Okay, it might be stretching it since most of the people I can think of are a ways off to the east. But I'm a ways off to the west, so I ask no sacrifice of you that I will not be making myself!

I thought it'd be fun if we could get a group together to haul over to Opry Mills and see ROTF. Eating is also possible at one of the various places in or I guess around the mall, but we can hold off on specific plans until we know at least how many people will be involved.

Please post your interest!
HeyMickey
Consider my interest posted! I'm eager to meet people from here, and itd be fun to see the movie with a bunch of people and discuss it afterwards!
xZAOx
I prefer the Cool Springs theater, but hell yes, I wanna watch this with fellow nerds icon-hotrod.gif
ExVee
Excellent!

Cool Springs doesn't have IMAX, does it? icon-arcee.gif
HeyMickey
Woo! That makes three or four of us counting lostorbit!

Wait, Cool Springs has a theater? I go to Cool Springs every time I visit Nashville; why have I never noticed that?. icon-wildride.gif

Durr, I'm stupid. Opry Mills it is.

It's kinda tucked away, but it's really nice. And closer for me hehe. But I totally forgot about the IMAX.

Let's keep an eye out for when tickets become available, so we can all get them ahead of time at Fandango or something (even though I hate that service). We going to try Friday night, or Saturday night?
Wingus
I'm interested, but after checking Google Earth for some quick directions and a drive estimate, oof... icon-wildride.gif Close to four and a half hours - think I'll be passing on that one.

I'm better for Saturday, between the two. Though my first hope had been for Sunday. But, what works for other people's schedules?

Yeah, I don't blame you. I figured it'd be hard to get the more eastward folks in on this one.

Anybody have restaurant preferences in the area?
HeyMickey
I guess we should stick to restaurants in or around Opry Hells for convenience sake. Isn't there a Chilis or Applebees or something buried in the food court? Something around that speed would work for me. Inexpensive and a good conversation atmosphere.
ExVee
The online directory shows "Chili's Too" and a Friday's in that manner of restaurant, and either of those would be just fine with me. Pity there's no Golden Corral over there. I never could resist a buffet with half decent steak. icon-fire.gif

Well, over in NE Arkansas. Was planning on seeing with a bunch of local buddies anyway, though. Allspark meetup would've been a good bonus though. icon-fire.gif Ah well.

Better start planning so I can make it to next Botcon. I'ma make it, dagnabbit! icon-fire.gif

I'm down with Saturday, although I'd prefer Friday icon-fire.gif

Gonna watch it with a coworker friend of mine as well, but he doesn't like IMAX (mainly because he's stupid). Will probably see it with him at the regular Cool Springs theater (along with my wife who wants to see it). I hope to see it IMAX first though - anyone else down with like Saturday afternoon or so? Something earlier in the day (provided they have it available)?

And I'm fine with eating anywhere. Although I do love Chinese, and Golden Corral is always good too (I'm a buffet type).
HeyMickey
I'm okay with buffet as well, are there any around there? ...although I always feel like I'm being compared to cattle at a trough when I eat at Golden Corral. icon-wildride.gif Still, never ending shrimp tends to stop my brain from making such comparisons.

As far as showtimes go, as long as i can hit the road back home by around 10pm CST I'll be happy. It's an hour and a half drive back to the 'nooga and I tend to get sleepy around 1am (12 CST).
lostorbit
Count me in.
ExVee
I already checked for Golden Corral, and the nearest one of those is in Hermitage. Not exactly next door. But I'm a buffet fan too, so I'll see what else I can find nearby.

Hopefully showtimes will be made available soon so we can see what we're up against. A 4-ish show could be nice, it'd give us plenty of time to be out and get something to eat before HeyMickey's bedtime. icon-arcee.gif If Night At The Museum's showtimes are a good indicator, a 3:30 or 4:00 showing should be no problem. The $15 tickets sure hurt though!
ExVee
I found very little in the immediate vicinity of Opry Mills. Of two Chinese places, one is closed, and the other besides not immediately appearing to be buffet had a "review" that simply noted the cook was observed not washing his hands. It looks like you have to travel a bit away from the mall area to get any kind of eating choices. That said, if anybody knows a place not too far from Opry Mills that is worth the drive, do chime in.

Eh, I don't want it to be a hassle. I'm fine with just eating wherever in the mall then.
ExVee
Well, sure. But I sure wouldn't pass up a nice buffet if somebody knew one that wasn't too far away. I don't imagine anyone would have a problem with Friday's or whatever a "Chili's Too" actually is, right?

They serve animals that used to be alive, so yes, it's fine with me icon-hotrod.gif
xZAOx
I just realized this is going to be released on Wednesday. I can make it up there for a mid-week showing if IMAX has them. Anyone else?
HeyMickey
Midweek would be worse for me actually. Plus, I think I read somewhere on here that IMAX showing might not actually start till Saturday.
xZAOx
Just got the fandango alert:

http://www.fandango.com/transformers:reven...;date=6/24/2009

They actually have a midnight showing on Tuesday even.

