I'm not into MMOs at all, but I am into D&D. So I'll give it a shot. I'm downloading it now.
Anyone else play? I figure maybe we can get the Steam Group into it.

well, created a character and played through teh tutorial mission.
seems pretty fun. as a weekly D&D player it seems familiar enough.. still working out how the actual game works though. its a bit like WoW..
kind of annoying that the free account gives you enough to play with.. but if you want all the bells and whistles you have to buy ' turbine points' or something to buy races, quests, classes, etc.. from the store.

The site and manual seem to state that you also earn those points in game. For free.

seems allright for the most part, but at this point I'm still partial to Guild Wars. Perhaps this will win me over, perhaps not.

Well, you would have to have initiative bonus, or I doubt you'd beat her save vs Dex...

Well I have downloaded it but I cannot run the game. When I attempt to run the game the Turbine downloader pops up and give me the option to run LOTRO which I uninstalled months ago. It doesn't provide me with any options to run DnD online.
This doesn't give me any warm fuzzies since one of the main reasons I dumped LOTRO is because Turbine was such a horrendous piece of crap.

I've been trying it out lately too. I've started playing it with my Brother and Sister in law last night and it was okay, but not anything earth shattering. granted, I am only about 3 hours into the game right now, so that might change.
I do like that second weapon you get in the game is a flame weapon that burns. Pretty wicked looking.

would have helped if I'd remembered how jivey two weapon fighting was in 4th ed. :-/

Took me just about an hour to DL, actually. It wouldn't launch so I rebooted my PC, which under normal circumstances would be fine. Problem is that I'm at work and was remote-connected to it. And since I dual-boot with Ubuntu as the primary OS, guess I won't be getting to it until much much later...

about the level cap thing:
you have to find an item called a sigil stone to increase your level cap beyond 4. i got one as a random quest reward in the second town, it bumped me up to a possible lvl 8.
so far its a pretty nice game, gets kind of complicated pretty quick though.... like having to carry around wooden weapons for monsters that eat metal, or remembering not to hit ooze monsters with weapons because it will disolve them..
just learned something about dragonmarks, seems interesting.

okay, im a lvl 3 now and im hitting a point where im gettting a lot of ' you dont have access to this area' or ' you dont have access to this module' always followed by ' buy it at the DDO store! '
... ive managed to amass 75 turbine points by just playing the game, which is cool... but most of the content packs range from 120 p to 400p ...
its a little aggravating.
