After being blown away by Takashi Miike's amazing horror crime movie, they should bring the original manga here to the U.S. and i hear it's an extreme and explicit manga.

I almost called in sick to work the day after watching that flick...... *shudders*
I think I'm going to pass on the opportunity to delve deeper into the horror that is Ichi's world.

No. Ichi needs to stay right where it is. Most people here just are not ready for that.

Takashi Miike's films in general are excellent. But I believe in many ways the atmosphere of the manga differs from that of the film. Really, if you liked the movie you should be asking for more of the director's work to become recognized by popular American culture.

I'm typically a fan of the general insanity of Miike's work, but Ichi the Killer left me cold. I wasnt shocked or horrified by it; I just didnt think it was very interesting. :/

What a total piece of crap movie. The less we see of it over here the better.

Ichi's not even a good manga. It's just ... meh. Slice here, slice there, oh look, that guy got his genitals sliced off, woo!
Extreme and explicit manga's so passe.
EDIT: You know what's not passe? Proper punctuation, a use of periods and a lack of run-on sentences. Those are SO in right now.

Hypersexualized ultra-violence is totally EXTREEEEEEEEME! To the max, even!

i think people built up the movie so much that when I finally saw it, i was let down. So I'm not a big fan of the film.

Well i happen to enjoy the movie since i'm a horror fan myself, i thought it was one of the best horror movies of the new century. It was entertaining, funny, gory-as-hell, sleazy and well acted with some bits of dark humor thrown into it, i saw a midnight screening here in Albuquerque at a art theater back in 2003 in it's uncut uncensored version as i was blown away.
So is the Manga much more extreme then the movie?

Does anyone ejac on a plant in the manga?

Ichi is really nothing more than violence porn. The storyline is barely there, a thin justification to commit atrocities to film.
Yeah, it was great fun when I was a teenager and looking to 'shock' everyone around me with how extreme the jive I watched was, but looking at it as an adult, it's really nothing.

pretty much. Shogun and i made the mistake of starting to watch the film in public last summer... turned it off after, oh, i think five minutes, and went to watch it in his dorm room. good movie, but yeah, not something to be shown in public.

Oh yeah. Ichi is not for public consumption. There's a reason I used the term 'violence porn'. It's something you watch behind closed doors.

Well the Hostel and Saw movies are kind of public, but Ichi is more dangerous then them right? well Battle Royale did got the Manga here in the US from Tokyo Pop. Why can't "The Story of Ricky" or "Ichi The Killer" get a US manga release?
So the Manga is basically sexual violence, Misgoystic stuff and gore with no plot right? so is it hentai?

That's the same for Battle Royale, you can only get it online including Amazon.Com, you won't find it at Hastings or any place like that.

Because Toei demands far too much money and marketing in America for what is a niche movie. It has nothing to do with content.

Nope, you've never heard of "Ichi The Killer"? not Itchy the mouse. "Ichi The Killer" is one seriously screwed up, sick and hilarious horror action comedy from Japan about this Daredevil-like avenger who kills crooks and rapists with extremely sharp iceskates and goes after this S&M obsessed Yakuza boss named Kakihara who has nothing to do but torture, kill and humilite people.
One of my favorite horror movies and there's also an anime prequel. The film is early "Torture Porn" before today's Saw and Hostel movies.

Well, if you find torture porn hilarious, that says a lot.