Edit: Saturday at 3:40 seems to be closest to what you were looking for.
ExVee
3:40 on Saturday sounds perfect to me. If that's good for everybody else, we can make specific plans now.
HeyMickey
Sat: at 3:40 Sounds great to me! So, movie first, then dinner afterwards?
ExVee
I'd imagine so. I expect the movie to be out around 6, so that'll work out well for dinner afterward.
xZAOx
I don't know if I'm going to see it on IMAX first or not (might get impatient, I have a coworker and wife who both want to see it, but not at IMAX), but I'm going to go ahead and get my ticket! See you guys there.

And yes, I typically hate Fandango with the fiery passion of a thousand suns, but this is really the only way to make it work with people traveling.
xZAOx
I'm not the only one buying a ticket for 3:40 am I?
ExVee
I have to wait for a deposit to my bank to buy my ticket. Should hit early this week. Don't worry, I for one intend to get my ticket.
HeyMickey
Ditto. Gotta wait til I get paid. :/
ExVee
No worries. I'm sure since it's not opening night, and the middle of the day Saturday it's not going to sell out. I mean, we are just buying in advance for convenience sake, right?
Agent X
Actually, with a mid-day showing at 3:40, out by 6 then dinner, I may actually be able to make it into work saturady at 10pm back in Clarksville. IF I have to work on Saturady. I'll try like hell to pull Sunday.

In oither words: Count me in!
ExVee
I haven't been following much on ROTF, but have we heard a running time for the movie yet? I've just been assuming it'll be in the 2:20 range.

The only way to make sure it sells out is to say "Surely it won't sell out!" hehehe. When getting a group together, it's just the safe way (as opposed to getting there and having to change plans last minute - which will really screw with those who have to get back by certain times and/or have to drive a little ways). If we all lived right near by IMAX, and had more flexible schedules, it might not be as useful.

Sweet! More the merrier. Yeah, I'm just guessing it's around 2.5 hours, but with previews it may be closer to 2.75 or 3 hours. However - worst case, come check out the movie with us, then hang out for a while with us but skip dinner.
ExVee
When I check movie running times and then compare to watching the actual movie, the previews seem to always figure in.

But yeah, X, even if you do get stuck with work Saturday, at bare minimum you should have ample time to watch the movie and spend some time with the group and make it home for work. If you work Sunday instead, you're golden. Sounds like you're more or less set either way.

Point well taken. Now, especially with Fandango, will I have the option to pick up my ticket at the theatre? The printers in the house are either out of ink or otherwise hosed, so I'm a bit stuck if printout is my only choice here.

The site says you can pick up at the kiosk.
ExVee
Okay, bought my ticket!
HeyMickey
Glad to have you join us Agent X! Payday needs to hurry up and come so I can stop worrying about my ticket.

Okay, bought my ticket!

Everyone be careful and make sure you're buying it for Saturday!
ExVee
Yep, I made sure to select the 27th. Trust me, for $17 I'm not gonna screw this one up. icon-waspy.gif
lostorbit
So to be clear, the show time is 3:40 PM on Saturday, June 27 at the Regal Opry Mills 20 & IMAX theater? And we're going to see the IMAX version?

Just want to make sure before buying the ticket.
ExVee
June 27th, 3:40pm, Opry Mills, Obscenely Expensive. You got it!

So, since barring unforseen additions we seem to have our group together, does anyone have a preference between TGI Friday's and Chili's (Too, whatever a Chili's Too means...)?
HeyMickey
I'd prefer Chili's, but I'm okay with either.
lostorbit
Excellent, my ticket is bought and either Friday's or Chili's (Too) is good with me.
ExVee
If nobody objects, then, we'll call it Chili's for dinner? And is everyone okay with meeting outside the theatre at about 3:15? Since there's a group to chat among, I don't expect anyone will mind sitting a little while waiting for the movie to start.
HeyMickey
Ticket bought! icon-hotrod.gif

Meeting no later than 3:15 sounds like a good plan. I like to arrive early to ensure that I don't get stuck sitting on the side of the theater or in the first row. icon-kicker.gif

We need a sign or something to hold so that we know who we're supposed to be meeting with. I suggest having it say something like "WTCHOP" or "Omnios Appreciation Society" on it. icon-blitz.gif
ExVee
I'm going to have to remember to bring a rolled up newspaper to smack you over the head with.

Maybe Agent X can wear his special hat and arrive first and we can all rally around him? icon-fire.gif

Here's a picture of me with Gregg Berger:

Plenty more on my BotCon 2009 gallery of me doing various stupid things and looking as dumb as possible. If you see me, wave me down! I'll wear a Transformer shirt of some kind as well. My real name is Rob, and my screen name is pronounced "ex zay oh ex"
HeyMickey
Here's a picture of me expressing DULL REVULSION!

I may or not be wearing a TF shirt. I will most likely be wearing pants. Shoes and socks are a definite. Hat, unlikely.
ExVee
Well, if you still have that facial hair on the 27th, I don't imagine you'll be hard to miss, dude. And to look at your screen name, it sure sounds like "Zhao" in my head.

All the same, I'm going to wear a TF shirt too (ROTF shirt, silver Autobot symbol surrounded by glyphs). Being that while I love taking pictures, I do not like my picture being taken and so have no current photo of myself. I'm getting a severe haircut next week anyway, so a picture now wouldn't be much help.
