Preordered, and awesome. Also surprisingly cheap, which is nice.
Makes me think though, it'd be awesome if they did a weapons set somewhere down the road, just a whole mess of guns and melee weapons to kit out all the unarmed figures we've gotten over the past few years.

Well that and this is what made me think they'd be cool on their own. But without the whole needing to buy a dirty great trailer to get them kinda thing.
Also, not chrome, and more of them, and using the neat Trasforming thing the City Commander rifle/cannon has going. It's just annoying we've moved away from the standard 5mm fist holes, since it would have made it all easier.

yeah, it should have the 'forearm flap' holes that powered commander had so these can sit up front in vehicle mode... and the notches in the boot pieces so they can peg in the back too... but anyone just getting the weapons set be forewarned... you'll only use these in robot mode, and they will sit in the back loosely while in trailer mode. its to bad the add on set didn't come with substitute forearm pieces ... so us early adopters could fully utilize these missiles.

nah I'm just kidding way to go Fansproject thanks for giving me more Ultra Magnus goodness

Damnit. For about a year I've heard others gush about City Commander, and I've been getting more and more regretful that I didn't jump on him the first time around. Ultra Magnus always has been one of my favorite characters, after all.
Now they rerelease the thing, with more dakka, and I'm not hurting for cash. Preordered.

Very cool. The price is right, Ultra Magnus is armed to the teeth now, and each version of the armor now has a unique accessory instead of Ultra Magnus being left behind because of being the first version of the set.
Hopefully if the gun stores away in vehicle mode, it works with both the new run of City Commander and the original as well, since there were subtle changes made to the set for Shadow and Powered Commander. It's already great that they weren't greedy and thought to offer the new accessories by themselves, but it'd be nice if the people who supported the sets from the start didn't have to feel like they were missing out in any way by not buying the full new set. It's a small thing, but I'd hate to have to just sit the gun aside in vehicle mode with my original run of the toy if it could store away on the new version.

My only complaint is that I think the rifle modes should be reversed and the overall longer mode should be for the armor use. All the same, at this price I'm very happy to further outfit my City Commander. Just having a special gun that it can actually hold up will be great.

or maybe he just thinks it's too expensive period. Opinions and decisions can change in hindsight, but maybe he just thinks $90 is too much for a toy. or that kind of toy. or this particular toy. whatever.
Also, while I can't make a guess as to how likely it is, it's possible that a reissue plus the bootlegs will devalue both the original and the reissue (and as a result, the maximum asking price for the bootleg) due to so much supply. and while there's no limit to how many bootlegs they can make, it's possible that the demand is high enough that there still won't be enough for everyone.
I think a lot of that depends on how the bootlegs are treated. If the greedy bootleggers keep trying to get as much for their product as the real thing, it'll be a long, drawn out process. While smart shoppers will be wary and not ready to drop the same amount of money on the bootleg, supply will never dry up, but it shouldn't effect the value of the real thing. If they drop their prices, depending on the amount, enough people might consider it as an alternative that a sturdy original might be worth sacrificing for. then again, those same people might be having to go buy the real thing after theirs breaks, so who knows... I'm still not sure I'd pay $90 each for a figure I wanted to repaint into Thunder Clash. It would probably be better.

Oh, I've thought of that, but I always notice that the people who complain a lot about how much stuff costs, always seem to have an awful lot of free internet time.
Anyway, I don't think the price will ever fall significantly below the original cost of the set. It may have ballooned a bit due to a supply shortage since a lot of people apparently didn't like Ultra Magnus enough or weren't around for the year or so it was initially on preorder, but I don't foresee people racing to unload them for $50 on eBay.

Things are only worth what people are willing to pay. I was willing drop $100 bucks for ML Soundwave because to me a good deluxe sized Classics looking Soundwave was well worth that. Same can be said for my Henkei Thundercracker. MY City Commander set was a Christmas gift. Now something like G1 Soundwave is not worth the price that HTS is asking right now. At least I don't thing a 26 year old toy that already has a good update and a bad one too.

I like to believe that early adopters like us are the only reasons the rest of the fandom got to enjoy this. Like ipod nano 1st generation or how the popularity of the TFTM toys resulted in premiums.
