Another idea I'm working through after deciding to do something decepticony with my Classics Mirage. I've already got Fracture, but considering the gobots and micromaster homages we've been getting... figured a guy like this deserved his own stake.
I'm thinking of instead of the straight blue on the nosecone, I'd go with more a watery effect to go with the character's killer hydro jets of doom motif. Maybe like waves or some kind of dripping pattern.
Oh, and on the actual figure... I switched around the tail fin to give it a different take compared to Crasher. Plus it gives him more of a demented scientist foot because they can fold up and against the back of the car to form an axe-like foot. : )

Though I'm up for suggestions as always. : ) I will be doing the Gunrunner repaint from before, I've just been low on money lately... so I couldn't work on these things more then digitally lately.

Not bad. I was expecting something purpler but that's because I always get Deluge and Speedstream's colors mixed up, the latter's purpler tones make him look more Decepticon-y.
The main problem is, with all that blue, it's sorta hard to distinguish it from Mirage.

As for Gunrunner.... are you referring to the Pretender or the Japanese Micromaster?

The pretender... I was the whacky guy who posted Cybertron Red Alert in gunrunner colors a while back who wazs planning to add a turret to the top.
I may go with a more purplish blue... I've seen the colors turn more purple, but my own personal owned one is more dark blue.

After some deliberation, I am going with a purple instead of the dark blue.
However, I'm using a paint that might make the figure stand out as well for the purple... going with a FolkArt Acrylic Violet Penny for that part of the figure because I figure even if I screw up in painting it clearly, the smearing effect will give him a look more like a chemical wielding robotic mad scientist would have. XP
Though if I'm making a mistake with picking that type, let me know! I won't actually be painting it for another 4+ hours... icon-hotrod.gif What do you guys think?
Also, anyone who's used FolkArt... should I prime it at all?

I would. Just a thin layer of white or whatever color you want to use as a base will help it adhere better to the figure.

I forget if its Folk Art or some other similarly packaged brand, but you can get acrylic pure pigments. They have gold caps instead of white ones. They work great as a basecoat as long as you spread it thinly, almost drybrushed. I've never seen a black paint provide as good coverage as black pigment with just one coat. The downside to using pigments is that they tend to get goopy and nasty in the bottle pretty fast.

The best paints I've used so far though are Games Workshop paints. They cost three times as much as the cheap stuff, but they seem more durable and tend to coat more evenly.
