Does anyone have a specicfic memory from Botcon that brings them joy/anger/or even a sense of satisfaction?? More so does anyone remember the year the guy got up and trashed the Beast Wars Mutants at hasbro's presentation?? Anyone else have a memory they'd like to share??

Siting in the theater with tons of fans and watching the movie for the first time.
HA! I WIN!

Actually it would be last Botcon and the large number of children there. It was great seeing a new generation enjoying the things we enjoy so much. It was even better seeing kids with Animated toys bashing them about on the floor while everyone waited in line for registration while staring at them with jealous eyes.
That jive was great!
Upsilon
Fun thread!

The Good:

1 -Having the gall to ask Richard Newman and Scott McNeil to go to dinner with my friends and I, having them accept, and ending up smooshed in the back seat of my mother's PT Cruiser with them.

2- At my second or third Botcon, I rigged up a remote control TM Tarantulas by way of a zipzap motor and twist ties. Much fun was had and friends were made at a time when I didn't have many friends in the fandom.

The Scary:

- The several.... unnerving outbursts in the 2008 awards dinner bingo room.

I am sure I'll come up with a couple more things as I sit here and think a bit.

Definitely.

I also fondly recall watching the '86 movie in the theater and yelling "He needs a little girl...stat!" during Prime's death scene.

Elaborate!
Upsilon
Elaborating to best of memory..

I was across the room from these, and I don't know what happened for certain. But there were two separate incidents within like.. 15 minutes.

The first one, I think involved a dispute over a seat between two older women, which involved one of them getting in the others face and saying something to the effect of "Don't you ever call me a bitch" and storming out.

The second one.. I really don't know what this was all about.. But it involved a little girl and a guy that sat down next to her and possibly a argument over those bingo stamp markers.. Whatever happened, it resulted in the man drawing a line down the girl's arm with one making her scream. Which freaked out the guy and pissed off the girl's father. It ended with the guy apologizing like mad and being ejected from Bingo at the very least.

Ah, so that's who said that. It actually took me a second to "get" the joke. Mine was much more obvious - "That's what she said!" when Hot Rod was making comments about a big one during the fishing scene =P.

I also remember the sound being too low, then being too loud and hurting my ears. And being sleepy. And being on G4 walking into the theater.
---The Rat
I remember my first botcon back in 2000(1). It was in Ft Wayne, and I remember hearing a couple of guys having a conversation about headmasters. I guy said something to the effect "whats a head going to do...bite you????" the next person said "well I know what headmaster Arcee can do to me."
I was there with my better half, and neither of us could tell if they were being serous, or joking.
one of the worst memories of botcon
would be the mental image burned in to my head from 2007 of some kid(around 14 or 15ish). Had one hand in his pants um going to town looking at the 'con comic while riding down the escalator. I was about half way up the other side when I saw it My buddy was still at the bottom. I had to call his cell after I saw that to make sure I saw what I thought I did. Yea...I did, and it was wrong...really wrong. The only thing we could come up with that he was shall we say "thinking" about. Would have been Eletiaone from the comic. I quite frankly couldn't what the kid saw in her...but whatever

My botcon memories aren't all bad or unconformable though. I think the best memory of botcon was again from '07 when I went on the Hasbro tour. That was probably one of the most bad ass things geek wise I've ever done. I must have went though 3 sets of camera batteries snapping pics in there.

Another close contender to the Hasbro tour(also from '07) was the midnight premier of the live action movie. The energy\excitement the crowd had was just amazing. When Tyrese Gibson came in to greet the crowd, and yelled out "BRING IT!!!" a few times the whole place roared"
I remember looking to my left at one point during the movie to see a big bad ass looking guy who's face was just wet from the tears of joy streaming from his eyes.

those were good times. I've got more but that is all I can think of for right now

Yup, the movie. And the tour.
Leatusiv
I've only missed three since 94....98/04/05 I too loved the movie showing in Ft Wayne but left right after Galvatron killed Starscream....I know this is blasphemy but the movie to me goes downhill after that.
Galenraff
Seeing the 2007 movie with the fans in Providence and combined with the Hasbro tour of that trip - that's not just a great Botcon memory, that's a great memory in life! Very hard to top.

But driving around the greater Cincinnati area with Cheets and a few other people for a good amount of the weekend last April looking for Animated toys (we all found everything we were looking for plus enough to ship out to a few others who'd requested them) was also a lot of fun.

Worst experience is almost always the registration line, with only two exceptions. But generally I end up in line by people I don't know, we don't talk much, and it takes for frickin' ever. The panel Q&A sessions have gotten painful as well since the G1/BW era VAs have been asked every unique or original question, and so it's just a lot of "how did you get into voice acting?" "tell me a story about Chris Latta?" and "are you like your characters?" kinds of questions, which is not too cool for anyone - audience or panelist. And the Hasbro Q&A is always "are you going to make my favorite toy?" "No plans." (x 60).

