Full Version: Greg Weisman's Gigantic Spidey/Gargoyles Geekgasm!

Vicious
So, this past weekend was the Gathering of the Gargoyles in Los Angeles, CA. There was a major Spectacular Spider-Man event that weekend as well. Lots of cast and crew from both shows attended.

Every year, Greg brings one of his scripts to perform a Radio Play. Mostly fans and two professional voice actors (usually). This year, SIXTEEN pros wanted to participate. So, since no Spidey or Gargoyles script had all the characters, well, he had to write something original... a non-canon crossover. Sixteen pros and thirteen fans... including yours truly.

Anyway, the whole thing was recorded, and will, at some point, be made available. In the mean time, here is a clip of Greg Weisman handing out the scripts to each of the performers... including me.

And here are various clips from the thing:

And here's the cast list:

Its interesting to see Carnage listed in the cast since he has yet to appear in the series (if it all if there is no season 3)

Well, Carnage appears in this.

Keep in mind, this is 100% non-canon. For either series. Though elements of it may wind up canon eventually. Carnage being a clear example.

Another example being Demona's, ahem... scheme... which could never make it on TV, but if we get more graphic novels....

Yeah, I understand it not being Canon; I just didn't think we'd see the "premier" (using the term loosly since its not canon) of a fairly major Villian in this and that it'd just be characters we already seen interacting.

It does make me curious to see how Greg handles him, since people don't think Carnage would work well in the Spectacular world.

Well, in this, he... along with Venom, and John Jameson/Colonel Jupiter, become Demona's henchmen... she acquires the Spear of Destiny, and uses it to restore Eddie and John's powers, and gives Cletus powers similar to Eddie's.

BTW, the Spear of Destiny is not the "potentially offensive" weapon I was talking about... it's one half of the equation... the other, well, I know of some people who were deeply offended by it. The other half, which Demona acquires in Act Three of the play was... the Crown of Thorns... yes, that Crown of Thorns. So, in essence, Demona gains the powers of Jesus Christ... and, naturally she wants to use it to kill us all.

Yeah... I could see how offensive that could be. I'm not sure he could even get that into a graphic Novel, least not one that Disney would likely approve of.

Disney has let him pretty much do whatever he wanted with the comics so far. I know Bad Guys did some pretty gritty stuff. Plus there was all the biblical stuff in the Stone of Destiny arc. We'll see, I guess. I thought it was pretty cool, and I hope he gets it in some time in the future.

Its one thing to have biblical elements, its another to basicly make your villian a Second coming of Jesus... icon-wildride.gif

Will the script ever be available online to read? Some of the things they say are a little hard to hear in the video and reading along would help.

I don't suppose anyone managed to grab parts 3 & 4 via Realplayer? They've apparently been made private, and I've only just gotten around to checking this out.

The Gathering Staff asked him to take them down, as we're planning on editing this together and distributing it ourselves. It'll be cool, and I'll keep you all posted.
