Long story short - I need to get Classics Sideswipe's car hood/chest off of the figure for a little while, and it's held in place by one of those rivet pin things on the underside. What's the best way to get the part off? Is there an easy, non-destructive way to do this, or am I looking at grinding the rivet off with my Dremel here?

I'll also need to remove the rear wheels while I'm working on the figure, which are also riveted in place. I can always reattach the hood with a screw if need be, but the wheels are in a fairly more obvious spot in both modes, so I'm hoping there's a way to do this.

I don't see how there could be a non-destructive way to do that.
sometimes you can heat the pin and remove it where it grips on the opposite side. That's only if it's not a flat/rounded head on one side and a hammered (usually with the indent in the middle) head on the other. If it's just like a nail with grooves to grip the inside of the material it's inserted into, heating it up may work, although it will probably still make a bit of a mess of the thing it's pulling out of.
There's also drills that go through metal, but if that slips, you're going to end up with a mess. I guess if you have the hammered rivet end, it should have a nice indent to keep the drill head in. (I managed to open up a SNES using a drill press on those rounded screws, but it was really messy because even with the press, it still slipped.)

Ugh. I was worried it was gonna end up being ugly. Thanks, though.
