I'm thinking about having the male unit be Obsidian and the female unit be Strika and then sticking them in my A/E/C stuff.
I already have it in the plot will that a few Decepticons get trapped on Earth when a failed coup attempt forces the Decepticons to temporarily be recalled back into space. These Decepticons will end up attracting the attention of some rogue nations, who agree to keep them supplied and energized in exchange for information concerning Cybertronian technology. In the process, they're helped by a human character who ends up likewise going rogue.* This results in the nations acquiring highly advanced tech.
Where they come in?
The official end result is the sudden emergence of the
X3 fighter / bomber (NATO designator: "Raider") and the
JF Trak anti-aircraft tank.
The unofficial result is the creation of two human-sized androids (one male, one female) who are, in essence, Micro Masters: they have the same size of a normal human in robot mode, but turn into a full-sized vehicle. It's a massive leap in both human and Cybertronian technology, one that results in the once-dominant Autobots and the fledgling Earth Defense Forces being put on the defensive for the first time in years and inadvertently kicking off a massive arms race.
*HIGHLIGHT to view:
Billy (who, due to the naming goofs in the early Armada eps, I myself erroneously referred to as "Fred" and am now stuck with having to do so).
I have it that he and Rad eventually end up competing for Alexis, and when Rad - as an adult - enlists, so does Billy. Rad is fortunate enough to find a patron, a high-ranking officer who used to be black ops; Rad himself ends up going special forces and ultimately earns a battlefield commission, and his commission gets him sent him back to the States for additional training.
Billy, OTOH, either ignores or shuns all attempts made to help him because he feels that he's got to do everything solo if it means proving himself the better man. Thus, while Rad was able to escape the usual drudgery that goes along with being enlisted, Billy ends up getting stuck in rat hole after rat hole. By the time he does return, he's found that not only has Rad won by marrying Alexis, but the two are preparing for the arrival of their first child.
Billy goes nuts, sells off most of his possessions, lets his enlistment run out, and joins the crew of a commercial freighter; this takes him to Eastern Europe, where he is tapped by agents from one of the involved nations. By this point, he's so far gone that he gladly sells everyone out and shares what he knows about Autobot and modern-day US Army tech in exchange for a king's ransom and a hitman to wipe out everyone between him and Alexis.
