I was thinking of trying to make simple customs for the President Colton administration in the Shattered Glass story "Eye in the Sky".

The president seems to be GI Joe Colton, the VP is General Hawk, and the Secretary of Defense is Duke.

I was wondering if it would be possible to get that 2008 Cobra Commander figure in the suit, or similar figures, 3 3/4 inch tall guys in suits, and put the heads of a Joe, Duke and Hawk figure on them to make a Shattered Glass Colton Administration set.

Has anyone tried this? Does anyone know if the heads fit from most Joe figures to one another?

Are there any other molds that would fit SG human figures if made from Joes?

While I'm not too sure about the fitting together of SG Joes and Cobra Commander bodies, the interesting point that popped up in my head would be the way Shattered Glass Cobra would be portrayed...

I mean, hilariously inverted character types aside, you're still gonna have to show what would still be considered a "terrorist" group as heroes, on top of that, a terrorist group opposed to the (a) United States government, even if said government is evil. Could end up rather silly...

In-fiction there actually are rebels operating in the United States, the humans on the Decepticons' side are very wary of the government and the military, and it's implied that the US government (or at least the current administration) is made of power-hungry folks who don't have the best interests of, well, anybody but themselves in mind.

So, if you wanted to have Shattered Glass Cobra, I could easily see them as being the "rebels", and the setup is such that they likely would be the good guys--freedom fighters, if you will.

This thread made me wonder...

...what would SG Cobra Commander not only look like, but act like?

Gorge Washington would have words with you.

Cobra Commander should be a rich Hollywood actor who is also a vocal activist. In fact, all of Cobra (Coalition Of Brave Rebellious Actors) live and work in Hollywood. Most of their propaganda is about feeding starving orphans in Africa, but that's just a cover for MARS (Mischievous Actors Rebelling Secretly) and CRIMSON (Community of Rebels Including Multiple Successful Oscar Nominees) Guard who are far more anti-government. Although, their highest form of protest so far is a blog with flash games and the occasional sign-waving rally.

To answer the question about head-swapping, yes it is possible.

The early waves of figures might have some problems as I don't think the head balls were of a standard size initially. But that's going back to 2007. Everything from the last two years is the same size.

The JoeCustoms.com Wiki is a good starting point for info on customizing G.I. Joe figures.

Broken Arrow toys sell custom Joe parts (mostly for the older style, but they carry 25th stuff as well). You might want to check there for parts & weapons for your customs.
