Did you get it?

Wasn't it just SUPER?

I think the Flash strip might have been my favourite, because of the way it played with the concept so literally, and crammed so much story into one page, so concisely. Compare with the Wonder Woman strip, which got a lot of story in, but did it by just putting a LOT of panels on the page, leaving things a bit cramped (but was still really interesting!). Metamorpho, Batman, Catwoman & Demon and Supergirl all particularly stood out... seriously, there wasn't a "miss" in the whole comic. Modern stories, golden-and-silver-age style stories, art styles from both eras and everything in between, mainstream superheroes, war heroes, pulp action adventures... there's literally something for everyone. Man, I just want to go get it down from my room and read it again. I am going to be all over this every week.

Loved it. Absolutely loved it. So much so that I picked up two copies again today after work-one for my younger brother when I see him this weekend and another to leave at the breakroom at the office tomorrow at work.

My favorites were easily the Superman strip and the Metal Men strip. Bermejo's art is just...just...so...GOOD! I mean, it's just so pretty. They could end the story, just have him draw for the next 11 issues, and I'd be totally fine with that. As for the Metal Men strip, it was more goddamn fun than I ever believed possible, especially from this "DiDio" character, whoever that joker is. icon-op.gif The Metamorpho strip wasn't my favorite, but it was easily the best from a technical standpoint (creating a serialized story, introduction of characters in a clear and competent way, be pleasing to the eyes, having a shark bite down on an iron leg) of the entire comic. If there had to be a weak strip for me, I'd nominate the Teen Titans one, simply because it didn't seem to be creating a story and using the format so much as just showing off beautiful Sean Galloway art. Which, again, I have no problem with. icon-ironhide.gif

This is special. Down to the format, the tactile feeling of holding it in my hands, to wanting to spread it out on my living room floor while the tv's on, all signs are pointing to YES for me about it right now.

I echo everything that has been said so far about it.

Why is it only getting a 12 week run? Is there a chance that they will extend it, or perhaps change the lineup after the first 12 weeks?
Chris McFeely
I'd say that 12-issue run is partially a result of the experimental format that may or may not take off, coupled with trying to mitigate the general critical failures of the last two attempts at producing a weekly series that lasted a full year (Well, that's being harsh on Trinity, because it wasn't lambasted like Countdown, but after a popular start, opinions on that book just sort of fizzled into not-caring-ness). I LIKE the fact it's only twelve weeks, honestly. But I would think that if it succeeds (and please, LET it succeed!) that the idea will be revisited a few months after it ends, with a new line-up of characters and creators for another 12-or-more issue run.

people who bought it last week are fat.

Just read the final issue. I really enjoyed this series, especially the Batman, Flash, Metamorpho and Deadman titles. I really hope that some sort of collected edition is in the works for ease of rereading.

Here's hoping DC revisits this idea again soon!
