well meh..... I can honestly say I have two points of view for this spider-man movie. I hope it does so poorly that they never make another one.
The last one was pretty damn hard to get through, but if it is as huge a success as the first three. I really hope they stepped up the plot/story to make it worth the price of entery, and try to make it the best damn spidy movie possible. I don't want a Superman 4 here you know what I mean?

Well, after Spidy 3 my expectations are going to be so low it will be hard for the film not to exceed them. I just hope Raimi got his mojo back making Drag Me To Hell.

Seeing as how I still haven't seen Spidey 3 (Nor do I want to see it.), I can safely say I'll pass.

Yes, he'll bombard Spidey with unrelenting tidbits and images of Lindsay Lohan, Amy Winehouse, and the cast of The Hills. No mortal man can possibly withstand such brutal torment.

Frankly, I think some fans would prefer that over Carnage.

If it would mean the ridiculousness that would be a CGI Doppelganger, than I'd be all for Carnage as a movie villain

Aw, I wanted the Lizard. I mean, I like Carnage, but I want to see him in a later movie, so he'll have the build-up arc that Venom lacked. Like, put Lizard in this one, show the Venom symbiote in his lab, then show it escaping at the end. In the next movie, Scorpion appears, who, in the final quarter of the movie, becoems the Symbiote's host, and it reproduces when he dies. The new symbiote targets a new host, and find Cletus at the end. In the trailer for Spidey 6, you'd see a drug dealer walk into an alley, hear him scream, and then you see his shadow being attacked by Carnage's shadow, and then, you cut to his corpse, and you see "CARNAGE RULES" written in blood, accompanied by Carnage's maniacal laughter. So, here's the basic order: Lizard (4), Scorpion/Scorpvenom (5), Carnage (6).

Carnage is different territory.

If they're REALLY going to do a movie about a superpowered alien-enhanced serial killer, it's going to have to be A LOT darker than any other Spiderman film. Dark Knight dark...at the very least. If not darker.

Yeah, it just wouldn't feel like a fit in the franchise, especially after they made Venom almost pointless. Why turn around after that and make a movie about his less popular progeny, whose gimmick is being super powered serial killer who likes to make random New Yorkers into chop suey?

I still don't get why they've built up this subtle setup to make a movie about the Lizard only to never use it, though it'd just end up being another movie about how conflicted Spidey is that his friend became a villain...

You cannot do Carnage with PG-13. It's just that simple.

Spiderman 4 should be the Batman and Robin to Spiderman 3's Batman Forever.

I thought Spidey 3 needed work, but it wasn't THAT bad.

The Lizard would require a lot more storytelling than just CGI extravaganza. So, basically, there's no hope.

Of course, I have a feeling I'll be dead before they make the movie I want to see. As in, Spidey vs The Sinister Six.

That seems like it'd be MORE of a "just a CGI extravaganza", really.

Y'know, Bruce Campbell has stated he's going to have a big role in Spider-Man 4. I could likely tolerate using Carnage if Campbell was in the role.

Campbell as Carnage? I'd see that for the comedy value alone!

And no way are we getting Carnage. Nor should we want Carnage. Carnage sucks.

Assuming this is real, I'm not surprised but I'm not entirely thrilled. It makes sense to continue with the symbiotes. As long as they don't try to cram as much into this one as they did 3, I'll likely be happy.

1. Sam Raimi doesn't like Venom.
2. Sam Raimi (supposedly) has full creative contol back.
3. Carnage is a lame 90's "grimdark" version of Venom.

If he does have it back then I have no worries. If not, then yes some trepidation is present.

I am glad to see someone else think so. Also Mysterio would be a great film villian, with his special effects trickery giving alot of good ability to use alot of real special or CGI effects. Sure he's a flashy rediculous villain; but a villian that a studio would get their money worth with him. And Bruce is just the person that can really bring life to such a villian and make people see the fun in him.

Wouldn't Mysterio kind of cause some fourth-wall problems?

Remember when IMDB first released it's cast list for Spider-Man 3 and it had Rosemary Harris listed as Aunt May/Carnage?

Ok, can someone please explain to me all the hate for:

- Spiderman 3
- Venom
- Carnage
- The Symbiote concept in general

I like the symbiotes. I liked Spiderman 3. I wanted more Venom in Spiderman 3. I like Carnage. I think that Carnage in Spiderman 4 would be pure win and awesome.

Why am I apparently in the minority?

The reason you want more Venom is why people hate Spiderman 3. They forced him in there and killed him off just as quickly. He should have had his own movie. I like Carnage, but no way will he be done right in these films, he's too violent. Remember him stealing "plasma" from people in the cartoon?

Retconing Uncle Ben's killing was unforgivable and destroyed Spider-Man's whole origin motivation as we know it.

It was awful. It was terrible as a movie and DEFINITELY terrible when compared to the other two which were far superior. They shoved two characters in there neither of which got any reasonable character development.



I like Venom. I do not like Spiderman-3 Venom.



Carnage was a lame 90's version of Venom. He's a less then one-dimensional character.
