I didn't see a thread for this yet...and I just found out yesterday but asume that it's been known for a while that the first season is coming out on July 21! Two disk set, all thirteen episodes but only two featurettes which is kind of disapointing but it is a cartoon DVD so I'll let it slide. I've seen the first four episodes and loved what I saw so I'll be buying this when it comes out. July is going to be an expensive month for me...

Finally. Took long enough. Picking this up, no doubt about it. Buy up and support a third season!
DrSpengler
It will be bought. Glad I didn't fall for those crummy 3-episode releases.
Spin-Out
I'm gonna buy it.
Daith
Season sets I'll buy.
Sprocket
I'm not surprised it took this long: Sony is notriously fickle about what they release.

Speaking of, I'm still waiting for the rest of Cyborg 009, Sony. Six years and counting.
Col. Jupiter
Yes yes dear God yes.
DarkDestroyer
I watched the first volume of the three episode DVD and it wasn't that bad...i liked the movie format that it's presented it. I took it out from the library though knowing that I would be holding out for the First Season DVD. I hope that it isn't the same lengthly wait for the complete second season.

Ox: "Dah-da-da-da, dah-da-da-da, Spider-Man. Dah-da-da-da, dah-da-da-da, Spider-Man..."
*funny looks from Montana and Fancy Dan*
Ox: "What? It's catchy."
Sean Whitmore
About frickin' time.
Vicious
Heh, the full, uncut theme song. An extended version of what's been shown on TV.

DrSpengler
Ya know, I've heard a lot of people say they hate that theme song, but I love it. One of the catchiest cartoon theme songs I've heard in years (at least in regards to ones with lyrics, anyway).

I hated it the first time I heard it. The first few times, but I'll be damned if it didn't grow on me. Now I love it.

Go figure.

I'm one of those people. I normally skip over the theme as a matter of routine, but this is one I actually look forward to skipping over.
Chris McFeely
I didn't like it at first, but it really grew on me. My boss, on the other hand, has had trouble getting into the show because he hates it *that much*.
Esser-Z
Yeah, I originally disliked it, but now I love it.
Confuzor
I always kinda enjoyed it, now I avoid skipping it.

I saw a longer version of the theme song in a movie theater a year or so ago (waiting for the movie to start on "The 20" or whatever). It was the same song as the one Vicious jsut posted, but with different visuals.

I picked this set up the other day. At less than $20, I think you get a lot of bang for your buck.

There are only two featurettes, but they're fun. I like them.

Good set.

Looking forward to getting my copy autographed by 90% of the cast and crew in a few weeks! icon-fire.gif

Picked up mine on Wednesday. I would've gladly coughed up $50 for this show. $30 CDN feels like a bargain.

And no, no fancy celebrity stories for me. Show-off icon-waspy.gif.

I've got a friend who's not seen the show that should like it a lot, so I'll probably watch a bunch of it with him this weekend.

Thanks for the link. And thanks to Realplayer SP, I now have a nifty new MP3.

Plan to get the DVD in the near future, but not entirely sure when. Do we know if it contains the deleted scenes they showed at Comic Con? Off the top of my head, they showed one scene where that guy (the one who was investigating who Spider-Man really is) asked if Betty wanted to go out for coffee, right after Jameson sent everyone out of his office (right after the intense shuttle news).

Not that you're missing all that much, but there was additional footage like that to be had.

Kevin

Edited to add: Just remembered the 2 other additional footage scenes. One comes right after the Sinister 6 episode, where Fancy Dan & Ox (sans costumes) turn out to be the cops driving the cop car that picks up the Shocker. They quietly state that 'Mr. H is (will?) not be pleased'.

The other scene takes place in Season 2, in First Steps. Specifically in that scene where Hammerhead heads down into the new bar location to meet Sandman. The new animation involves Hammerhead making a stop at the pool table & telling the Enforcers, 'Betcha she told you this was her first time playing'. After which Hammerhead's driver makes a perfect break (all that balls hit the holes, with the 8 ball being last). Followed by the appropriate face drop on behalf of the Enforcers (Ox, Fancy Day & whatever Shocker goes by).

Unfortunately, none of the deleted scenes made it in. Except for the bump to widescreen, the show is as it appeared on TV.
Vicious
Hopefully the deleted scenes will be a special feature on the second season DVD.

As long as we're "hoping" it would be nice if the US got the rest of the episodes at some point.

...friggin Disney XD.

As near as I can tell, the "logic" in that decision was that August is a bad month for premiering new episodes.

I disagree.

That being said, considering my personal connection to certain individuals on this crew, I will keep mum on what I think here.
Daith
Well I'm not sure what Vicious has to say but I figured I might as well post a link to this article from Newsarama, With Eric Rollman, the Pres of Marvel Animation saying that Spidey is done.

QUOTE
While both Yost and Rollman will currently politely duck out regarding their company’s recent acquisition by Disney (the deal hasn’t been approved yet), admit that “Spectacular Spider-Man” is done and over and not comment on the status of BET’s “Black Panther” series, they still see their future as incredibly rosy. As Rollman points out, the time is just perfect for superhero entertainment.

What I have to say is that, honestly, I'm not all that shocked. It's always been slim, considering how long since production ended.

That being said, I'm waiting for Weisman to make a public statement. I've spoken to him as recently as an hour ago, so maybe when he finds out a little more, we'll know for sure.

Do I think it's dead? Yes.
Do I hope that November sweeps end up justifying a last second renewal? Yes.
Vicious
And here we go...

QUOTE
Marvel Animation Age caught up with The Spectacular Spider-Man supervising producer/story editor Greg Weisman concerning the "done and over with" comment apparently made in regards to the current status of the The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series. The comment, made by Marvel Animation President Eric Rollman and Chris Yost and featured in a recent Marvel Animation-focused interview at Newsarama, resulted in a massive fan outcry for the series. Weisman had the following to say, as seen below.

"I don't know what to say," says Weisman. " Last I heard Disney XD was waiting to see how the series did in the November sweeps."

"If Eric [Rollman] and Chris [Yost] know for certain it's dead, it's news to me," he continues. "But they are insiders at Marvel, and I'm an insider at... well... nowhere, really."

He concludes, "I still hold out some hope that we'll make more The Spectacular Spider-Man episodes, but of course that decision is way out of my hands..."

When asked to elaborate, Marvel Animation President Eric Rollman told Marvel Animation Age that "no decisions have been made either way" regarding the fate of the series, adding that he appreciates the showing of support for The Spectacular Spider-Man. As of now, there appears to be no official confirmation on the status of The Spectacular Spider-Man, but stay tuned for further updates.