But the movie way more than outshines it all. That was a hell of a way to see TFs hit the big screen!

Also Kal being on the phone with... I forget who... and pointing to TrnsfrmGod and saying "THAT GUY" like whoever was on the other end of the phone could see him pointing. That, you probably had to be there. I seem to recall TrnsfrmGod turning that moment into an avatar for a bit, though.

Damn, you beat me to it.

But, just to to fill in the gaps, he was on the phone with Mouth04, and trying to tell him (rather loudly as I recall icon-fire.gif) who-all from the 'Spark was there. "Yeah, I'm here with, Wheelie-mus...Cheets...Weird Al (Rotty)... ... THAT GUY!... ::points at me::" Ahh, good times...

And yes, it was my avatar for a while, (the pic was staged, and just after theallspark won board wars, so Kalidor was in a good mood and probably would have agreed to just about anything) but Kal asked me to take it down a while ago. Something about the joke having run its course and images of him being unsettling. I don't remember exactly icon-hotrod.gif

Letsee, there was also OTFCC '04 (I suppose this counts) where I found out that I could be seen in the coverage of OTFCC '03, found on the Transformers Season 3 box set. "Hey, don't I know you from somewhere?... YOU'RE ON THE DVD!!"
"What, I'm on a DVD? icon-depth.gif "

There was also OTFCC '03, when they had a dinner on Friday night. After the dinner, we were told that we could go upstairs to where the convention figures had been given out earlier in the day, and collect the next round of figures, or some other exclusives that we were entitled to because we had gone to the dinner. I don't remember exactly what it was, but the point of this was that a room full of adults, in semi-formal clothing, CLEARED OUT and SPRINTED through a hotel to collect the next round of toys. That was quite possibly the greatest thing I've ever seen.

Last (for now), Botcon '07, as I was walking around Providence, I happened to run across an older style VW bug. A Yellow VW bug. In Providence. Where an advanced screening of the new Transformers movie was showing. I actually muttered to it "Oh, come to see the new guys, huh?" icon-hotrod.gif

Ditto. This year, I'm going to be in the official hotel, and I'm getting in a day earlier than previous years, so hopefully I can find some 'sparkers and get the DL on where/when/if there's a drunk tank this year. And since I'm in the official hotel, I won't have to go too far to stagger back to my room.

Oh, and speaking of the '07 DT, Mouth, this one's for you:

One other fun memory of 07's drunk tank was Cheets with the Optimus Voice Changer helmet doing a stoned Optimus impression ("Oh...Jazz...What'd you put in this stuff?")

Hanging out with Raksha and Skyflight at Botcon 2002, who I hadn't met in person before. I get a little sad thinking back on that, because Skyflight passed away the next year, which makes me very glad I made it to Botcon 2002.

I was really sick the first night so Zodiac went out to the parts party and bought me G1 ravage because he knew I really wanted one. He got a steal on it, and then asked me the next day if he'd been ripped off because he had no idea what it was worth icon-arcee.gif He also told me a story about going to a room party and meeting a guy sitting in a bathtub dressed as Dr Archeville wearing a colander on his head and a Nintendo Power Glove, which I think is his biggest Botcon Memory.

After BotCon '98 was over my friend and I were taking a shuttle bus to LAX for our flight home back to Chicago. The driver told us he was waiting for one more passenger. It was Scott McNeil. The three of us sat in the back of the bus and had many great stories to exchange all the way to the airport. Out of all the TF conventions I've been to, that stands out as one of my fondest BotCon memories.

The worst part was my constantly dry throat during the MSTF presentation.
The very next year, a guy stops me during pre-registration pick-up and tells me that, thanks to me, he became just as sick when he got home. I DEEPLY apologized (A LOT of things went wrong at the 2006 con) and he toldme not to worry about it.

I think my best memory falls in 2007 and 2008

2007 because of all the extra stuff like the movie, the tour and I met a bunch of new people and had the best time, plus it was the year I won the free trip!

It was also the worst cause I lost a friend over something stupid.

