Since the new animated movie came out I've been trying to get into the green lantern comics. so far Ive read the Sinestro corp war trade aswell as Tales of the sinestro corp paperback.

Im just unsure of which series to read now. Ive heard good things about blackist knight but Im quite sure i need to read some other series prior to getting it.

so any advice?

Green Lantern, main Blackest Night series, and Green Lantern Corps are all you really need to get through Blackest Night IMO.

After the Sinestro Corps, the next book chronologically would be "Secret Origin" which retells Hal's origin and fleshes out the backstory of some characters closely involved with the Blackest Night story. After that, is the next true "must read" graphic novel, "Rage of the Red Lanterns", introducing the... well, it's right there in the title! This is followed by "Agent Orange," introducing the Orange Lanterns. Blackest Night then comes right after that. So, those three books are probably where you want to go next!

do you need to read the other comics within the blackest night banner to understand whats going on? or can you just read Lantern and be fine

Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps, and Blackest Night are the only ones you really need to read. The tie-ins are good but not essential.

And yes, going back and reading the 7 "Secret Origin" issues from last year is a good idea if you're just now getting into GL. It ties Hal's origin into the current goings-on.

I recently made a thread requesting the reading order of the recent Green Lantern trades and got a very thorough list. Read the whole series and am anxiously awaiting the next volume.

Here's the reading order for the trades for Geoff Johns' series, if you feel like going back and starting from the beginning:

Green Lantern Corps: Recharge
Green Lantern: Revenge of the Green Lanterns
Green Lantern Corps: To Be a Lantern
Green Lantern: Wanted: Hal Jordan
Green Lantern Corps: The Dark Side of Green
Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War Vol. 1
Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War Vol. 2
Green Lantern: Tales of the Sinestro Corps
Green Lantern: Secret Origin
Green Lantern Corps: Ring Quest

And that's as far as the trades have gotten so far. "Green Lantern: Agent Orange" should be next, as has been previously mentioned.

Anyhow, Sinestro Corps War is a fine place to start, but should you feel like going back to the beginning and reading all the backstory, that's the order you should try and get em in.
