Full Version: Bagged toys

Sorry, I posted this in the Banzai-tron thread in TF Discussion, but it seems more relevant here, that and I REALLY wanna know:

All those bagged toys I'm seeing, Banzai-tron being one of them, is not available in the uber-gift set, but instead as a, well, a bagged toy, how are those available at the convention? I'm going as a general admit, so does it mean that these things are available as a free giveaway at the door for anyone going, or are they available for purchase at a particular booth at the convention, or are they something like raffle prizes or something, or rather, only for pre-registered members at the convention?

Appreciate the help in advance. icon-ironhide.gif

As a Primus package holder, Friday you get in line to pick up your ID badge and boxed toy set, then you get into a second line to buy the bagged souvenir toys such as Banzai-Tron. We're talking probably an hour or two in each line. They hole punch your ID badge so they know you already bought your one of each souvenir set that you're entitled to, and then you can maybe buy them again if you stand in line again Saturday.

This is why all the threads of a few dozen people asking for people to pick the souvenir toys up for them are problematic. It's not just "hey guyz I'd love to buy five sets please, one for me, one for Optimusal Primalcron, one for Uniprimeatron, one for Cheetarator, and one for Hairlipimus Minor, KTHXBAI". The lines, toy limits, and crowds are a bitch, but they have to at least try and make sure everyone who attends gets their shot at the toys.

Ah. So what about us general admission pigs? icon-waspy.gif We're getting in the same line as everyone else I'm assuming? Adn we're alloted one, assuming there are any left by the time I get to the end of the line?

More or less. There are usually some by Saturday morning (when they're opened up to Walk-ins), but they often sell out pretty quickly at that point.

Not knowing how many are being made, nor how popular these will turn out to be in actuality (board responses are often only the roughest of approximations of such actual popularity when the money hits the table), this may or may not be a problem at all this year.

Refer to my story about Megatron and Waspinator in your other thread.

By Saturday, I think it becomes a free for all. Not literally though. Those who bought the bagged figures on Friday can now pick up another set (I'm not sure if they limit numbers here, ie, I don't know if you can pick up, say, two more at this time or if they limit you to just one).

As a walk-in, I would recommend that you get those figures first, if you really want them. There's no guarantee you'll be able to get them later. As I said before, I went in there on Saturday in '06, as a pre-registree, and missed out on the bagged figures. Well, one of the bagged sets anyway.

Hrm... Unless one person's dealing with cash, I guess there's no way to have someone get souvenir figures for someone else...
because I really want to get Weird Al's autograph, but I have a feeling if I put the souvenir figures as first priority, I'm not going to make it.
Alternatively, if someone wants to offer ME cash to get their souvenirs while they get my item autographed, it would basically give me a cash advance on my credit card. But then I wouldn't get to see him in person. ... except at the panel with David Kaye. (not going to the party)
Hrm... decisions, decisions...

You can pick up souvenir figures on Friday during the day. Weird Al isn't doing autographs until Saturday morning. If you have the pre-reg package and can buy them on Friday, I'd say you're almost guaranteed. Unfortunately, that doesn't apply to the walk ins.

Nah. I was talking about EXTRA souvenirs, which aren't available until Saturday morning.
I think I'll have to be there at least an hour early. at 8am. :>
Bleh. All but 2 days (1 being Monday, my 2nd travel day) will have early mornings where I won't have time to go to the washroom. I'm going to have a really bad headache. -_-;

Dude, Fun Pub HATES general admission attendees. You want in a panel? Back of the line. Whoops, out of seats! Want an autograph? Sorry, only for REAL attendees! Don't even dream about the souvenir exclusives.

O_O ...

You were hurt, weren't you? icon-waspy.gif

Well, I'll bring cash; my money's as green as any one else's. If they're for sale, they're for sale.

Does early birding do me any good?

Can someone please find out until what time the registration desk/club store is open today Friday. I haven't flown out yet and I just found out that my flight out of Miami to LAX has been canceled. icon-screamer.gif

The club store opened for registered guests at 9, so about 20 minutes ago.

Late registration begins at 9:30.

Are these souvenir figs even available anymore? I hear rumors of them already selling out? Is this confirmed?

I just came from there, and they were still selling souvenir figs as of, say, 4:40.
Robowang
Anyone have news if they're sold out of anything yet?

I'm sorry, this has nothing to do with anything, but... is that a Transformer flying out of a giant fish's mouth in your avatar?? icon-bee.gif icon-depth.gif

Anyway, thanks for the head's up. So there's an icecube's chance in hell now that can get any one of the souvenirs instead of a snowball's chance. icon-hotrod.gif

The chances increase even more if you don't mind paying a markup. Many of the dealers had the bagged toys at their tables as well.
Galvaplex MPH
Ah, I see. Excellent.

While I have you, how much are autograph bands?
Sean Whitmore
I THINK they're $5, but take that with a grain of salt. I wasn't paying much attention when they told us.
