There is a degree of difficulty involved in reviewing any toy. And of course much more when you've been familiar with it for a decade or so. But it seems to get even more difficult when the toy is so awesome that you think anything you could say should already be a foregone conclusion - common sense, even. Obviously Transmetal Megatron is awesome, and Metals even moreso for not being a timebomb. So maybe the angle to work here is how Megatron is so great. Either that, or it's the photo of him carrying around a rubber ducky. Toss-up, really.
MEGATRON I
You really gotta love his tail weapon. It is pretty fun to have a weapon that can be posed along with the robot. I don't think his rollerblading hovercraft mode is all that impressive though. But outside of that he makes for a very tight figure.

I like the transport mode because it's unabashedly goofy. I'll readily admit that it's a weak transformation element. I am exceptionally amused with using the skates in robot mode, though, as the gallery probably attests to.

well, you freaked me out enough to go and give my Transmetal Megatron a thorough exam. I find one spot that may or may not be a stress point, but otherwise, he's just the same as when i got him in '98. Happiness.

If you read the TFwiki article I linked to in the update post on the front page, it seems like this kind of plastic failure is not preceded by any markings or other warning. It just dies one day. icon-screamer.gif

For what it's worth, my Transmetal Megatron is still in one piece, though detail painted to where it's not suitable for review photography. On the other hand, I don't handle it anymore since I'd like it to stay together. Thankfully thus far the only common ailment I've experienced with any of this age of toy is chrome wear/loss. I always thought it was interesting how the rest of the Transmetals actually turned into something approximating a vehicle (well, except Cheetor), while Ops and Megs both get rocket skates. Meg's 2.5th mode makes me think of Barney on ice....
