrm. Wiki says Sphinx is a parody of Cobra, and OSI killed them all. and Holy Diver, that gay religious-themed guy who was in this episode, is part of the group. The wiki says Holy Diver is in OSI, so that suggests that... a group that's supposed to be wiped out by OSI is actually secretly run by former OSI members? and they do good things like killing Hitler?

It makes a lot more sense on the second viewing.
HIGHLIGHT to view:
Brock's story is told going forward, while we get the Venture side of the story from almost the end back to the beginning. The comic grade box that appears at the start of the family scenes is the timing mechanism, showing the progression from the original half-million value down to... well, what is used TP worth nowadays?
HIGHLIGHT to view:
I don't think that more than a few months passed overall. It's probably still the longest stretch of time Hank and Dean have gone without dying, though.
HIGHLIGHT to view:
I did think it was confusing the first time through, up until just about the end and then it all started coming together like they had clearly planned out.
I liked how they did the episode once I understood it, but it's definitely confusing to start out with.

Me too! When it first started again I thought they were going to follow 21 or someone else's story from there. But no, it went to the same part and then Metalocolypse started. While I did get a laugh out of the lamp destruction, I was still miffed and perturbed. So Ironbite, to answer your question, adultswim.com has the whole episode.

I think I honestly would have enjoyed it a lot more if it had been in chronological order.
Yes, I enjoyed it when Haruhi did it. But that was 30 minute increments, not every three minutes of jumping around. And I could easily go back and watch it in order.
Anyhow, even setting aside the fact that I was kind of lost for large portions of it, I enjoyed many bits and peices. Sgt. Hatred is awesome, and I'm glad he is around. Hitler thing was weird but provided some I love Hitler lines for Dean.

was wondering when this thread would pop up. (debated making it myself last night) I got out of work at 12 so I missed the 12:00 showing. watched the west coast feed and got the 15 minutes thing..waited to watch the rerun on the east coast feed and went to bed at 4:30 AM. all totally worth it for this episode. (i think watching the first 15 minutes 3 times over helped clairfy what was going on for me.) and the last 15 just drove home the awesome. I think the show is on adultswim.com for the week right now for those that missed the end. anyway definitely looking forward to the rest of what this season has to offer. I was hesitant going in after last seasons finale but now I'm sure it'll be great.

And they sicked the assassins against Brock so they would get killed and make Molotov's gang the greatest assassins left alive in the world.

You think? I guess its possible, but I'm still waiting for 21 to find a way to bring back an actually dead 24.
Man, until you posted that image, I hadn't realized that the surgeon was in Sphinx. I'm wondering what their deal is. They seem to be on the wrong side of the law for sure, but I can't imagine all of those ex-OSI guys joining up unless they were on the side of "good" as it relates to the whole shadow superwar thing in the Ventureverse. It'll be an interesting season, to be sure.
EDIT: The more I look at it, you might be right. The helmet cleverly covers the existence or non-existence of the 24 unibrow, and the hands are just small enough that I can't make out whether or not he's missing a finger on the left hand. The right one seems to be intact, but can't be sure of lefty.
If it is him, he gets around. He's henched for the Phantom Limb and the Monarch already, and now for Sphinx.

I'm thinking now that 24 is dead, 21 (you had them switched) has decided to embrace his "lone wolf" status and remold himself in that image. Which, of course, when combined with his natural personal weakness creates a hilariously spineless pseudoWolverine.
