*Digging through my closet trying to find my Master Chief & Arbiter shirt*

It's the one party I'll never have to wonder what to wear.

Hope to have the game in hand 4 hours from now.
Esser-Z
"ODST" looks like a Gundam acronym.
Rust
My brain keeps insisting on putting the D on the end.
S-Stop! Thief!
I watched the whole thing.

It's fun, but the storyline was dull even by Halo standards.
Prime 2.0
EH, ive got to wait till thursday.

God i hope that This will still be an offer.

...broken link?
Omgiamonfire
I'll be picking it up after school tommorow.

...broken link?

oops, idk how to fix that but basically if you buy ODST at Toys R Us you can get a free ODST figure and a 20 gift card.

Couldn't care less for the gift card but i want that Rookie fig.

screencap for proof:
Stormrave
The rookie figure is part of wave 6, so unless this is a different version somehow, there will be other ways to get him (though granted if you can get him for free plus get a $20 gift card that is a pretty damn sweet deal.)
Arsenal
I got dibs on Mal whenever we play firefight.
Deuce
Tis the morning after the midnight launch and sad to say it was a poor showing at my store, only 5 people turned up. Sad way to finish up working there.

Grabbed the Special Edition Game and Pad combo as im a sucker for limited things and a forth pad rounds things off, will hopefully get around to playing the game soon.
The Predaking
That Toys R Us Deal is amazing. I wished that I would have waited, but oh well, I'll get the rookie figure in a couple weeks anyways. At least I'll get the code for Sgt Johnson. I should have the game waiting for me when I get home today.
MrBlud
Going to pick it up at TRU in about half an hour.

Then off to work so I can't play it. icon-screamer.gif

Anyone wanna play firefight? Add me, my name is in my sig. Yes, they are all zeros in the spelling.

EDIT: Also, no matchmaking for firefight or campaign? Why did I seriously just spend hugging 60 dollars on this lie of a game? I don't have the time to be planning out when I'm going to be playing with other friends. Nice job Bungie. I'm finally done buying your one game that got you anywhere.
ultra magnus13
Don't blame Bungie for YOU not knowing what features the game had. It's been well known for quite some time that the campaign/firefight would not have Matchmaking.

Single player(co-op) was fun and engaging. Looking forward to playing it on Legendary. Had a Firefight round after we finished that lasted over 3 hours.
Stormrave
While I think it's silly that they didn't put Firefight in Matchmaking (I prefer playing with people on my friends list but will use the matchmaking feature to play horde if none of my friends are on when I want to play) I was aware of that when I bought it. I wonder if they could possibly add that feature after the fact, via a download or something?

I'm more than happy to add people here to my Friends list to better improve my chances of finding a Firefight team...

FilStoramee - add me. icon-hotrod.gif

I just started playing the campaign this morning - I had to work today so I got teh game, went to bed, and woke up early to play for a bit before work.

The store I went to had about 200 people show up, but I noticed that Best Buy and Future Shop were dark, apparently not doing the midnight launch. I remember going to Best Buy for the Gears 2 midnight launch and seeing the lineups out into the parking lot at all the other stores too.

Prime 2.0
Caved and bought it at Best Buy, i just got it while i was on "lunch". this way i dont end up strangling a TRU employee when i drive the 32 miles (closest TRU) only to find they wont honor the deal. Cant wait to play sthe campaign when i get home, i am kinda pissed that i just paid sixty bucks for this game and all the maps ive already purchased.
so that puts the total that Bungie has take from my wallet somewhere 2 grand.....and i still plan on buying more figures.
Stormrave
Prime 2.0 - I thought this game had 3 new maps that weren't available anywhere else yet.

At any rate, I get your point about buying maps and now getting them as part of the game, but the way I see it, I would have paid $60 ($70 CDN) for the new campaign, the new maps and to get into the Reach beta, so having the other maps on disk is more like a bonus. Yeah, it's a better value if you don't already have the other maps, but on the other hand, we've been playing on those maps for how long already?
The Predaking
UPS has delayed my package. So much for guaranteed release date delivery. I'm tempted to ru by TRU and get that deal then take back my copy from Amazon on Thursday.

go for it man, if youve got the money why not? then just get amazon to give ya your money back

i see your point stormy but still if iam paying lets say half, so 30 bucks for 3 new maps basically. But like you said that betas also included, i went out and bought Crackdown for Halo3s beta and that was after they jacked the price back up to like 55 bucks

The Problem is that I'd lose my Sgt Johnson code if I did that. I'd have to do something morally dubious and take the Amazon copy back to TRU. I'm not that comfortable with that.