2008 cause I met Victorysaver and his family, ewingwar, KcabBone, xZAOx, dinotron, mukeefist, GrantB, Blaquejesus, and a whole slew of other peoples and again, had the time of my life and didn't even get laid once! LOL

Oh MAN, that hotel was FANTASTIC. 2 hour happy hour, where all you paid were the tips, for the WIN.
Things that stand out for me about the Botcons I've been to include (but are not limited to):
2004 - Someone showing my animation as a huge projection on the back wall of the dealer room, meeting Peter Cullen for the first time
2005 - Sitting outside with a cigar & a whiskey, watching the street signs leaning a LOT (thanks to the hurricane), talking with refugees from Katrina, meeting Eric Siebenaler and finding out he liked my work
2006 - Winning the art contest, the dinner's mystery meat selection
2007 - Going to see the 07 movie, meeting a LOT of people
2008 - Roadtrip from Long Island to Cincinatti, getting a personal apology from Brian Savage because most of our casino points were taken away from us due to an error, staying at the Ramada (an adventure in itself - while we were staying there, there was a fire alarm and a drive-by. I kid you not)

Wasn't a drive-by. Just some dwork on his motorcycle showing off. How backfiring is showing off, exactly, I dunno...drive-bys HAVE happened in that area, we found out--just not that time.

'08 Was my first "full" Botcon event. Really enjoyed getting to meet Tara, David, & Bumper as well as the crew for Animated. Got to meet some of the members of the Spark thanks to Galenraff, but yeah, worst part was the Bingo oubursts. Didn't realize how many Sparkers were in there when that happend. I was right behind the little girl who got marked with the bingo marker. Her dad was about ready to kill that guy icon-wildride.gif

I did get to attend one day of the '06 in Lexington. That was a really good experience as well. Meeting Richard, Scott, Blu, and even Peter Cullen. Wished I had been able to attend the entire con (lucky I got to last year icon-fire.gif)

Like all great memories, my favorite story involves alcohol.

I'm going to to not name the guilty to be safe, ha, if anyone involved wants to fess up feel free. But here's the story.

At OTFCC 2003, one of my friends at the convention had a bit of a drinking game with a young lady. She lost. Had waaayyyyy too much to drink. So said friend was helping her back to her room.

In between that, I had left the big party room to meet up with another friend to buy some Predaking parts. On the way back, I ran into my friend. Now, mind you, we both were wasted. I was certainly blitzed (and I'd been drinking too! ha) and somehow, my drunken buddy thought that I was out following him and the girl to "keep an eye on them".

So I'm standing there, wasted, holding a bag of Predaking feet and fists. So my response was obvious "dude, I was buying these".

And then I think we both went back in the party and drank more. icon-blitz.gif

Other than that, um, Wankus making an ass of himself in 2002 was awesome. I'm partial, so our panel in '03 will always be special to me. I hope that Trent still has some of the toys from that, man, what a haul.

The Drunk Tank is always a treat, though apparently in '04 I almost made an ass of myself. Apparently a friend and board members (now thankfully ex) wife was being a bit weird. Like, I was laying on the bed (in my room) and she had crashed on the bed and wound up laying back on me. And at some point she was tickling/playing around and I may of, um, grabbed some boob. At least the next day at breakfast that was what I was told. But told in a joking lets laugh about it manner. Ha. I totally don't remember that.

Good times, good times.

My favorite time at botcon was probably this moment...

Several of the Oracle of Cybertron cast all together in one spot. Skysaurus, TM2DB, myself, Transbot, Haretrigger, Fang, Arty, and Nari.
Was is the key phrase though there as this moment has been scarred by recent events. It's funny, the two people I gave the bunny ears that year... one of them disappeared off the internet and the other one tried to convince me to commit suicide in the last month. So it's kind of a bitter pill nowadays.

The other two moments that come really close is the first time I met Arty in person... when she said who she was, I thought for a moment she said Arcee Prime and said as much. Next thing I know I was in a makeshift headlock, lol...

The other was the Allspark-funded Dance Rave that year. Spectre was totally bad ass in that and I was the second person to head onto the floor and actually try to dance after being inspired by him. XD Anyone else have photos from that?

Oh, and of course... my Cybertron Sunstorm/Slugslinger sketch for the voice contest that year. icon-waspy.gif
"Now bronco, I've got to ask. When we're out there wrangling with those autobots, I can't help but notice you say 'For the Will of Primus' despite the fact... we're kind of kicking his people's asses out there. What the slag is with that?"
"I.... have identity issues."

Oh, and the time Walky became my official internet nemesis. XD We were sharing an elevator and when he walked out he accidently hit below the belt with a hand backswing. I've been joking about it ever since.

My best Botcon Memory went a little something like this:

Guy I've never seen walks up. "Are you Trent Troop?"

"Yes?"

"Someone needs to see you, come with me please."

I follow the guy into the hotel bar, and he leads me straight to Peter Spellos, I shake his hand, say hello, and Peter just turns to the rest of the bar and goes "Hey Guys! I found Trent!"

I'd been doing interviews of the RiD cast online, and everyone I'd interviewed, more or less, was in the bar. Got to hang out with them for a bit, and in a weird Botcon reversal, they bought my drinks.

That, and having a Hasbro employee go "Trent... Trent Troop? I love your renders!"