Boy is he pissed.

I called it a glorified expansion pack and I honestly was hoping they'd prove me wrong.

Did anyone else find the "Uplift" Nature Preserve just a little too hamfisted and "har har we so clevuh"?
Bungie need to be a little less obvious sometimes.

Picked up the TRU deal, took them 30 minutes to find the figures. Awesome game so far, though I've barely played at all yet lest I didn't make it to work.

My ODST Rookie figure broke his left hand on first movement. It went right back on but the ring was snapped. Is the upcoming regular release Rookie the same as the TRU bonus? I didn't see any "exclusive" marking on the package, and the one on the back looked exactly the same. If so I guess I'll keep my eye out so I can buy it and then return this broken one.
The Predaking
As far as I know, its just the regular Rookie figure.

I've got my Download code sent to me, so whenever my game gets here, I'll be good to go.
The Messiah
Le sigh, will be dropping money on this. I don't know why Halo has such a pull on me.

If anybody needs a friend for firefight, just add larrybluebird (named after my parakeet...he stole my credit card so he could play on live too...I just go with it icon-hotrod.gif).
The Predaking
Yeah, if anyone wants to play any Co-op or Firefight, send me a request or an invite if I am already on your list.

Cobolisdead
Daith
Well just beat the campaign on easy. Gotta say the last level is typical of the Halo series. And make sure to watch after the credits for the extra scene as always.

Anyways I'm up for some firefight with anyone. GT = Darthirian.

So they can't. But you know what? I don't care.

You know why? Because I spent like five hours today playing three really loooong Firefight games with just myself.

Unlike trying to play GoW Horde solo, which usually ends up in me getting teabagged by Locust after, like, level 4, by putting Firefight on Easy I can amuse myself for hours and actually make it as far as the third set of 5.

Granted I still think it will be better playing with other people but it is enjoyably playable just by myself.

I am also excited to play with Zodiac. He used to play slayer with me but stopped after a couple months of Xbox ownership when my shooter skills just got so far above his (since he prefers puzzle and sports type games.) Now we can play Halo and the difference in our shooter skills isn't going to make it boring for me and frustrating for him.

Oh, and there are Elites in ODST. At least, dead ones. I found two poor Sangheili's bodies during campaign this afternoon.

I want the game, but because of this, I'm willing to wait until it hits the discount bin. For my play habits, without this game having matchmaking the firefight option may as well not even be there, and it would have been a huge selling point for me had it had mm. As is, it's a single player game I'll play when I can find it cheap, as I already own Halo 3.

I still don't quite understand how it's something that can't be added to the existing mm service given all the different game types you can already join. And even if it was, is it that hard to write a little bit of code for gamers to create public game lobbies and team up with others from there? Meh.
The Predaking
Match making is highly overrated.
Omgiamonfire
Just finished ODST's campaiagn. Overall, I found it refreshing to not play as a spartan for once, cause I had to change my tactics alot. Espically with the Hunters.

Now for the story and characters, I actually liked it. While the story was a bit light, the characters really helped the game.

Actually, that's an early run of the figure. when the regular release comes out it'll have a more acurate color scheme too.

Ok after 2 and a half hours solo on firefight I'm ready to put the controller down for a while. Made it to Set 4 Round 1 wave 5 on Last Stand on easy. I know thats not saying to much but all I know is my hands are ready to die now.
Prime 2.0
Well i just finished the Campaign on Heroric, i liked it, but at the same time i never really felt like there was this gigantic difference between playing as Master Chief and as the rookie.

i mean you still have a shield so to speak, and IDK if it was just me but i was still able to stand my ground against a huge group of Brutes. Generally speaking Humans never really last long in the Halo universe unless they're covered in 2 tons of Moljinor armor. So to be able to hold my own kinda leaves me scratching my head, same thign goes for the ability to pull turrets off their stand.

I mean we could argue that there's some manner of switch that they're pressing to remove the turret, but how are they able to carry it and move as fast if not a little faster than MC?
Between that, the fact that you can flip over vehicles by yourself, drive covenant vehicles HIGHLIGHT to view:
Hell theres a whole damn level where you fly around in a banshee and that you just jump a hair short of what MC can pull off doesn't put enough of a buffer between MC and these 'regular' humans.

Honestly if it was up to me, you wouldn't be able to use covenant weaponry, your jump would be the equivilant of a light hop for MC and no shield/stamina what so ever. Then you'd actually care to stick to the shadows and flank groups of enemies. Sure right now iam not not running straight into a Battle like normal and iam being more cautious but at the end of the day iam just hiding around a corner to get my shield back up.

good game, but not enough of a difference ot make me feel like i was playing a different game, maybe this was their intention but this basically is a tweaked skin mod for halo 3.

Gonna attempt to go back through on Legendary but i'll be up for some Firefight once i get back to a normal work schedule.
Esser-Z
So, really, they're not really the Imperial Guard to Master Chief's Space Marine, but the Slightly Worse Space Marine to Master Chief's Space Marine?

I think it might be just you, cause I had trouble with the brutes. And the hunters. Oh god the hunters.
Prime 2.0
I still had a little trouble with the Hunters, but it was more because i didnt have the correct weaponry to take them on.

As long as i had some grenades i was able to hold my own. If you throw a on at their feet they will literally sit on it which will either kill them outright or it'll give you enough time to circle to their backs, and unload on them.
But if you're out of grenades and all you've got is yoru pistol and the assault rifle your going no where fast.

Quick tip tho, pick up the first needler you get, its a breeze to handle the Brutes with that.
The Predaking
I played ODST last night. I got a little ways into CO-OP on Legendary, and it was insane! Then we switched to 3 player Firefight on Normal and spent 200 minutes playing one map! That was insane!

Well, these are ODST soldiers, and they are able to handle themselves against covenant in the novels. In the Flood, they repeatedly devastate the covenant and steal a capital ship from them.

Well, he is in 2 ton armor and not many of the Spartans are noted for their speed inside the armor. Just Kelly. Not saying it makes sense though.

Well, Covenant weapons are just Forerunner weapons, and for some reason humans can instinctively use them.
Stormrave
I've developed a great campaign strategy to deal with hunters....

...run like a little pussy.

I'm sorry, but all I had left was a couple pistol shots, NO WAY am I taking on Hunters without a pile of grenades, a fuel rod cannon or a rocket launcher, or preferably all three. OR at least a brute shot or plasma rifle.

....I have also realized that hunter + gravity hammer is a combination I look forward to experimenting with.

I noticed that the Hunters seemed a bit softer on Firefight than I was expecting but that's not necessarily a BAD thing. And yeah, ripping off turrets is a bit Spartan-esque, but other than that, I buy that an ODST is still a bad mother hugger even if he's not quite a Spartan. I think that if they changed the game too much it would turn into Gears of War and I don't want that because I already OWN Gears of War - Gears and Halo should feel different. So while I noticed that the Rookie was, if not quite Master Chief, still pretty badass, I'm not particularly upset about it, as enough of the rest of the experience was different.

I liked having to use night vision, the atmosphere of the city at night, and the experience of fighting down and dirty and alone and scared in the ruins of Earth instead of sailing about the galaxy kicking ass and taking names.

I liked the "solving the mystery" aspect, the chance to play as the different characters, the story from the comm terminals and the night vision helmet.

I don't like that damn red out you get when you're fatigued. It may be more realistic but it is annoying as hell.

Oh, and I found some Elites. Two dead ones, but there ARE, technically, Elites to be found in ODST.
Omgiamonfire
I think Buck mentions something about how it looks like the brutes killed them.

Yeah I forgot about the novels, but still it was a group of ODST's not just one lone Rookie. I'll even make the argument that the rest of the guys are grizzled enough that they probably could handle themselves relatively decently, but not a rookie, yeah its a rookie ODST which is the Equivalent of a rookie SEAL, still badass but your gonna make mistakes as a rook no matter what.

Forgot about the Forerunner deal, but still if i actually had to make a run for ammo all the time it would have just been another reason why i'd stick to the shadows and avoid confrontation.

EDIT: Stormy if you look hard enough there's dead elites everywhere, on the first mission you run across atleast 2, and i know that at one point i fallowed some writings on a wall that could only be seen in Visor mode and would come across a dead elite with a Beam rifle or something.
Stormrave
Prime 2.0 - I am absolutely positive I am missing all kinds of things, and I have every intention of replaying the game on heroic in the hopes of exploring a bit more once I know WTF I am doing. (I know I've missed a bunch of the terminals already). Sounds like I have more things to look for (poor elites.)
